BSW: LA SOLUTION

advance® acoustic

At Advance Acoustic, we worked hard on a most important problem for the loudspeakers: the tremendous internal air pressures generated by the subwoofer, in vented-box or sealed cabinet, with unwanted vibrations and colorations.

Despite the use of new absorbant materials inside the cabinet, several standing waves are present in some precise areas in the cabinet, with unwanted and colored sound radiations.

Several solutions are used by the speakers developers : shell-like enclosures, internal bracing, new materials (carbon fiber). At Advance Acoustic, we know and use some of these solutions (specially selected and very thick wood panels, internal reinforcements), but they are yet no sufficient.

One of a radical solution is to use moving panels, but it's not possible because one of the most important thing is to get unshakeable and very rigid cabinet, for a maximum delivery in bass, with minimum vibration...

To eliminate radically this problem, Advance Acoustic ha developed BSW : the Breaking Stationary Wave.

It's a thin steel rod, working as a spring, at the end of which is set an « ove » (a kind of egg), in semi-reflecting rubber.

AVANTAGES :

  1. The « ove » and his axis are a totally no noise and vibration-free system.
  2. This Breaking Stationary Wave system act as a real acoustic servo-controller and regulator.
  3. Dramatically improved bass (speed and stiffness).
  4. Medium and treble frequencies are more natural, with sound coloration drastically reduced.

Figure B.

Figure C.

No new formation of standing waves, because the changes of the « ove » position.

A, B & C are air pressure waves
D, E & F are reflecting waves

GUIDE DE L'UTILISATEUR

1. Read Instructions

Please read and follow all the instructions in this manual before enjoying your loudspeakers.

2. Water and Moisture

The loudspeakers should not be used near water, in a wet basement or near a swimmingpool. Under no circumstance should plants or fish bowls be placed on the products.

3. Heat

The loudspeakers should not be placed near any heat source such as radiators, open fires, stoves, direct sunlight and any other appliance that produces heat.

The Elysée loudspeakers are designed for use within the home environment. Exposure to extreme temperatures and humidity when placed on patios or open conditions could adversely affect the wooden cabinets.

4. Cleaning

Great care and attention has gone into the materials chosen to produce the Elysée range of loudspeakers. It is our intention that they should provide a lifetime of musical pleasure. A gentle wipe with a dry, clean cloth is allthat is required to remove any dust. On high lacquer finishes, please ensure the duster is free of any foreign objects to avoid scratching the surface. You can clean with a soft and wet cloth.

Clean carefully the railing with a vacuum cleaner. Avoid touching the drive units whilst cleaning, as any damage will impair their performance.

INTRODUCTION

The Elysée range of loudspeaker perpetuates the long time commitment of AA to the faithful reproduction of sound.

Loudspeakers Unpacking :

if you think your loudspeakers have been damaged during transport, please contact immediately your Advance Acoustic authorised retailer. Keep the complete packaging.

Location of loudspeakers in your living-room is very important. A good place allows to control the room defects, and avoids annoying acoustic reflections. We advise you not to place them directly against the wall, either in one corner of the room, or directly on the ground ( please use the joined spikes).

The reflective surfaces near to the loudspeakers can have some negative effects on the stereo image. If so, please try to move slightly the loudspeakers inside of the listening zone till you

obtain the better sound.

It's really important to the loudspeakers EL250 and EL210 to have the bass drivers inside so face to face. In some cases of reverberation room whose walls are far more than a metre of loudspeakers, it's possible to reverse the loudspeakers position.

Test carefully on several CD.

ADVANCE EL-250 - Loudspeakers Unpacking : - 1

The EL170 loudspeaker should not be used directly on the ground, but on a stand or on a shelf without any vibration.

To use vertically the EL170 loudspeaker ( as a central loudspeaker), please use the base joined into the packaging.

Wiring system :

Please check if all the material is switched off before starting the connections.

To connect the loudspeakers, use a quality cable with polarity mark. You can identify the positive side by a stripe at the end of the cable or another mark (ie: +).
