Frequently Asked Questions - ROOMBA 5210 IROBOT

How to start the Roomba 5210 for the first time?
Install the battery, place the charging base (Home Base) and charge the robot for 3 hours. Then press Power, then Clean to start a cycle.
What is the charging time of the Roomba 5210?
Full charging time is about 3 hours. Partial charging is possible, but for maximum runtime, let it charge completely.
What cleaning modes are available?
Modes are: Clean (automatic cleaning up to 60 min), Spot (concentrated spiral cleaning), Max (cleaning until battery discharge) and Dirt Detect (dirt detection for intensive cleaning).
How to maintain the Roomba brushes?
After every 3 uses, remove the brushes, cut tangled hair with scissors and clean them with the provided tool. Also inspect the brush supports.
How often should the filter be replaced?
It is recommended to clean the filter every 3 uses and replace it every 2 months to maintain suction performance.
How does the virtual wall (Virtual Wall) work?
Place the virtual wall in a doorway or passage. It emits an infrared beam that Roomba will not cross. You can adjust the range from 1 to 3 meters.
What to do if Roomba does not move or stops during cleaning?
Check that the battery is charged, that wheels and brushes are not blocked by debris, and that sensors (especially cliff sensors) are clean.
Can Roomba vacuum long-pile carpets?
Yes, but it is recommended to lift carpet fringes to prevent Roomba from tangling. The robot adjusts its power on carpets.
How to know if the battery is fully charged?
The battery indicator on the robot turns solid green when fully charged. Flashing yellow indicates charging in progress.
Can I use Roomba without the charging base?
Yes, you can plug the robot directly into the charger via the charging port. However, the base allows automatic recharging at the end of a cycle.

How It Works

Roomba's Cleaning Pattern

Roomba is a robot that cleans differently than the way most people clean their floors. Roomba uses iRobot's AWARE™ Robot Intelligence System to determine the best way to pass over and clean every section of the floor.

Roomba calculates the optimal cleaning path as it cleans and determines when to use its various cleaning behaviors:

IROBOT ROOMBA 5210 - Roomba calculates the optimal cleaning path as it cleans and determines when to use its various cleaning behaviors: - 1

Wall Following: Cleans the perimeter of the room and navigates around furniture and obstacles.

Spiraling: Cleans a concentrated area.

Room Crossing: Ensures full coverage of an area.

Dirt Detect™: Senses dirt and cleans more intensely in that area.

TIP: Roomba takes approximately 45 minutes to clean an average room and will pass over the same area of the floor multiple times to ensure total floor coverage.

TIP: For faster cleaning, clear your floor of clutter and use a Virtual Wall to confine Roomba to one room.

TIP: Wires should be elevated off of the floor and rug tassels should be tucked under the rug to prevent Roomba from getting stuck.

Cleaning Modes

Roomba will clean based on the cleaning mode you select. Roomba has up to four cleaning modes, depending on your model:

Clean Mode

Roomba automatically calculates the room size and adjusts its cleaning time appropriately. Roomba may clean for up to 60 minutes.

Spot Mode

Roomba will spiral approximately 1 meter in diameter and then spiral back to where it started, intensely cleaning a localized area.

Max Mode

Roomba runs until its battery is nearly depleted.

Dirt Detect™

The blue Dirt Detect light will illuminate when Roomba has detected dirt and it will clean more intensely in that area.

Tips For Best Performance
