The Blue Light 4+ Toaster provides the highest degree of convenience for toasting. An electronic control system with digital display makes toasting an enjoyable experience. Four toast slots in two separately controlled sections and reheating and defrosting functions leave nothing to be desired.

2. About these instructions

The utensil is equipped with safety devices. Nevertheless, please carefully read the safety instructions and only use the appliance as described in these instructions so as to avoid inadvertent injuries or damage.

Keep these instructions safe for later reference. If the appliance is given to another person, these instructions must also be included with it.

4. Important safety instructions

Intended use

  1. This utensil is only intended for domestic use. Commercial use prohibited.
  2. This utensil is intended for toasting bread and, in conjunction with the bread roll rack, bread rolls.

DANGER FOR CHILDREN

  1. Particular care should be taken if the utensil is used near children.
  2. The utensil should be placed beyond the reach of children.
  3. Keep children away from the packaging. Dangers can include suffocation!

HAZARD FROM ELECTRICITY

  1. To avoid the risk of fire, electric shock and personal injury, do not use the utensil in the open air, and do not immerse it in water or other liquids.
  2. Before connecting the utensil to your power supply, you should ensure that the voltage indicated on the rating plate matches that of your power supply.
  3. Only touch the utensil with dry hands.
  4. The utensil should only be connected to a properly earthed mains power supply.
  5. Never pull on the cable to disconnect the utensil from the power socket. Always pull the plug.
  6. Do not allow the mains lead to hang over sharp edges or hot surfaces.
  7. Never attempt to repair the unit yourself, and never use it if the plug or cable is damaged, if it is not working properly, or if there is another type of damage. Send or take the utensil to an authorised dealer. Attempts at repair by unauthorised persons will lead to invalidation of the guarantee entitlement.

WARNING of burns/ fire

  1. Never operate the utensil unattended. Toast can catch fire.
  2. Never place the utensil near to a source of heat or steam, or close to flammable materials.
  3. Never operate the toaster under wall cupboards or curtains.
  4. Only use the toaster with the crumb trays inserted.
  5. Never press thick toast into the toast slot by force.
  6. Never toast bread spread with butter or other spreads. Bakery products with a high percentage of sugar or sugar coating are also unsuitable for toasting.
  7. Pull the plug out and allow the utensil to cool down before cleaning it.
  8. Do not touch hot surfaces without protection.

WARNING of injuries from other causes

  1. Do not allow the mains lead to hang over projections (trip-wire effect).

CAUTION - Material damage

  1. Place the utensil on a flat, heat-resistant, stable surface at least 5cm from the wall.
  2. Do not stack the unit on top of other equipment.
  3. The cable should not come into contact with the utensil when it is hot.
  4. The plug must be easily accessible so that you can pull it out quickly if necessary.
  5. Never place the utensil near a gas flame, electric hotplate or other source of heat. External heat can damage the utensil.
  6. Never cover the utensil as this can prevent heat from dispersing.
  7. Contemporary furnishings are coated with a wide range of varnishes and plastics, and are treated with all sorts of care agents. It could be, therefore, that some of these materials may contain elements that attack and soften the rubber feet. If necessary, place a support layer beneath the feet of the utensil.

ATTENTION: No liability can be accepted for any damage caused by misuse.

5. Prior to initial use

Ensure that all the packaging has been removed from the utensil (protective foil, etc.).
Do not remove the rating plate or any warnings.

CAUTION: Check that the utensil is undamaged and that no parts are missing. If any components are damaged, the utensil should not be used. Contact qualified service personnel.

Place the utensil on a heat-resistant, dry, flat surface.
Check whether the crumb trays have been inserted properly.

NOTE: Slight smoke may develop the first time you use the toaster, provide for adequate airing.

6. Use

Note the following for trouble-free toast making:

  • A different level of browning can be selected according to the type of bread and your personal taste. Light white bread, currant bread or waffles must be toasted on a low setting darker and heavier types of bread require a higher setting.
  • Set the browning level to 5 (standard setting) to start with until you are familiar with the equipment.
  • Only use bread that fits in the toasting slots. If you press thick toast into the slot by force, the automatic drive will not work properly.

ATTENTION: Do not try to remove jammed toast from the toast slots with a knife or other tool. Pull out the mains plug and let the unit cool down before eliminating the fault.

Special features of the toaster:

  • The toaster has a lift function which allows you to lift small pieces of toast out more easily. When the toast is ready, push the start button upwards to lift the toast up the slots.
  • The toaster has two separate sections. Two toast slots respectively are controlled by a separate controller. So you can toast with different browning levels at the same time or save energy when preparing smaller amounts of toast.
  • The blue display backlight turns off 30 seconds after the last key function. Press + or - or the start button to turn on the backlight. Only when the light is activated, the button for a desired action can be pressed, for example the reheat button.

TOASTING FROZEN BREAD

The Blue Light 4+ Toaster can even toast frozen bread in best quality if necessary. Start toasting as normal. Then push the function button. The button then lights up as well. Toasting can be ended with the Cancel button at any time.

REHEATING TOAST

This function allows you to reheat toasted bread. Start toasting as normal. Then push the function button. The button then lights up as well. Reheating can be ended with the Cancel button at any time.

CANCEL

You can end toasting at any time by pressing this button. The toast is then ejected again normally.

6.1 Toasting

  1. Put the plug in a socket.
  2. Insert the desired number of slices of bread, bagels etc. in the slots.
  3. Set the desired browning level. Level 1 browns least level 9 produces the darkest toast.
  4. Press the start button. The toasting begins and the status display lights up completely. All the status lamps go out gradually until toasting finishes.

NOTE: You can end toasting at any time by pressing the C button.

  1. The toaster automatically ejects the toast when it is ready.
  2. Remove the bread from the toast slots.

NOTE: If it is not brown enough, toast the bread again on a lower setting. Keep an eye on the toaster to make sure the bread does not burn.

ATTENTION: If the toast should get jammed, pull out the mains plug and let the toaster cool down. Remove the toast carefully to avoid damaging the toasting slots.

6.2 Using the bun warmer

The separate bun warmer can be used to heat up cakes, croissants, bagels etc.

  1. Place the bun warmer horizontally on the toasting slots.
  2. Select a low to medium browning level.
  3. Press the start button.
  4. Stop the toasting procedure using the C button or wait until the end of the programme.

Before cleaning, always remove the plug and allow the utensil to cool down. Only clean it when it has cooled down fully.

CAUTION

Material damage

Never use aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents.

  • Pull the mains plug out. Allow the utensil to cool down properly.
  • Remove the crumb trays. Empty the crumbs.

Wipe the trays off with a damp cloth and then dry with a soft cloth.

  • Turn the toaster upside down and shake lightly to get any crumbs out of the inside.
  • Wipe off the outside of the toaster with a damp cloth.
  • Re-insert the crumb trays.

ATTENTION! The crumb trays must be emptied regularly otherwise a fire could be caused.

9. Disposal

The following regulations may only apply for countries of the European Community.

Dispose of the packaging according to type. If you do not wish to keep the unit, dispose of it in accordance with the environmental regulations and current provisions.

We guarantee that this high-quality product is in perfect condition. We will remedy all material or manufacturing defects free of charge within the warranty period.

The warranty period for this product is 24 months.

With industrial or similar use e.g. in hotels, guesthouses or communal facilities, or when the customer is not a consumer in terms of the German Civil Code, the manufacturer provides a warranty of 6 months. This does not affect the warranty exclusion.

Warranty exclusion: the warranty specifically excludes defects that have been caused by incorrect manipulation, disregard of the operating instructions and safety notes, use of force, alterations, attempts at self-repair or repair attempts undertaken by unqualified third parties. Also excluded are defects caused by normal wear & tear.

Insofar as we are legally obliged to provide a warranty, we will either repair or replace the defective item free of charge - with rights of replacement or reduction in price being excluded.
