Safety information

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
- Arrange for defective power plugs and/or cables to be replaced as soon as possible by a qualified technician or by our Customer Service Department to avoid the risk of injury. ▶ Use the appliance only in dry indoor areas: do not use it outdoors.

Never immerse the appliance, the mains cable or the plug in water or any other liquid! Otherwise, there is a risk of an electric shock.
▶ Ensure that the appliance can never come into contact with water. Never use the appliance adjacent to water or close to vessels containing liquids. ▶ Ensure that the power cable never gets wet or damp when the appliance is in use. Route the cable so that it cannot be trapped or damaged in any way.

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
▶ Never insert cutlery or other metallic objects into the toaster slots. ▶ Always disconnect the plug from the mains power socket after use, before cleaning or before moving the appliance. ▶ Never pull on the power cord; always pull directly on the plug itself. Never touch the appliance plug with wet or moist hands.

WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
This appliance may be used by children over the age of 8 and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or by those without experience and/or knowledge, if they are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the appliance and have understood the potential risks. - Cleaning and user maintenance may not be performed by children unless they are older than eight years of age and are supervised. - Keep children younger than 8 years of age away from the appliance and the power cable. ▶ Do not allow children to use the appliance as a toy. ▶ Bakery products can burn! Never place the appliance near or under flammable objects, especially under curtains or hanging cabinets. ▶ Never cover the appliance while it is in operation. Risk of fire! The appliance can become hot when it is in use. Therefore, only touch the controls. - Allow the appliance to cool down completely before cleaning it.
⚠ WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
Risk of burning if you do not use standard toast bread! Because of the smaller size or shape, there is a risk of touching hot parts when removing the toasted bread. Use the appliance only on a stable, non-slippery and level surface. Use the appliance only for its intended purpose. Risk of injury if appliance is misused!
CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!
- Do not use an external timer switch or a separate remote control system to operate the appliance. Never leave the appliance unattended during operation. Do not use abrasive or caustic cleaning agents. These could damage the outer surfaces of the appliance.
Tips for use
Avoid using slices which are too big or too thick as these can easily become jammed in the appliance. If slices of bread become jammed, first disconnect the plug from the mains power socket. Free jammed slices of bread with a blunt wooden object (e.g. a wooden spatula or spoon). Do not touch the heater elements.
Differences in bread sorts, moisture content and the thickness of individual slices have an effect on toast browning. The bread should be stored in sealed packaging if possible.
Always start by trying out a lower browning level.
Use a lower browning level if you are toasting dry bread since dry bread browns faster than fresh bread.
Select a higher level of browning for dark bread than for light bread, for example wheat bread.
The numbers on the browning control ⑥ are not time indications. They serve only as a guide for browning.
Wait for about 15 seconds between two toasting processes to prevent the appliance from overheating and to obtain an even browning of bread.
You should only use the highest level on the browning control ⑥ for large slices of dark bread. At this browning level, light bread will scorch and become inedible. In addition, it may cause the generation of smoke. If this occurs, press the "Stop" button ↗ ⑤ immediately and disconnect the power cable from the mains power socket.
Setting up

WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
Never set up the appliance close to or underneath flammable objects/materials, especially not under curtains or suspended cupboards. Risk of fire!
NOTE
▶ During the first use, production residue can produce small amounts of smoke and a slight odour. This is completely normal and harmless. Ensure sufficient ventilation; for example, by opening a window.
◆ Unwind the power cable completely from the cable retainer ⑧ and feed it through the cable clamp ⑨. Place the appliance on a level and heat-resistant surface. ◆ Operate the appliance three times without bread at the maximum browning level setting (6) before first use (see section "Toasting"). - Clean the appliance as described in the section "Cleaning". ◆ Insert the plug into a mains power socket.
The appliance is now ready for use.

WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
▶ Never cover the appliance while it is in operation. Risk of fire! The appliance parts can become hot during operation. Therefore, only touch the controls. Risk of burns!
◆ Insert the bread into the toaster slots ①. Select the desired browning level. The desired browning level can be adjusted infinitely from "light" (1) to "dark" (6) using the browning control ⑥.
NOTE
▶ If you only want to put one piece of toast into the toaster, turn the browning control ⑥ down by approx. 1/2 - 1 level to achieve the same level of browning as with 2 pieces of toast.
Press down the lever for lowering the bread slices ② until it engages. The automatic bread-centring function centres the bread in the toasting slots ①, and the toasting process begins. During the toasting process, the control lamp integrated in the "Stop" button lights up.
NOTE
The lever for lowering the bread slices ② only engages when the appliance is plugged in.
When the desired level of browning has been reached, the appliance automatically switches itself off and the slices are ejected upwards. The integrated control lamp goes out.
Stopping the toasting process
If you wish to stop toasting, press the "Stop" button. The toaster switches itself off and the bread slices are ejected upwards. The integrated control lamp goes out.
Reheat function

Insert the bread and press down the lever to lower the bread slices ②. The integrated control lamp in the "Stop" button ⏻ lights up. - Press the "Reheat" button 4. The integrated control lamp lights up. When the reheat process is complete, the appliance switches itself off automatically and the slices are ejected upwards. The control lamps go out.
NOTE
▶ Press the "Reheat" button ④ again to switch off the reheat function during operation. The integrated control lamp goes out and the warming process switches to a normal toasting process.
Defrost function
Activate the defrost function to defrost and toast frozen toast bread. The same browning level is achieved as when you toast fresh bread.
- Set the desired browning level and insert the bread into the toaster slots ①.
Press down the lever for lowering the bread slices ② until it engages. The integrated control lamp in the "Stop" button ⬇ lights up.
Press the "Defrost" button ③. The integrated control lamp lights up.
When the thawing and toasting processes are complete, the appliance switches itself off automatically and the slices are ejected upwards. The control lamps go out.
NOTE
▶ Press the "Defrost" button ③ again to switch off the defrost function during the process. The integrated control lamp goes out and the defrost process switches to a normal toasting process.
Heating up rolls
You can warm up rolls until they are crispy with the help of the bread roll rack ⑦.
NOTE
- Never place bread rolls directly on the appliance, always use the bread roll rack ⑦. - Make sure that the rolls do not fall through the bread roll rack ⑦.
Press down the lever for the bread roll rack ⑪ until the bread roll rack ⑦ is fully extended.
Place the bread rolls onto the bread roll rack ⑦ and start the toasting procedure. Turn the browning control ⑥ up to a maximum of level 2. The browning can, however, vary, depending on the composition and type of bread roll.
As soon as the appliance switches itself off, turn the rolls over to toast the other side and then switch the appliance back on.
If you no longer need the bread roll rack ⑦, bring it into its starting position by pushing the lever for the bread roll rack ⑪ upwards again.
Crumb tray
Crumbs which fall from the bread during toasting are collected in the crumb tray ⑩. This should be emptied regularly.
To remove the crumbs, pull out the crumb tray 10.
Tip out the crumbs.
♦ Push the crumb tray 10 back into the appliance so that it clicks into place.
