How to load paper in the cassette?

Open the front panel, pull out the cassette, adjust the paper guides, load the paper with the print side down, then push the cassette in. The LCD screen prompts you to register the paper size and type.

How to replace the ink cartridges?

Turn on the printer, open the front cover, the print head holder moves. Remove the empty cartridge, unpack the new one and insert it pushing until it clicks. Close the cover.

How to connect the printer via Wi-Fi?

Press the HOME button, select Network settings, then Change network. Choose your wireless network, enter the password (network key). Follow the on-screen instructions.

How to clear a paper jam?

Turn off the printer, open the rear or front cover depending on the location. Gently remove the jammed paper. Close and turn on again.

How to scan a document?

Place the document with the side to scan facing down on the glass, close the cover. On the LCD screen, select Scan, then choose the destination (computer, email, cloud). Press Color or Black.

How to use the direct connection without a router?

On the LCD screen, go to Network settings, enable Direct connection. An SSID and password are displayed. On your smartphone/computer, connect to this Wi-Fi network and enter the password.

What to do if print quality is poor (faded, streaked)?

Check the ink level. Start a print head cleaning from the control panel or computer. Print a nozzle check pattern to identify clogs.

How to clean the print head?

On the LCD screen, go to Maintenance (or Care), select Head cleaning. You can also do it from the computer via the printer driver, Maintenance tab.

How to set network settings (IP, etc.)?

From the control panel, press HOME, select Network settings, then Advanced settings. You can configure IP address, subnet mask, etc. Also use IJ Network Tool on computer.

Where to find the error code displayed on the screen?

Refer to the 'Error support code list' section in the manual. For example, code 1003 indicates a paper jam. Follow the instructions corresponding to the code.

Power Consumption and Activation Time

The amount of electricity a device consumes depends on the way the device is used. This product is designed and set in a way to allow you to reduce your electricity costs. After the last print it switches to Ready Mode. In this mode it can print again immediately if required. If the product is not used for a time, the device switches to its Power Save Mode. The devices consume less power (Watt) in these modes.

If you wish to set a longer Activation Time or would like to completely deactivate the Power Save Mode, please consider that this device may then only switch to a lower energy level after a longer period of time or not at all.

Canon does not recommend extending the Activation Times from the optimum ones set as default.

Energy Star®

The Energy Star® programme is a voluntary scheme to promote the development and purchase of energy efficient models, which help to minimise environmental impact.

Products which meet the stringent requirements of the Energy Star® programme for both environmental benefits and the amount of energy consumption will carry the Energy Star® logo accordingly.
