How to change the batteries in the Samsung S860?

Open the battery compartment located on the bottom of the camera. Insert two AA alkaline or rechargeable Ni-MH batteries respecting the indicated polarities (+/-). Close the cover by sliding it until it clicks.

What types of memory cards are compatible?

The Samsung S860 accepts SD (up to 2 GB), SDHC (up to 4 GB) and MMC (up to 1 GB) cards. 11 MB of internal memory is also available.

How to take a photo in auto mode?

Turn the mode dial to the AUTO icon. Frame your subject, press the shutter button halfway for focus, then press fully to take the photo. Settings are fully automatic.

How to delete images?

In playback mode, select the image with the Left/Right buttons, then press the DELETE (trash) button. Confirm by choosing YES. You can also delete multiple images by selecting them with the T button, then pressing OK.

How to record a video?

Turn the mode dial to the VIDEO (camcorder) icon. Frame the scene and press the shutter button to start recording. Press again to stop. Optical zoom is available but sound is muted during zoom.

How to use the flash?

The flash is set via the menu or dedicated button. Available modes are: Auto (fires in low light), Red-eye reduction, Slow sync, Flash off. Range is 0.3 to 4.0 m at wide angle and 0.5 to 2.1 m at telephoto.

How to transfer photos to a computer?

Install the Samsung Master software from the included CD. Connect the camera to the computer via the USB cable. Turn on the camera. The software detects the camera and allows you to download images. You can also copy files directly from the memory card using a card reader.

What to do if the camera does not turn on?

First check that the batteries are inserted correctly and sufficiently charged. If using rechargeable batteries, ensure they are charged. Try replacing the batteries. If the problem persists, contact Samsung customer service.

How to clean the lens?

Use a soft, lint-free cloth (microfiber) to gently wipe the lens surface. Do not use chemicals. If stains persist, slightly dampen the cloth with lens cleaner. Do not touch the lens with fingers.

What is the battery life?

With high-capacity AA alkaline batteries, you can take approximately 58 to 118 photos (depending on image quality) with flash off. With rechargeable Ni-MH SNB-2512 batteries (2500 mAh), battery life is similar. Charging time is about 300 minutes with the SBC-N2 charger.

• Do not short circuit, heat, or dispose of the battery in fire.
• Do not insert the battery with reversed polarity.

Do not fire the flash while it is in contact with hands or objects. Do not touch the flash after continuous use, as it may cause burns.

Be careful not to touch the lens or lens cover to avoid capturing unclear images and potentially causing camera malfunction.

Using an AC adapter that does not match the camera specifications may cause malfunction. We recommend using the supplied battery or an exclusive rechargeable battery.

[Battery Type] menu are the same.

Credit cards may be demagnetized if left near a camera case. Avoid leaving magnetic strip cards near the case.

Do not insert the memory card the wrong way around.

Be sure to format the memory card if you are using a newly purchased memory card for the first time, if it contains data that the camera cannot recognize, or if it contains images captured with a different camera.

Before an important event or going on a trip, you should check the camera condition. Samsung cannot be held responsible for camera malfunctions.

The zoom button doesn't use during the movie recording. The recording times can be changed by the zoom operation.

You can select a desired camera mode by using the Mode dial on the top of the camera.

AUTO

Selects this mode for quick and easy picture taking with minimal user interaction.

PHOTO HELP GUIDE

Helps the user to learn the correct picture taking method. This includes solutions for potential problems that may occur, and enables the user to practice shooting.

PROGRAM

Selecting the program mode will configure the camera with optimal settings. You can still manually configure all functions except the aperture value and shutter speed.

PORTRAIT

Use this menu to take a picture of a person.

MANUAL

You can manually configure all functions with the aperture value and shutter speed.

SCENE

Use the menu to easily configure optimal settings for a variety of shooting situations.

DIS

This mode will reduce the effect of camera shake and help you get a well-exposed image in dim conditions.

MOVIE CLIP

A movie clip can be recorded for as long as the available recording time.

Playing back the images

• The last image stored on the memory is displayed.

Press the play button (回).

Select an image to play back by pressing the Left/Right button.

Note: In Manner mode, pressing the play mode button for more than 3 seconds changes the buzzer and start-up sound settings to OFF, even if you had set them to ON.

Deleting images

• This deletes images stored on the memory card.
• Select an image that you want to delete by pressing the Left / Right button and press the DELETE ( 合 ) button.
