Frequently Asked Questions - THERMOSENSE 400 CECOTEC

How to use the kettle for the first time?
Fill the kettle with water without exceeding the maximum capacity, place it on its base, plug it in, then press the switch. Let the water boil twice in a row without adding any product. This operation prepares the appliance before first use.
What to do if the kettle turns off before the water boils?
This can be due to the presence of scale or a lack of water. Clean the inside to remove limescale, or fill with cold water and wait two minutes for the appliance to restart.
How to descale the kettle?
Pour half a litre of white vinegar and let it sit for one hour. Then rinse with clean water four to five times. You can also boil half a litre of water with 25 ml of lemon juice, let it sit for fifteen minutes, then rinse.
The kettle is not working, what to check?
Check that the appliance is correctly plugged into a working socket. If the cable is damaged, stop using it and contact Cecotec technical service. Starting without water also activates the protection and prevents operation.
Can the kettle be immersed in water for cleaning?
No, never immerse the kettle, its cable or plug in water or another liquid. To clean the outside, use a damp cloth without abrasive detergent.
How much water can I put in the kettle?
The maximum capacity is 1.7 litres. Use the water level indicator on the side to not exceed this limit and avoid any ejection of boiling water.
The indicator light comes on but the water does not heat up, why?
If the light is on but the water is not heating, the heating element may be scaled or the appliance may have overheated. Unplug the kettle, wait for it to cool down, then descale before trying again.
Can I heat liquids other than water?
No, this kettle is designed only to heat water. Using milk, tea or other liquids can damage the appliance and cause a burn risk.
How to avoid burns during use?
Do not touch hot surfaces during operation and until completely cool. Use the handle, do not open the lid when the water is boiling, and never direct steam towards your face.
The kettle water smells bad or contains limescale, what to do?
During first use, a complete cleaning is recommended. If the smell persists, fill the kettle to the maximum, add two tablespoons of baking soda, boil, then empty. If you have hard water, descale regularly to avoid limescale deposits.
