Frequently Asked Questions - ME 2 BEGLEC

What types of inputs are available on the BEGLEC ME 2?
The mixer offers 5 channels with 11 inputs: 5 line inputs (RCA), 2 phono inputs (RCA), and 4 microphone inputs (6.3 mm jack) including one XLR input for the balanced DJ microphone.
How to connect a turntable?
Connect the turntable to the Phono1 or Phono2 input on the rear, then set the corresponding channel's input selector to 'phono'. If humming occurs, connect the turntable's ground wire to the Ground terminal on the mixer.
Does the equalizer work on all channels?
No, the 3-band equalizer (treble, mid, bass) only affects the master output signal. It can be enabled or disabled via the dedicated switch.
How to use the echo effect?
Activate the effect with the Echo on/off switch (5). Then adjust the echo level (6), the number of repeats (7), and the delay time (8) to your preference. The echo is applied to the master output.
Can I listen to a channel in the headphones without affecting the main output?
Yes, use the pre-listening (Cue) function. Select the desired channel with the selector (9) and adjust the level with the potentiometer (10). Plug the headphones into the 6.3 mm jack socket (11).
What to do if the sound is distorted?
Check that the channel faders (19) and the master volume (12) do not exceed the red zone of the VU meters. Also ensure that the input selectors are correctly positioned (e.g., do not set a CD player to phono position).
How to clean the mixing console?
Use a soft, slightly damp cloth. Never use abrasive products or solvents. Avoid liquid entering the inside of the device.
What type of fuse to use and how to replace it?
Use a 20 mm glass fuse, 250V and 500 mA, slow blow. To replace it, unplug the device, open the fuse holder at the rear, and insert an identical fuse.
The mixer produces a humming sound, what should I check?
Check the grounding of the turntables by connecting their ground wire to the Ground terminal of the mixer. Also ensure that all cables are in good condition and that the mixer is not near sources of electromagnetic interference.
Can I use microphones with a jack plug on the XLR input of the DJ microphone?
Yes, the XLR input accepts microphones with XLR connection. If your microphone has a jack, you can use a female XLR to male jack adapter (e.g., JB Systems 5-3381).

CONNECTIONS

Except for microphones and headphone, all connections are cinch. Use good quality cinch-cinch cables to prevent bad audio quality. (example: JB Systems code: 2-0370) For more information on connections, please refer to the next chapter.

Be sure to turn off the mixer before you make changes to the different connections. In this manual we talk about "line inputs". This is a global name for inputs with a level between 750mV and 2V. This includes tuners, videos, CD-players, etc.

FRONT PANEL

  1. Power (Power ON/OFF switch): Used to turn on the power of the mixer.
  2. VU-meters: Used to monitor the level of the different audio signals. With the channel faders you can change the input level of each connected audio source. Make sure the levels do not exceed 0dB (or 100% ). The audio risks to be distorted when the signal level comes in the red zone of the VU-meter. You can also use the VU-meter to compare the signal level of the input channels with that of the master output.
  3. Equalizer on/off switch: Used to switch the 3band equalizer on and off. The equalizer works on the mixed output signal.
  4. Equalizer controls: When the equalizer is switched on, you can use these 3 faders to change the audio to your personal taste.
  5. Echo on/off switch: Used to switch the internal echo effect on and off. The echo effect works on the mixed output signal.
  6. Echo level control: Used to control the level of the echo signal that will be mixed with the original. Use it to make the perfect balance between the original and the effect signal.
  7. Echo repeat control: Used to control the feedback or number of echoes you want to create. Together with the delay time (8) you will be able to create the echo you desire.
  8. Echo Delay time: With this control you can set the length of the delay time. Together with the repeat time (7) you will be able to create the echo you desire.
  9. Cue selector: Used to select the source you want to monitor. You can listen to any input channel while its channel fader is closed.
  10. Cue level: Used to control the output level of the headphone output.

  11. Headphone jack: You can connect any modern stereo headphone to this 6.3mm jack. Together with the cue selector (9) and the cue level (10) you can use it to listen to the selected input channel.

  12. Master volume: Controls the level of the master output. You can adapt this level to your personal taste.
  13. Input selector channel5: You can choose between the 2 line inputs connected on the rear of the mixer. Both sources can be connected at the same time, just select which one you want to select on channel 5.
  14. Input selector channel4: You can choose between a phono, micro and line input, connected on the rear of the mixer. When you connect a micro phone to the "micro4" input, switch the selector to "mic4". The phono and line source can't be connected at the same time! When you connect a turntable, put the selector to "phono2". When you connect a source with line level output (like a CD-player), switch the selector to "CD2".
Attention: The sound becomes very distorted when you connect a CD-player and set the switch to "phono2", be careful!
  15. Input selector channel3: You can choose between a phono, micro and line input, connected on the rear of the mixer. When you connect a micro phone to the "micro3" input, switch the selector to "mic3". The phono and line source can't be connected at the same time! When you connect a turntable, put the selector to "phono1". When you connect a source with line level output (like a CD-player), switch the selector to "CD1".
Attention: The sound becomes very distorted when you connect a CD-player and set the switch to "phono1", be careful!
  16. Input selector channel2: You can choose between a micro or line input, connected on the rear of the mixer. When you connect a micro phone to the "micro2" input, switch the selector to "mic2". When you connect a source with line level output (like a CD-player) to the "line1" input, switch the selector to "line1".
  17. Input connector DJ Micro: The DJ micro can only be connected to the XLR input on the front plate. This input is balanced but accepts any kind of microphone equipped with an XLR connector. If your micro only has a jack connector, you can use a special adapter such as the JB Systems "5-3381".
  18. Talkover switch: Use this switch to mute the music channels (2 to 5) while you are talking through the DJ microphone. You can choose to mute the music by 12dB or 18dB.
  19. Channel faders: Used to set the level of each channel separately.
