Frequently Asked Questions - Kingdomino Blue Orange
How to start a game of Kingdomino?
Give each player a starting domino. Shuffle the tiles and place them face down. The youngest player starts and flips a tile. Then, each player chooses a tile in turn order and places it in their kingdom following the placement rules.
How do you score points?
Points are calculated at the end of the game. Each domain (contiguous area of the same terrain type) is multiplied by the number of crowns in that domain. Add up the points from all your domains to get your total score.
What are the tile placement rules?
Each tile must be placed in your kingdom (5x5) so that at least one side touches an already placed tile. Adjacent terrains must match (same type) or be on the same side of the tile (e.g., forest next to forest). You can also place tiles orthogonally but not diagonally.
What to do if I cannot place a tile?
If none of the available tiles can be placed in your kingdom (or if the tile exceeds the 5x5 grid), you must discard the tile and your kingdom remains as is. You continue playing normally until the end of the game.
How many tiles are in the game?
The base game contains 48 double-sided domino tiles (each tile has two terrains) and 4 starting dominoes. The terrains are: forest, grassland, swamp, mine, field, and desert.
Is the game compatible with expansions?
Yes, expansions like Kingdomino: Age of the Dragon or Queendomino are compatible and add new tiles and mechanics. Make sure you have the corresponding rules.
How to clean the tiles?
Use a slightly damp soft cloth to clean the tiles. Do not immerse them in water and avoid chemicals. Let them dry flat before storing.
Can I play Kingdomino with two players?
Yes, the game is designed for 2 to 4 players. With two players, the same number of tiles is used, but the selection rules are adjusted: some tiles are removed (see the rules) to balance the game.
What to do if I lose a tile?
Contact Blue Orange customer service to order replacement parts. You can also play without the missing tile if it's not crucial, but it's better to replace it for a complete experience.
Are there official rule variants?
Yes, the instructions include variants like team play or advanced rules with alternative victory conditions. See the 'Variants' section in the instructions for details.
