IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS

• Carefully read all instructions before operating and save for future reference.
• To protect against electric shock, do not immerse the grinder, plug or cord in water or any other liquid.
• Remove any promotional stickers or packaging materials before using the coffee grinder for the first time.
• Do not place the appliance near the edge of a bench or table during operation. Always use the appliance on a dry, level surface.
• To turn the appliance off, remove the plug from the power outlet. Remove the plug when the appliance is not being used and before cleaning.
• The Coffee Grinding should not be switched on until the bean container and lid are locked into position in the Grinding Chamber.
• Do not leave the appliance unattended when in use.
• Do not move the grinder whilst in operation.
• Do not place this appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or where it could touch a heated oven.
• Do not use on metal surfaces, for example, a sink drain board.
• Do not use on an inclined surface.
• Do not operate this appliance for longer

than 2 minutes at a time as this could cause overheating. Allow to cool for at least 2 minutes after each use. Allow appliance to cool down for 10-15 minutes after long operation.

• Keep the appliance clean. Follow the cleaning instructions provided in this book.
• Avoid contacting moving parts
• The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock or injury.
• Check Hopper for presence of foreign objects before using.
• This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way.

FOR ALL ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES

• Fully unwind the cord before use.
• Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter, touch hot surfaces or become knotted.
• The appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons unless they have been adequately supervised by a responsible person to ensure that they can use the appliance safely.
• Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

• It is recommended to regularly inspect the appliance. Do not use the appliance if power supply cord, plug or actual appliance becomes damaged in any way. Return the entire appliance to the nearest authorised Breville service centre for examination and/or repair.

• This appliance is for household use only. Do not use this appliance for anything other than its intended use. Do not use in moving vehicles or boats. Do not use outdoors.

• The installation of a residual current device (safety switch) is recommended to provide additional safety protection when using electrical appliances. It is advisable that a safety switch with a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30mA be installed in the electrical circuit supplying the appliance. See your electrician for professional advice.

Before first use, remove any promotional stickers or packaging material attached to your coffee grinder.

1. Remove the Bean Container, Bean Container Lid and Ground Coffee Container and wash in warm soapy water with a soft cloth. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Before each use, ensure Grinding Chamber and Ground Coffee Container are clean and empty.
2. Remove the Burr Grinding inside the Grinding Chamber by gripping the small inner black plastic frame and pulling out the top ring.
3. Using a soft cloth, wipe off any excess protecting oil from the Burr Grinding and place it back into the Grinding Chamber.
4. Place the Bean Container into the Grinding Chamber so the 'ALIGN' arrow on the Bean Container aligns with the 'ALIGN' arrow on top left-hand side of the Grinding. Turn the Bean Container clockwise to lock into position.
5. Measure the desired quantity of whole coffee beans or spices directly into the Bean Container and cover with Bean Container lid.
6. Plug the Grinding into a 110v power outlet.
7. To select the desired fineness of grind, rotate the Bean Container and align the white marker on the front panel of the Grinding with one of the following settings:

COARSE -Percolator

MEDIUM - French Press

FINE -Filter

EXTRA FINE -Espresso

SUPER FINE - Turkish

NOTE:

In order to remove any excess protecting oils from the Burr Grinding, it is necessary to grind 1.75 oz (50g) of coffee beans on the Super Fine (Turkish) setting. Discard this initial ground coffee.

1. Rotate the Timer Selector Dial to select the desired grinding time.
2. Press the 'START' button on the front of the Grinding to begin grinding. The Coffee Grinding will begin grinding the coffee/spices directly into the Ground Coffee Container and will stop automatically when grinding is complete. To stop the grinding cycle at any time, push the 'START' button again. If the 'START' button is pressed again, the grinder will start from the beginning of the timed cycle.
3. Remove the plug from the power outlet.
4. Gently tap the side of the Grinding, above the Ground Coffee Container, so that any grinds remaining in the release chute are released into the Ground Coffee Container.
5. Remove the Bean Container, Bean Container Lid and Ground Coffee Container and wash in warm soapy water with a soft cloth. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
6. Wipe the Grinding Chamber with a soft dry cloth and replace the Bean Container, Bean Container Lid and Ground Coffee Container back into position.
7. Rewind the power cord into the cord storage area located under the Grinding base.

HANDY HINTS

• For best flavor, grind coffee beans in an airtight container.
• Grind coffee beans immediately before brewing.
• Grinding times will vary depending on amount and grind fineness.
• To ensure optimal grinding performance, allow Coffee Grinding to cool for at least 2 minutes between uses.
• Coffee flavor and strength is a personal preference. Vary the type of coffee beans, amount of coffee and fineness of grind to find the flavor you prefer.
• The Conical Burr Grinding will not grind food that is sticky or extremely hard ie. chocolate, cheese, whole nutmeg, candied fruits, etc.
• The Conical Burr Grinding will not make pastes of any fruits, seeds or herbs ie. curry pastes, nut batters.

The Grind (for espresso machines)

• When the grind is too fine (feels powdery like flour and tends to clump together when compressed), there is no space between the grinds for water to pass through. Not only can this block the Dual Wall Filter, but the espresso will be over-extracted, dark and bitter.
• When the grind is too coarse (feels like granulated sugar), water will pass through the grinds too quickly, resulting in espresso that is under-extracted and lacking flavor.
• The perfect espresso grind will produce a layer of caramel coloredcrema that floats on top of the espresso following extraction. The grind should feels like fine sand. When rubbed between your fingertips it will slightly stain them while keeping its granular consistency.

CARE & CLEANING BREVILLE CONICAL BURR GRINDER ™

Do not immerse the Grinding, power cord or power plug in water or any other liquid.

Do not fill the Grinding Chamber with water or any other liquid.

1. Unplug the Grinding from the power outlet before cleaning.
2. Remove the Bean Container by turning counterclockwise until the 'ALIGN' arrow on the Bean Container aligns with the 'ALIGN' arrow on top left-hand side of the Grinding, then lift straight up.
3. Remove the Ground Coffee Container by pulling out from the left-hand side of the Coffee Grinding.
4. The Removable Ground Coffee Container, Bean Container and Lid should be washed in warm soapy water, rinsed and dried thoroughly.
5. Wipe the stainless steel housing of the Grinding with a soft, damp cloth. Polish with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasives as these may scratch the surface.

ONE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY

Breville®* warrants this Breville® appliance against defects that are due to faulty material or workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of original consumer purchase. This warranty does not cover damage from abuse, neglect, use for commercial purposes, or any other use not found in the printed "Instructions for use" booklet. There is no warranty for glass parts, glass containers, filter basket, blades and agitators. HWI Breville® expressly claim all responsibility for consequential damages for incidental losses caused by use of this appliance. Some states or provinces do not allow this exclusion or limitation for incidental or consequential losses, so the foregoing disclaimer may not apply to you.

ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS WITH RESPECT TO THIS PRODUCT IS ALSO LIMITED TO THE ONE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY PERIOD.
