Important safety instructions

• Loudspeaker lines (amplifier outputs) can have a sufficiently high voltage (i.e. 100V) to involve a risk of electrocution; never install or connect this loudspeaker when the line is alive.
• Make sure all connections have been made correctly and the loud-speaker input voltage (in a constant voltage system) or its impedance is suitable for the amplifier output.
• Protect loudspeaker lines from damage; make sure they are positioned in a way that they cannot be stepped on or crushed by objects.
• To prevent inductive effects from causing hum, noise and a bad system working, loudspeaker lines should not be laid together with other electric cables (mains), microphone or line level signal cables connected to amplifier inputs.
• Never attempt to carry out any operations, modifications or repairs that are not expressly described in this manual. Contact your authorized service centre or qualified personnel.
• Also check the suitability of the support surface to which the product is anchored (wall, ceiling, structure, etc.) and the components used for attachment (screws, screw anchors, etc.).
• Use only the optional devices / accessories specified by the manufacturer.
• Never use the handles, brackets or other elements of the module to directly suspend the modules or the system.

This manual contains important about the correct and safe use of the device. Description

Steeped in classic Italian design and acoustic expertise, VERTUS has been created with the aim of extending true line array technology, an undisputed success in the field of professional audio, into a new range of applications within both the live and fixed installation fields.

The new version sound reinforcement of CLA 118 has been designed to meet the various needs of system users; when you need to extend the performance of the CLA 406.2, especially in live applications, the CLA 118S acts as a support and base for the CLA 406.2 column that can be applied, via optional hardware, with M20 points positioned on the top of the sub. VERTUS CLA 118S is a subwoofer in wooden cabinet with a 18" woofer from B&C in a bass reflex and a 3" coil and port with an extensive laminar airflow, minimizing turbulence and power compression.

Speakon

Speakon connectors are connected in parallel mode. One connector can be used to connect the box to the output of a power amplifier, the other to connect to a second box. Loudspeaker cables shall have the adequate diameter, depending on the overall lenght of the connection. The resistance introduced by an inadequate wiring towards the loudspeakers would reduce both the power output and the damping factor of the loudspeaker. Speakon is a connector which is specially adapted for connecting power terminals to loudspeakers; when inserted in an appropriate socket it locks so as to prevent accidental disconnection; moreover, it is equipped with protection against electrical shocks and guarantees correct polarisation.

DSP Preset

VERTUS CLA is a highly acoustically complex system that needs to be run by processed amplifiers (with on-board DSP) configured with presets specifically developed by FBT. Using the CLA system with presets other than those validated by FBT, or without any specific presets, not only makes it impossible to guarantee adequate performance, but also risks compromising the reliability of the internal components and as such is absolutely prohibited.

Unprocessed amplifiers can also be used, but these will need to be connected upstream with a Digital Loudspeaker Processor with presets authorised by FBT, which guarantees proper alignment, equalisation and protection of the system.

Cardioid configurations are useful to cancel low frequencies from the stage and consequently to improve critical microphone recordings. The cardioid configuration enable a cardioid distribution of the SPL from Subwoofers, reducing rear sound pressure. It is perfect when the energy of low frequencies has to be attenuated, for example on the stage or in areas where it should be avoided due to noise pollution.

For this purpose, a rear sub shall be employed every two front subs. The majority of the energy generated by the rear sub is used to cancel the energy of the other two front sub, so that the maximum overall SPL of the 3 subs in the front area is equal to +1db approximately compared to a non-cardioid configuration with two front subs only. Obviously, this configuration is valid also with a FRONT sub and a REAR sub. Subs position is very important in order to obyail the best possible rear attenuation.

The speakers included in VERTUS series can be installed in the following ways:

• Suspended array installation by flying bar
• Stack installation through pole mounting,
• With subwoofer on the floor

For installation on subwoofer use one of the accessories available (optional) between the model VT-S 0 406 or VT-S 30 406 according to the desired height.
