Frequently Asked Questions - DOCK-U3-III LC-Power

How do I connect the DOCK-U3-III to my computer?
Connect the included USB cable from the docking station's upstream port to a USB 3.0 port on your computer. The device is plug-and-play, no driver installation required for most operating systems.
Can I charge my devices through the docking station?
The DOCK-U3-III is primarily for data transfer. It provides standard USB power (5V, up to 900mA per port) suitable for charging small devices like phones, but not for high-power devices like tablets.
Why are my USB devices not recognized?
Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the docking station and your computer. Try a different USB port on your computer. If the issue persists, update your USB drivers or restart your computer.
Does this docking station support USB 2.0 devices?
Yes, the DOCK-U3-III is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 devices, though data transfer speeds will be limited to the slower standard.
How do I use the SD card reader?
Insert an SD card into the slot with the metal contacts facing down. The card will appear as a removable drive on your computer. To safely remove, eject the drive before unplugging the card.
Can I use the docking station with a USB-C to USB-A adapter?
Yes, if your computer only has USB-C ports, you can use a passive USB-C to USB-A adapter or cable. However, data transfer speeds may be limited if the adapter does not support USB 3.0.
Is the DOCK-U3-III compatible with Linux?
Yes, Linux distributions with kernel support for USB 3.0 hubs should work without additional drivers. Most modern Linux distros support it natively.
Why is my USB 3.0 device running at USB 2.0 speeds?
Check that the device and cable are both USB 3.0 rated. Ensure the docking station is connected to a USB 3.0 port on your computer. Interference or long cable extensions can also degrade performance.
Can I daisy-chain multiple docking stations?
It is not recommended as USB hubs are not designed for daisy-chaining. Connecting multiple hubs may cause power and bandwidth issues. Use a single hub per USB port.
How do I clean the docking station?
Disconnect the docking station from your computer. Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use any liquids, solvents, or abrasive cleaners.
