Frequently Asked Questions - CKFI4177 Elvita

How do I adjust the temperature on my Elvita CKFI4177 refrigerator?
The temperature is controlled by a mechanical thermostat located inside the fridge. Turn the dial to a higher number for colder temperatures. Typically, setting 3 to 4 is recommended for normal use.
What should I do if the refrigerator is not cooling properly?
Check if the thermostat is set correctly, ensure the door is sealing properly, and that the condenser coils (usually at the back) are clean and free of dust. Also, avoid overloading the fridge which can block air circulation.
Can I reverse the door opening direction?
Yes, the door is reversible. You can change the hinges to open from the left or right. Follow the instructions in the user manual for step-by-step guidance.
How often should I defrost the refrigerator?
The Elvita CKFI4177 features automatic defrost for the fridge compartment, so manual defrosting is not required. However, the small freezer compartment may need manual defrosting when ice builds up to about 5 mm.
What is the noise level of the refrigerator?
The noise level is approximately 40 dB, which is quiet and similar to a library. If you hear unusual sounds, check that the fridge is level and not in contact with walls or cabinets.
How do I clean the refrigerator?
Unplug the fridge before cleaning. Use a soft cloth with mild detergent and warm water. Avoid abrasive cleaners. Remove shelves and drawers for thorough cleaning. Wipe the door seals regularly.
What is the energy consumption of the CKFI4177?
The annual energy consumption is 182 kWh, which is efficient for a refrigerator of this size. It is rated A+ energy class.
How do I change the interior light bulb?
The CKFI4177 uses an LED light which is long-lasting. If it fails, contact a qualified technician to replace it, as LED modules are not user-serviceable.
What is the recommended temperature setting for storing food?
For the fridge compartment, set the thermostat to 4°C (39°F) to ensure food stays fresh. The freezer compartment should be around -18°C (0°F).
Where can I find replacement parts for my Elvita CKFI4177?
Replacement parts can be ordered through authorized Elvita service centers or online retailers. Common parts like shelves and door bins are available. Check the user manual for part numbers.

Storing food

Store food in the fridge

Elvita CKFI4177 - Store food in the fridge - 1

WARNING!

Do not overload the shelves, door racks or put too much food in the drawers to avoid items falling and causing injury or damage to the fridge freezer.

Elvita CKFI4177 - WARNING! - 1

CAUTION!

• Always follow food storage times and expiration dates suggested by manufacturers. - Opening the door for long periods can cause a significant increase of the temperature in the compartments. - Store raw meat and fish in suitable containers in the fridge, so that it is not in contact with or drip onto other food.

Elvita CKFI4177 - CAUTION! - 1

CAUTION!

Do not close the door while any shelves are extended or drawers are open. It may damage the shelves, drawers and door.

Elvita CKFI4177 - CAUTION! - 1

NOTE!

To avoid wasting energy:

  • Do not store warm food or evaporating liquid in the fridge freezer. Placing hot food directly into the fridge or freezer causes the internal temperature to rise, resulting in the compressor having to work harder and therefore consume more energy. Warm food and beverages must cool down to room temperature before storing them.
  • Do not keep the doors open for longer periods.
  • Do not line the inside of the drawer or shelves with aluminium foil, wax paper, or paper towels. This could interfere with air circulation and make the fridge less efficient.

Use the following tips and recommendations when storing food in the fridge.

When refrigerating fresh food:

  • Cover or wrap the food, particularly if it has a strong flavour.
  • Place the food so that air can circulate freely around it.
  • During power outage, foods can be kept for several hours. Do not open the door during power outage, and do not put any more fresh food into the fridge.

Other refrigerating recommendations:

Food Recommendation
Meat (all types) Wrap in polythene and place on the glassshelf above the drawer for fruit and vegetables
Cooked food, cold dishes etc.Cover and place on any shelf
Fruit and vegetablesStore in the drawer for fruit and vegetables
Butter and cheeseWrap in airtight foil or plastic film wrap

Food Recommendation

Milk bottles, other bottled drinks, and canned liquids: Ensure bottles have a lid and store in the door racks.

Eggs and packed foods: Store in the door racks, put eggs in the egg holder.

Store food in the freezer

Elvita CKFI4177 - Store food in the freezer - 1

WARNING!

  • Do not place food or containers in the freezer compartment with wet hands when the fridge freezer is running, especially metal containers, to avoid the risk of skin abrasions and ice burns.
  • Do not consume frozen food, such as ice popsicles and ice cubes, straight from the freezer. This may cause ice burns.

Elvita CKFI4177 - WARNING! - 1

CAUTION!

• Always follow food storage times and use by dates suggested by manufacturers. - Opening the door for long periods can cause a significant increase of the temperature in the compartments. - Store raw meat and fish in suitable containers in the freezer, so that it is not in contact with or drip onto other food. - Do not place carbonated or fizzy drinks in the freezer compartment as it creates pressure in the container, which may cause it to explode and damage the product. - Make sure that bottles are not left in the freezer for longer than needed. Freezing may cause the bottles to break.

Elvita CKFI4177 - CAUTION! - 1

CAUTION!

Do not close the door while any drawers are open. It may damage the drawers and the door.

Use the following tips and recommendations when storing food in the freezer.

  • Prepare food in small portions to enable it to be rapidly and completely frozen and in turn make it possible to thaw only the quantity required. Once defrosted, food will deteriorate rapidly and should not be frozen again.
  • When food freezes too slowly, it can lose quality or go bad.
  • Wrap up the food in aluminum foil or polyethylene food wraps which are airtight. Wipe containers dry before placing them in the freezer.
  • Label and date each frozen package in order to keep track of the storage time. Remove as many items as needed at one time.
  • Do not allow fresh unfrozen food to touch the food which is already frozen to avoid temperature rise of the latter.
  • Ensure that frozen food has been stored correctly by the food retailer.
  • During power outage, foods in the freezer can be kept for several hours. Do not open the door during power outage, and do not put any more fresh food into the freezer.
  • Do not line the inside of the drawer or shelves with aluminum foil, wax paper, or paper towels. This could interfere with air circulation and make the freezer less efficient.
