INSTRUCTIONS VOLTS When using an electrical power tool, basic precautions should always be followed to assure maximum safety and optimum performance. Read this manual before assembling and operating this power tool. Failure to comply with instructions may result in electrical shock, burns, fire, or personal injury.

8. Avoid dangerous environment. Do not use power
tool in damp or wet locations.
9. Don’t use in rain. Water entering a power tool will
increase the risk of electric shock.
10. Do not abuse cord. Never yank it to disconnect from

2 - SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS listed in this manual before/during operation of this trimmer. TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK this power tool has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way. INSPECT UNIT FOR DAMAGE to the housing, cord or plug. Keep all fasteners tight. Do not use if the switch does not turn the unit off properly. Never use unit if cord or plug has been damaged, the motor or unit itself is not working as it should or has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors or dropped in water. Never operate with any air opening blocked. Keep air openings free of debris that may reduce air flow. Replace damaged parts that are chipped, cracked or damaged in any way. DOUBLE INSULATED to help protect against electric shock. Double insulation construction consists of 2 separate “layers” of electric insulation. power tool built with this insulation system are not intended to be grounded. As a result, the extension cord used with your unit can be plugged into any conventional 120 volt electrical outlet. Normal safety precautions must be observed when operating an electrical power tool. The double insulation system is only for added protection against injury resulting from a possible internal electrical insulation failure. GROUND FAULT CIRCUIT INTERRUPTER (GFCI) receptacle may be used on an outlet or circuit for an added measure of safety. EXTENSION CORD - Use only with an extension cord intended for outdoor use. Match wire gauge to the cord length. See table below. A 2-wire cord without a ground connection may be used since this power tool is double insulated. If in doubt of proper wire size, use the next heavier gauge. Please note that the smaller the gauge number, the heavier the cord. PERSONAL SAFETY

distance from work area.
12. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. They can be caught in moving parts. Use of rubber
gloves and substantial footwear is recommended when working outdoors. Wear protective hair covering to contain long hair.

17. No accessories or attachments are necessary for
the operation of this gardening tool. The use of any accessories or attachments for this gardening tool is not recommended. Such use of any attachment or accessory may increase the risk of injury to the user.
18. Do not use force. The correct tools will do the job
better and safer at the rate for which it is designed.
19. Disconnect the plug from the power source before
making any adjustment, changing accessories, or storing the tool. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally.
20. Store tool inside when not in use. Tools should be
stored indoors in dry, and high or locked-up place, out of reach of children.
21. Maintain tools. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean for
best performance and to reduce the risk of injury. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories. Inspect tool cord periodically, and if damaged, have it repaired by an authorized service facility. Keep handling surface dry, clean, and free from oil and grease.
22. Check damaged parts. Before further use of the tool,
a guard or other part that is damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. check for alignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting, and any other condition that may affect its operation. A guard or other part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by an authorized service center unless indicated elsewhere in this manual.
The Hedge Trimmer must not be used by anyone under the age of 16. Keep children, other people and pets away from the trimmer. Always dress properly. Use face or dust mask when used in dusty conditions. Do not use the trimmer if the cutting blade is not secured properly or is damaged. Before starting the trimmer, make sure that the cutting blade is not touching stones or debris. When the trimmer is in operation, keep the cutting blade away from all parts of the body. Do not cut hard objects. This could cause injury or damage the trimmer. Only cut during broad daylight or with corresponding artificial light. Don’t abuse cord, never carry hedge trimmer by cord or pull with force to disconnect from receptacle. Keep cord from heat, oil, and sharp edges. When the trimmer is not in use, store it in a dry place and out of the reach of children. The outlet voltage must correspond to the one marked on the technical data plate. Do not use other sources of power. Never use the trimmer when it is raining. Try to prevent it from getting wet or being exposed to humidity. Do not leave it outside overnight. Do not cut damp or wet bushes. The power supply cord should be checked regularly. Before each use, make sure cord is not damaged or worn. If the cord is not in good condition, do not use the trimmer. Take it to an authorized service center for proper repair. Only use an extension cord which is suitable for outdoor work. Keep it away from the cutting area, damp, wet or oily surfaces, or sharp edges. Keep away from heat and fuels. Avoid unintentional starting. When transporting the hedge trimmer with the power supply connected between tasks either turn switch to “OFF” or avoid touching both switches at the same time. Do not attempt to remove cut material or hold material to be cut when blades are moving. Make sure trimmer switch is off when clearing jammed material from blades. Do not grasp the exposed cutting blades or cutting edges when picking up or holding the hedge trimmer. Don’t force hedge trimmer, it will do the job better and with less likelihood of risk of injury at the rate for which it was designed. Stay alert, watch what you are doing. Use common sense. Do not operate hedge trimmer when you are tired. Maintain hedge trimmer, keep cutting blades sharp and clean for best performance and to reduce the risk of injury. Inspect extension cord periodically and replace if damaged. Keep handles dry, clean and free from oil and grease.

WARNING Read the User Manual (Figure 2-1). Use of these personal safety items is highly recommended to reduce the risk of accidental injury (Figure 2-2). SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS Do not use without guard in place.
1. Your Hedge Trimmer comes fully assembled except
for the safety guard.
2. To assemble safety guard, align holes in safety guard
(A) to holes in hedge trimmer and fix with screws (B) provided.
CAUTION Use of these personal safety items is highly recommended to reduce the risk of accidental injury.
To prevent the power cord from disconnecting from the hedge trimmer, loop the cord around the recessed hook (C) and pull gently to tighten. (See Fig. 4-2) Always ensure all handles and guards are securely attached when using the tool. 4-1. SWITCH For your safety, this hedge trimmer is designed with a two hand safety switch (A ). If you only squeeze one trigger (B), the trimmer will not be actuated. To turn the trimmer ON, squeeze both triggers at the same time. To turn the trimmer OFF, simply release either trigger. (See Fig. 4-1)
6-1. BLADE LUBRICATION
EXTENSION CORD. Always keep extension cord away from blades. Never drape it over a hedge being trimmed. If you cut or damage the cord, unplug it at the electrical outlet immediately, before inspecting or repairing cord. WORKING POSITION. Maintain proper footing and balance and do not overreach. Wear safety goggles, non-skid footwear and rubber gloves when trimming. Hold the tool firmly in both hands and turn the tool ON. Always hold the trimmer, as shown in the illustrations, with one hand on the rear handle and one hand on the front handle. Never hold the tool by the blade guard. TRIMMING NEW GROWTH. A wide, sweeping motion, feeding the blade teeth through the twigs is most effective. A slight downward tilt of the blade, in the direction of motion gives the best cutting. (Fig. 51A) WARNING To assure product SAFETY and RELIABILITY, repairs, maintenance and adjustments should be performed by an professional service center using identical replacement parts. Before lubricating, be sure your hedge trimmer is disconnected from the power supply. Failure to do so can result in accidental starting, causing serious personal injury. For easier operation and longer blade life, lubricate the garden trimmer blade before and after each use. Apply light machine oil along the edge of the top strap. (Fig. 6-1) 5-1A CAUTION Do not use the trimmer for cutting stems greater than 1/2”. Use the trimmer only for cutting normal shrubbery found around houses and buildings.
4. LEVEL HEDGES. To obtain exceptionally level
hedges, a piece of string can be stretched along the length of the hedge as a guide.
5. SIDE-TRIMMING HEDGES. Hold the trimmer as
shown and begin at the bottom and sweep up. (Fig. 51B) 6-1 5-1B
Your trimmer should be stopped, disconnected and oiled occasionally during use.
1. The cutting blades are made from high quality, hardened steel and with normal usage, they will not
require resharpening. However, if you accidentally hit a wire fence, stones, glass or other hard objects, you may put a nick in the blade. There is no need to remove this nick as long as it does not interfere with the movement of the blade. If it does interfere, unplug unit and use a fine toothed file or sharpening stone to remove the nick.
2. If you drop the trimmer, carefully inspect it for damage.
If the blade is bent, housing cracked, or handles broken or if you see any other condition that may affect the trimmer’s operation contact a professional service center for repairs before putting it back into use.
3. Fertilizers and other garden chemicals contain agents
which greatly accelerate the corrosion of metals. Do not store the tool on or adjacent to fertilizers or chemicals.
4. With the unit unplugged, use only mild soap and a
damp cloth to clean the tool. Never let any liquid get inside the tool; never immerse any part of the tool into a liquid.
The duration of the warranty for this McCulloch product is as follows: ONE (1) YEAR from date of original purchase only when used for personal, family, household, farm or ranch, purposes, provided the unit is not used for rental purposes; NINETY (90) DAYS from date of original purchase when used for commercial, professional, institutional or rental purposes. This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may also have other rights which vary from state to state. MCCULLOCH CORPORATION HEREBY DISCLAIMS ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES AFTER THE APPLICABLE EXPIRATION DATES OF THIS EXPRESS LIMITED WARRANTY. (Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitations may not apply to you.)

3. WHO RECEIVES THIS WARRANTY
A. The buyer (other than for purposes of resale) of the McCulloch Product. B. Any person to whom such product is lawfully transferred within the duration of the implied or written warranty applicable to the product. C. Any other person who is entitled by the terms of the warranty or under applicable state law to enforce against the Warrantor the obligation of the warranty. (The above mentioned parties are hereinafter referred to as “User.”)
4. WHAT IS COVERED UNDER THIS WARRANTY
Any failure that occurs within the applicable duration of the warranty period that is the result of defects in materials or workmanship.
5. WHAT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS WARRANTY
A. Any incidental or consequential damages that may result from the failure or malfunction of the McCulloch product. (Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so these limitations may not apply to you.) B. Any failure that results from an accident, User abuse, neglect or failure to operate the product in accordance with the instructions provided in the User Manual(s) supplied with the product, or that results from improper servicing by an unauthorized repair facility. C. Normal adjustments which are explained in the User Manual(s) provided with the product. D. Any component(s) or accessories not sold or manufactured by the Warrantor. E. Predelivery setup or assembly of units. F. This warranty does not apply to accessories, normal maintenance or adjustment(s) of the product set forth in the User Manual(s).
A. Repair or replace components which have failed within the duration of the applicable warranty period at no cost to the User. B. Ensure that the authorized repair station is reimbursed for parts and labor costs incurred due to performance of a warranty repair in accordance with established warranty policies and procedures.
7. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE USER UNDER THIS WARRANTY
A. The User must deliver or ship the McCulloch product covered under this warranty to the dealer from whom it was originally purchased or to the nearest Authorized Service Center. Proof of purchase is required. B. Freight costs, if any, will be borne by the user. C. Use reasonable care in maintenance, operations and storage of the product as explained in the User Manual(s).
8. WHEN WARRANTOR WILL PERFORM OBLIGATION UNDER THIS WARRANTY
A. Repair of warrantable products will be scheduled according to the normal work flow at the servicing location, depending on the availability of replacement parts. B. Repair time which exceeds ten (10) days from the time the product was delivered to the servicing agent will extend the warranty coverage by the number of days the product remains inoperable. C. If User does not receive satisfactory results from local servicing outlet, User must contact McCulloch Corporation, by calling our toll-free telephone number.
