Maintenance and Cleaning
The plancha plate
We recommend cleaning the cooking surfaces after each use.
Upon delivery, the ferritic stainless steel plate of the plancha will have a shiny appearance. Scratches and black spots will soon appear with normal use of the appliance. These are caused by using different utensils and the acids in food. This is perfectly normal. All of these scratches and spots will soon blend and the plate will have a patinated, brushed appearance which will not change further over time. This will not affect cooking in any way.
Cleaning is performed with the appliance switched off and the power lead disconnected. It is easier if the plancha plate is still lukewarm. Do not burn yourself.
Leave the cooking waste collector attached while cleaning the plancha plate.
Use a Krampouz ASC2 elbowed spatula to remove the bulk of the juices that have stuck to the cooking plate and push them towards the cooking waste collector.
Then moisten the cooking plate to water down the remaining juices using a wet sponge. Leave for a few minutes.
Use the spatula to remove the remaining watered down juices and push them towards the cooking waste collector.
Finish cleaning with an abrasive and then a soft sponge.
Pour white vinegar onto the plate to remove residual odours and flavours.
After cooking salty preparations, the cooking plate must be cleaned promptly (otherwise the salt will corrode the plate). Do not use chlorinated products as these may also cause corrosion.
The barbecue grill
After cooking, leave the grill to cool for an hour and then remove it from the frame. Brush the grill using the stainless steel brush included in the Krampouz ASG1 barbecue set. If any cooking waste is stuck to the grill, soak it in water to make it easier to clean. Warning: do not place cold water on the cast iron grill, as the heat shock could damage or break it. You may also place the grill in the dishwasher.
The frame
The ferritic stainless steel frame and black flasks should be cleaned with a moist sponge. Do not use an abrasive or rough sponge or brush. To be performed with the appliance cold.
Fitting the collector
Via the trapdoor on the rear of the appliance, carefully clean stainless steel parts with a moist sponge. To be performed with the appliance cold. Do not cut yourself.
Cooking waste collector
It collects fat and cooking waste. The collector becomes very hot when using the appliance; leave the DUO K to cool before handling it. Each time you use it, remove cooking waste in the aluminium collector to prevent it from catching fire and rinse it with soapy water. The disposable collector must be replaced with a new one when the user sees fit.
Storage
Each time you use it, store your appliance somewhere dry and sheltered, where it cannot be damaged. Krampouz recommends using protective padding ref. AHD1 to protect the appliance during storage. When storing it for a long period, your appliance must be placed indoors.
Our maintenance advice is available at www.krampouz.com
Krampouz offers you a range of separately-sold accessories for installing, using and protecting your DUO K to the full. For more information about these products, please visit our website at www.krampouz.com
