Frequently Asked Questions - KDL-70R551A SONY

How do I connect external devices such as a Blu-ray player?
Connect the player to one of the 4 HDMI ports using an HDMI cable. Then press the Input button on the remote control and select the correct HDMI input. If no picture appears, check the device power and cable.
How can I access Netflix and other online apps?
Make sure the TV is connected to the internet: press Home to open the main menu, go to Settings > Network and set up a Wi-Fi or wired connection. Then select the BRAVIA Internet Video application to launch Netflix, YouTube and other services.
Why is the TV showing 'No Signal'?
Press Input on the remote and make sure you select the correct HDMI or antenna source. Check that the external device is turned on and the cable is securely plugged in. If using an over-the-air antenna, run the channel setup in the menu.
How do I adjust the picture settings for sports or movies?
Press Home, open Settings > Picture and choose a scene mode such as Vivid, Standard, Cinema, or Game. You can then fine-tune brightness, contrast, sharpness and color temperature.
Does the KDL-70R551A require an antenna for cable TV?
Yes, the TV has a F-type antenna input for traditional RF signals. Connect the cable from your cable provider or antenna, then go to Settings > Channel Setup and run Auto Program to store available channels.
What is the recommended way to clean the television screen?
Turn off and unplug the TV. Use a soft dry microfiber cloth to gently wipe the screen in straight lines. Do not spray water or any cleaning solution directly onto the panel, as liquid could damage the LED display.
Can I use any wall mount with this television?
This model is compatible with VESA 400 x 300 mm mounts. Use a bracket that can support at least 25 kg, which covers this TV's weight. For safety, hire a professional installer.
How do I perform a factory reset?
Press Home, go to Settings > Product Support, then select Reset. Enter the PIN if prompted (default is 0000). This will erase all picture, sound and network settings and return the TV to its factory state.
The remote control stops working; what should I do?
First check the batteries and replace them if necessary. Make sure nothing is blocking the IR sensor on the TV. If the issue persists, try inserting new batteries and pressing the power button directly on the TV.
Is there a USB media player function?
Yes, connect a USB drive or external hard drive to any of the 3 USB ports. Press Home and select Media; you can then play video, JPEG photos and music files stored on the drive.
