Frequently Asked Questions - GB1003 VOX

How do I install the VOX GB1003 hob?
Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician. Ensure the cutout is the correct size (560 x 490 mm) and that there is adequate ventilation. The hob should be connected to a 230 V ~ 50 Hz power supply with a 32 A circuit breaker. Refer to the installation manual for detailed steps.
What type of cookware should I use on the ceramic glass hob?
Use flat-bottomed cookware that matches the zone size. Avoid pans with rough bases or those made of copper or aluminum as they may leave marks. Stainless steel, cast iron, and enameled pots are recommended.
How do I clean the glass ceramic surface?
Clean after each use once the hob has cooled. Use a damp cloth with mild detergent or a dedicated ceramic hob cleaner. Avoid abrasive sponges or harsh chemicals. For burnt-on residues, use a scraper gently.
Why does my hob turn off automatically?
The hob has an automatic shut-off function for safety. It activates if a zone is left on for too long without adjustment or if the hob overheats. Check the user manual for specific timing settings.
How do I activate the child lock?
To activate the child lock, press and hold the lock button (usually a key symbol) for 3 seconds until an indicator lights up. To deactivate, repeat the process. This prevents accidental operation.
Can I use the VOX GB1003 with a gas connection?
No, the GB1003 is an electric ceramic hob and is not compatible with gas. It requires a 230 V electrical connection.
What do the error codes on the display mean?
Error codes indicate specific faults. For example, E1 may indicate a sensor failure, E2 overheating. Consult the troubleshooting section of the manual for a full list. If errors persist, contact customer service.
How do I adjust the power level of a cooking zone?
Touch the zone selector to choose a zone, then use the slider or + and - buttons to adjust the power level from 1 to 9. Some models have a boost function for rapid heating.
Is the hob suitable for all types of kitchen countertops?
The hob can be installed in heat-resistant countertops such as granite, marble, or solid wood with proper insulation. Avoid installing near flammable materials. Ensure cutout dimensions are accurate.
How do I contact VOX customer support for my GB1003 hob?

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Please read and follow the following safety precautions to prevent fire, electric shock and other injuries:

  1. Before use, check if the voltage of your wall outlet corresponds to the rating plate on the bottom of the appliance.
  2. Children or the disabled should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  3. Do not immerse the appliance, cord, or plug in water or other liquids, and do not use it in wet areas.
  4. Do not touch the cooking plates with bare hands; always use gloves or a cloth, as the temperature of the cooking plates rises during operation.
  5. During use, the appliance should be placed stably on a heat-resistant surface near the power socket.
  6. The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or a separate remote-control system.
  7. Store the power cable properly to avoid it hanging or causing someone to trip over it.
  8. Burning food can cause fire. Keep the appliance away from curtains, flammable materials, stoves, ovens, or other high-temperature surfaces.
  9. To avoid damage to the appliance or the risk of fire, do not use plastic film, plastic bags, or metal foil to remove food from the cooking plate after operation. Do not let food cool on the cooking plate; remove prepared food as soon as possible.
  10. Unplug the appliance from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning.
  11. Do not use the appliance for purposes other than its intended use.
  12. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or a similarly qualified person to avoid a hazard.
  13. Never use sharp utensils to remove food from the cooking plate, as they can damage the non-stick coating of the cooking surface. Use only heat-resistant wooden or plastic utensils.
  14. Pay special attention when near the appliance or when moving it during heating of food, water, or any other liquid.
  15. Children must not play with the appliance.
  16. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or touch hot surfaces.
  17. Do not place the appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  18. Special attention must be paid when moving the appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
  19. Be careful and use oven mitts and pot holders while operating the appliance, as hot oil can splash during cooking.
  20. Do not use the appliance outdoors.
  21. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  22. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
  23. For a part of class III construction supplied from a detachable power supply unit, the instructions state that the appliance is only to be used with the unit provided.
  24. The instructions for Class III appliances shall state that it must only be supplied at safety extra low voltage corresponding to the label mark on the appliance.

It is not necessary for battery-operated appliances if the battery is a primary battery or secondary battery charged outside of the appliance.

  1. Save these instructions for future use.

PLASTICIZER WARNING

The surface of the appliance may become very hot during operation, which is likely to cause blemishes, discoloration, or stains on the tabletop. It is recommended to place non-plastic pads between the appliance and tabletop.

For household use only.

HOW TO USE GRILLING MAKER

Unpack the unit and place it on a flat horizontal countertop. Wipe the outer surface and non-stick plate with a wet soft cloth. Then connect the appliance to the rated supply and preheat. It is recommended to coat a layer of vegetable oil when preheating. This helps to protect the non-stick surface. Some odor may be smelled during initial preheating; this is normal and will disappear after one or two uses.

  1. Before use, check that the cooking plate is clean and free from dust and food particles. Wipe with a damp cloth if necessary.
  2. Connect the appliance to the rated supply and adjust the temperature. The red lamp is the power-on indicator and will turn off when the appliance is connected to the power supply.
  3. It usually takes approximately 10 minutes for the cooking temperature to reach the preset temperature. Now you can place the grilling food and fillings onto the cooking plate.
  4. Make sure the drip tray is in position and place the prepared food on the bottom cooking plate. It is recommended to use oven mitts and pot holders to reduce the risk of injury from touching hot surfaces.
  5. The grilling time should be approximately 20 minutes. Exact grill time may vary according to your personal taste and the fillings.
  6. Once the cooking process has finished, remove the grilled food with a plastic or wooden spatula. Never use metal utensils as this could damage the non-stick coating.
  7. Unplug the power cable after the food is cooked (note: if the socket is switch type, turn it off). Note: As the appliance will be at high temperature, it should be allowed to cool down for a while.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  1. Unplug the appliance from the power supply and wait until it is completely cool before cleaning or storage.
  2. Clean the pot and drip tray. The pot can be placed in the dishwasher, but the removable drip tray is not recommended for dishwasher cleaning as the plastic material is likely to deform and deteriorate with prolonged dishwasher use. Immerse the drip tray in warm soapy water to clean, then rinse and dry.
  3. Wipe the lid, cooking plate, and cover with absorbent paper, toweling, or a soft cloth. Never use abrasive cleaners to wipe the non-stick cooking plate. WARNING: Never immerse the appliance in water for cleaning as electric shock may occur.
  4. Store the appliance in a safe, clean place.
