Getting started

About MySpace for BlackBerry devices

You can use MySpace® for BlackBerry® devices to stay connected with your friends. You can send messages to friends, post bulletins, add friends, view notifications, upload photos to your MySpace® account, and more. You can upload photos from the media application or from attachments. If your BlackBerry device has a camera, you can also upload photos that you take with the camera.

If you already have a MySpace account, you can use your existing login information to log in to MySpace for BlackBerry devices. To get a MySpace account, visit www.myspace.com.

You can download MySpace for BlackBerry devices from the BlackBerry App World™ storefront.

Requirements

• a BlackBerry device with a trackball, touchscreen, or trackpad
• BlackBerry® Device Software version 4.2 or later
• A wireless service plan that includes Internet access
  960 KB of available application memory
  An existing MySpace account

New features

Feature	Description
blogs	You can post blog entries, edit blog entries, and delete blog entries. You can also view your friends' blogs.
notifications	You can choose which MySpace® email notifications you want to receive. You can also choose to stop receiving a new item indicator on the Home screen of your BlackBerry® device when you receive a new MySpace profile comment or friend request.
custom moods	You can type a custom mood for your MySpace profile.

Log in to MySpace for BlackBerry devices

1. On the Home screen of the BlackBerry® device or in the application list, click the MySpace icon.
2. Type your login information.
3. Click Login.

To log out, press the Menu key. Click Options. Click Log Out.

Switch MySpace accounts

1. On the MySpace® home screen, press the Menu key.
2. Click Log Out.
3. Type the login information.
4. Click Login.

View your MySpace profile

1. Press the Menu key.
2. Click My Profile.

Change your status

1. On the MySpace® home screen, highlight your status.
2. Type a new status.
3. Click Update.

Change your mood

1. On the MySpace® home screen, click your mood.
2. Perform one of the following tasks:

To choose an existing mood, click a mood.
To create a new mood, type your mood.

1. Click Update.

Check for the latest version of MySpace for BlackBerry devices

You can check whether a new version of MySpace® for BlackBerry® devices is available for you to download over the wireless network.

1. Press the Menu key.
2. Click Options.
3. Click Check for upgrade now.
4. Complete the instructions on the screen.

Shortcuts

In a message

To move to the top of a message, press T.
To move to the bottom of a message, press B.

In a photo

To view the next photo in the album, press N.
To view the previous photo in the album, press P.

Notifications

Stop receiving a new item indicator on the Home screen of your device

By default, a new item indicator appears on the Home screen of your BlackBerry® device when you receive a new MySpace® message, profile comment, or friend request. You can choose to stop receiving a new item indicator when you receive a new profile comment or friend request.

1. Press the Menu key.
2. Click Options.
3. Clear the check box beside an item.
4. Press the Menu key.
5. Click Save.

Change the email notification options for your MySpace account

You can receive a MySpace® email notification for several actions and items in MySpace. You can choose which MySpace email notifications you want to receive. MySpace email notifications are sent to the email address that you specified in your MySpace account.

1. Press the Menu key.
2. Click Options.
3. Beside Email notifications, click Customize.
4. Select or clear the check boxes beside the actions.
5. Press the Menu key.
6. Click Save.

Prevent notifications from appearing in the messages application

1. Press the Menu key.
2. Click Options.
3. Clear the Show notifications in message list check box.

Friends

View a friend's MySpace profile

You can view a friend's photos, comments, and friends list from a friend's profile.

1. Click the friends icon at the top of the screen.
2. Change the Display field.
3. Click a friend.

Send a friend request

You can add friends to your friends list by sending friend requests to MySpace® users.

1. On the MySpace home screen, press the Menu key.
2. Click Search.
3. Type a first name and last name, display name, or email address.
4. Click Search.
5. Click a MySpace user.
6. Click Add to Friends.
7. If necessary, type a message.
8. Click Add to Friends.

Search for a MySpace user

1. On the MySpace® home screen, press the Menu key.
2. Click Search.
3. Type a first name and last name, display name, or email address.
4. Click Search.
5. Click a MySpace user.

Accept or decline a friend request

1. Click the friend request icon at the top of the screen.
2. Click a friend request.
3. Click Accept Friend request, Deny Friend request, or Mark as spam.

Messages, comments, and bulletins

Send a message

1. Click the envelope icon at the top of the screen.
2. Press the Menu key.
3. Click Compose.
4. Type part of a friend's name.
5. Click a friend.
6. Type a message.
7. Click Send.

Save a draft of a message

1. When composing a message, press the Menu key.
2. Click Save Draft.

Delete a message

1. Click the envelope icon at the top of the screen.

2. Click a message.

3. Press the Menu key.

4. Click Delete.

View or hide sent messages

1. Press the Menu key.
2. Click Options.
3. Select or clear the Hide sent mail messages check box.

View only sent messages

1. Click the envelope icon at the top of the screen.
2. Press the Menu key.
3. Click View Sent Folder.

Post a comment

You can post a comment on your profile, a friend's profile, a bulletin, or a photo.

1. Perform any of the following actions:

2. To post a comment in your profile, press the Menu key. Click My Profile. Click View comments. Click Add comment.

3. To post a comment in a friend's profile, click the friends icon at the top of the screen. Change the display field. Click a friend. Click View comments. Click Add comment.
4. To post a comment in a bulletin, press the Menu key. Click My bulletins. Click a bulletin. Click Add Comment.

5. To post a comment on a photo, click the camera icon at the top of the screen. Click an album. Click a photo. Press the Menu key. Click View/Add comment.

6. Type a comment.

7. Click Post Comment.

To delete a comment, click a comment. Press the Menu key. Click Delete.

Delete a profile comment

1. Click the My Comments icon at the top of the screen.
2. Click a comment.
3. Press the Menu key.
4. Click Delete until the My Comments screen appears.

View a bulletin

1. Press the Menu key.
2. Click My Bulletins.
3. Click a bulletin.

Post a bulletin

1. On the MySpace® home screen, press the Menu key.
2. Click My Bulletins.
3. Press the Menu key.
4. Click Post Bulletin.
5. Type a message.
6. Click Send.

Reply to a bulletin

When you reply to a bulletin, your reply is sent to your friend's MySpace® inbox.

1. Press the Menu key.
2. Click My bulletins.
3. Click a bulletin.
4. Press the Menu key.
5. Click Reply.
6. Type a message.
7. Press the Menu key.
8. Click Send.

Delete a bulletin

1. On the MySpace® home screen, press the Menu key.
2. Click My Bulletins.
3. Click a bulletin.
4. Press the Menu key.
5. Click Delete.

Blogs

View your blog

1. Press the Menu key.
2. Click My Blog.
3. Click a blog entry.

View a friend's blog

1. Click the My Friends icon at the top of the screen.
2. Change the Top Friends field.
3. Click a friend.
4. Click View Blog.
5. Click a blog entry.

Post a new blog entry

1. Press the Menu key.
2. Click My Blog.
3. Click Post New Blog.
4. Type a subject and blog entry.

5. Perform any of the following actions:

6. To allow friends to post comments on your blog entry, select the Allow Comments check box.

7. To add a category to your blog entry, change the Category field.
8. To add a mood to your blog entry, in the Mood field, click a mood.

9. To change the privacy options for your blog entry, change the Privacy field.

10. Click Post Blog.

Edit a blog entry

1. Press the Menu key.
2. Click My Blog.
3. Click a blog entry.
4. Click Edit.
5. Edit your blog entry.
6. Click Post Blog.

Delete a blog entry

1. Press the Menu key.
2. Click My Blog.
3. Click a blog entry.
4. Press the Menu key.
5. Click Delete Blog.
6. Click Delete.

Photos

Upload a photo

1. In a BlackBerry® device application, click a photo.
2. Press the Menu key.
3. Click Send To MySpace.

4. Perform any of the following actions:

7. Click Upload.

View photos that you uploaded to MySpace

1. Click the camera icon at the top of the screen.
2. Click an album.
3. Click a photo.

Delete a photo

1. Click the camera icon at the top of the screen.
2. Click an album.

4. Press the Menu key.
5. Click Delete Photo.
