Frequently Asked Questions - Pico RND Erica Synths
What is the Pico RND module used for?
The Pico RND is a random voltage generator module for Eurorack synthesizers. It produces random control voltages, sample & hold functions, and noise, ideal for adding unpredictability to patches.
How do I power the Pico RND?
Connect the 10-pin ribbon cable to your Eurorack bus board. Ensure correct polarity: red stripe aligns with -12V. The module draws 20 mA on +12V and 10 mA on -12V.
What are the output voltages?
The Random Out produces 0V to +10V. The Noise Out produces -5V to +5V. Voltages are updated on each clock pulse or at the internal rate.
Can I use an external clock?
Yes, patch a gate or trigger signal into the Clock In jack (5V threshold). The internal rate is ignored when an external clock is patched.
What is the Range switch for?
The three-position Range switch scales the random output: Low (0-2V), Mid (0-5V), High (0-10V). This allows fine-tuning of randomization intensity.
How do I clean the module?
Disconnect power and wipe the front panel with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use alcohol or abrasive cleaners as they may damage the finish.
What is the size of the Pico RND?
It occupies 4HP (20mm) of rack space with a depth of 35mm behind the panel. It is a standard 3U module.
Can I replace the ICs myself?
No, the module has no user-serviceable parts. Opening the module voids warranty. Contact Erica Synths support for any repairs.
Does the Pico RND output a clock signal?
No, it only accepts a clock input. The internal clock is not available as an output. Use a dedicated clock module for sync signals.
Is the Pico RND compatible with other brands?
Yes, it follows the Eurorack standard (3U, +12V/-12V, 3.5mm jacks). It works with any Eurorack case and power supply.
