Frequently Asked Questions - OFFICEJET 9012 HP

How to print on both sides (duplex)?
To print on both sides, you must have the HP automatic duplex printing accessory installed. In the print driver (Windows), go to the Layout tab and select Flip on long edge or Flip on short edge. On Mac, in the Print dialog, choose Print on both sides from the pop-up menu.
How to replace ink cartridges?
Open the ink cartridge access door (at the front of the printer). Wait until the print carriage is idle. Press gently on the used cartridge to release it, then remove it. Unpack the new cartridge, remove the tape, and insert it into the corresponding slot (black or color) until it snaps into place. Close the door.
How to connect the printer via Wi-Fi?
You can set up Wi-Fi via HP software (recommended) or via WPS. To use WPS, press the Wireless button on the control panel, then enable WPS on your router. Follow on-screen instructions. You can also configure via the Embedded Web Server by accessing the Network tab.
What to do in case of paper jam?
Open the top cover and carefully remove the jammed paper. Check the input tray and the duplex accessory if installed. Avoid tearing the paper. If jams persist, see the Clearing jams section in the manual. To prevent jams, use recommended paper and do not overload the tray.
How to use HP ePrint?
Make sure the printer is connected to the internet and Web Services are enabled. On your computer or smartphone, send an email to your printer's email address (found on the control panel or on ePrintCenter) with the document attached. The printer will print the document. You can manage settings via the Embedded Web Server.
How to align the print head?
On the control panel, press and hold the Cancel button for 3 seconds to print a status report. If the print head alignment icon is lit, you can start alignment from the printer software (Toolbox on Windows or HP Utility on Mac) or via the Embedded Web Server.
How to clean the printer?
Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord. Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened to wipe the exterior of the printer. Avoid liquid spills inside. Do not clean the interior unless instructed in the manual. For the print head, use the cleaning function in HP software.
What types of paper are recommended?
HP recommends using ordinary paper with the ColorLok logo for everyday documents. For photos, use HP Premium Plus, Advanced, or Everyday photo paper. Avoid embossed, perforated, or very thin media. See the Media specifications section in the manual for accepted sizes and weights.
How to check ink levels?
From the control panel, the ink cartridge information icons display estimated levels. You can also check via HP software (Toolbox on Windows or HP Utility on Mac). Levels are estimates; HP recommends replacing cartridges when prompted.
What to do if the printer does not respond?
Check that the printer is on and the power cord is securely connected. Ensure the printer is not in sleep mode (press the Power button). If connected to a network, check the Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection. See the Troubleshooting section in the manual for more details, including the printer status report.
