Frequently Asked Questions - SCOOBA IROBOT

How does the Scooba robot work?
The Scooba robot uses the AWARE™ system to clean your floors in four steps in one pass: pre-wash (picks up crumbs), wash (applies clean solution), scrub (gentle brushing), and dry (sucks up dirty water). It moves in a spiral, follows walls, and crosses the room for optimal coverage.
What is the battery life?
The battery life is approximately 45 minutes, which corresponds to a complete cleaning cycle. The battery recharges via the provided power adapter.
How to charge the battery?
To charge, plug the adapter into the robot. The first charge should last 16 hours (refresh charge). Afterwards, normal charge takes a few hours. The Power light is solid green when the battery is full.
What cleaning solution to use?
Use the Clorox Scooba solution or an equivalent product for floor washing robots. Never use water alone: this would prevent the robot from detecting the presence of water in the tank. Follow the indicated doses.
How to fill the water tank?
Open the tank, remove it from the robot. Pour the cleaning solution using the measuring cup, then fill with warm or cold water to the top. Close tightly and reinsert the tank until it clicks into place.
What does the blue Clean light mean?
A solid blue light indicates the cleaning cycle is finished. If it flashes blue/green, the cycle is almost done. If it flashes blue (internal), it is in internal drying mode.
How to empty and clean the robot after use?
After each cycle, remove the tank, empty and rinse the clean water and dirty water compartments. Clean the filter with clean water, as well as the head and cleaning brush. Replace the tank.
Can the robot clean carpets?
No, the Scooba is designed only for hard floors like tile, linoleum, or hardwood. Do not use it on carpet or thick rugs.
Why won't the robot start?
Check that the battery is charged (green Power light), that the clean water tank is properly filled and installed (click), and that the robot is on a flat surface. If the Power light is red, recharge the battery.
How to maintain the robot regularly?
After each use, empty and rinse the tanks, clean the filter and the brush. Consult the manual for periodic maintenance. Replace wear parts if necessary via the iRobot website.

USER MANUAL SCOOBA IROBOT

Before You Get Started

Understand how iRobot Scooba cleans

Scooba's Cleaning Pattern

Scooba is a robot that cleans differently than the way most people clean their floors. Scooba uses iRobot's AWARE™ Robot Intelligence System to determine the best way to pass over and clean every section of the floor.

While Scooba is cleaning, it calculates the best path to clean your floor and it determines the best times to exhibit its various cleaning behaviors:

Spiraling: Enables Scooba to efficiently clean a concentrated dirty area

Wall following: Enables Scooba to clean the room perimeter and navigate around furniture and obstacles

Room crossing: Enables Scooba to clean new areas while crisscrossing the room

IMPORTANT: Let Scooba complete an entire cleaning cycle every time you clean

Scooba's Cleaning System

Scooba performs 4 cleaning methods in one pass:

1 Prep -Picks up loose crumbs, sand, and dirt
2 Washes - Uses fresh, clean solution
3 Scrubs – Gently scrubs your floor, removing dirt, grime, and spills
4 Dries – Picks up the dirty solution, leaving the floor clean and dry*

Internal Dry Mode

At the end of the cleaning cycle, Scooba will enter a brief internal drying mode to remove any liquid remaining on its brushes and inside its cleaning mechanisms. During this time Scooba's Clean light will blink blue.

  • Floor drying time may vary.
