The Behringer MPA30BT offers two main solutions for connecting a microphone. For a wired microphone, use the combo INST/MIC IN jacks (INPUT 1 and INPUT 2) at the back of the unit. These jacks accept balanced XLR connectors, 6.35 mm balanced jacks, or 6.35 mm unbalanced jacks. Start by plugging the MPA30BT into a power outlet using the supplied IEC cable, then turn all the INPUT LEVEL potentiometers down to the minimum by turning them to the left.
Connect your wired microphone to the corresponding combo jack (INPUT 1 or INPUT 2), then press the POWER button to turn on the unit. Press the MUSIC/SPEECH selector by pushing it in if you are using the microphone for speaking (optimizes the equalization for voice); leave it released for music. While speaking into the microphone, slowly turn the corresponding INPUT LEVEL potentiometer to the right until you achieve a clear and undistorted sound. If the signal is too strong or distorted, slightly reduce the level.
For BEHRINGER wireless microphones, connect the USB receiver dongle into the WIRELESS SYSTEM USB jack. Important: this connection will automatically disable the combo INST/MIC IN jacks. Check that the WIRELESS SYSTEM LEDs light up green to confirm that the system is active. Follow the pairing procedure for your specific wireless microphone, then adjust the INPUT LEVEL in the same way as for a wired microphone.
Once your microphone is set up, adjust the main MAIN LEVEL potentiometer by turning it to the right until you reach a comfortable output level. If you are also streaming music via Bluetooth or the 3.5 mm MP3 input, use the BLUETOOTH/MP3 LEVEL potentiometer to adjust the volume of that audio source independently of the microphone. The unit can operate on mains power or its rechargeable internal battery, providing up to 20 hours of battery life.
