How to take sharper photos with the HONOR 8 smartphone?
Frequently Asked Questions - 21/04/2026
Response Notice-Facile

The HONOR 8 is equipped with a dual 12-megapixel lens with laser autofocus and an f/2.0 aperture, which is an excellent asset for photography. To make the most of this camera and achieve sharper images, here are some practical tips to apply.

Stabilize your smartphone while shooting. Use a tripod, a stable surface, or hold the phone firmly with both hands to avoid any shake. Even a slight movement can affect sharpness, especially in low light conditions where exposure time increases. The laser focus of the HONOR 8 is very useful in dark environments, but a steady hand remains essential.

Take advantage of the dual sensor for better focus. The HONOR 8 combines two 12 MP sensors: one captures colors and the other captures details in black and white. This allows for extremely precise hybrid autofocus using laser technology, contrast, and depth of field. Always tap on the subject you want to focus on before shooting so that the device correctly focuses on your area of interest.

Optimize your photo settings. Disable the Beauty mode that applies digital filters which can reduce the sharpness of fine details. Use the maximum resolution (12 MP) for your photos. Activate HDR when photographing against the light or in scenes with a large difference in brightness, as it enhances details in both bright and dark areas. Avoid applying filters or effects that degrade image quality.

Master lighting conditions. Preferably photograph with natural light. The HONOR 8 performs well in daylight and twilight thanks to the laser focus. In very low light, slightly increase the exposure if the image appears too dark, but be cautious of increasing digital noise. The built-in LED flash is useful for dark scenes, but it maintains some loss of detail.

Regularly clean the lens. A dirty lens is the main cause of blurry photos. Gently wipe the dual lens with a soft, clean cloth (microfiber preferred) to remove fingerprints, dust, or residues. This can significantly improve perceived sharpness without altering the settings.

Utilize the creative modes of the dual lens. The HONOR 8 allows you to create a professional bokeh effect thanks to its dual sensor: this makes the subject in the foreground very sharp while the background becomes blurred, adding depth to your photos. Use this mode for portraits or close-ups where you want to isolate the subject from its environment.

Getting Started

Follow the instructions in the following figures to set up your device.

microSD of microSD

  • Do not insert or remove the SIM card when your device is powered on.
  • Ensure that the card is correctly aligned and that the card tray is level when you insert it into your device.

Be careful not to scratch your device or hurt yourself when using the eject pin. Store the eject pin out of the reach of children to prevent accidental swallowing or injury.

Do not use cut or modified SIM or microSD cards with your device as these may not be recognised and could damage the card tray.

Dual card dual standby single pass

Your device supports only dual card dual standby single pass, which means you cannot use both SIM cards for calls or data services simultaneously.

  • When you are on a call using SIM card 1, SIM card 2 cannot be used to make or answer calls. If someone calls SIM card 2, the caller will hear a voice message similar to "The subscriber you dialed is out of the service area" or "The subscriber you dialed cannot be connected for the moment, please try again later." The actual message will vary by service provider.
  • When you are using SIM card 1's data service, SIM card 2's data service will be disabled.

Your device's single pass feature helps reduce power consumption and increase your device's standby time. It is not related to your service provider's network conditions.

It may be a good idea to contact your service provider and subscribe to missed call reminder and related assistance services to avoid the conflicts mentioned above.
