1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
- Read all instructions and keep these safety instructions. Misuse of the appliance may result in a potential hazard.
- Connect the appliance to a mains power socket with proper connection only. Mains voltage must be the same as that indicated on the rating plate. The use of incorrect connection will void the guarantee and may be hazardous.
- This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications, such as:
- staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
- farm houses;
- by clients in hotels, motels and other residential environments; — bed and breakfast type environments;
- Your appliance is intended for domestic use inside an altitude below 3400 m.
- In case of any inappropriate use or failure to comply with instructions, the manufacturer accepts no responsibility and the guarantee may not apply.
- We recommend using the NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto capsules designed and tested for the Dolce Gusto machine. They were designed to interact together - the interaction price quality that NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto is known for. Each capsule is designed to prepare a perfect cup, and
- Do not remove hot capsules by hand. Always use a handle to dispose of used capsules.
- Always use the appliance on a flat, stable surface, away from sources of heat or water splashes. This appliance is not to be placed in a cabinet when in use.
- To protect against fire, electric shock and injury, do not immerse the power cord, plugs or the appliance in liquid. Avoid spillage on the plug. Never touch the plug with wet hands. Do not overfill the water tank.
- In case of an emergency, remove the plug from the socket immediately.
- Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used near children. Keep the appliance, power cord, and capsules out of reach of children. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance. Never leave the appliance unattended while making a beverage.
- This appliance is not intended for use by children or persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Persons who have a limited understanding of the operation and use of this appliance should
read and fully understand the contents of the user manual.

The water tank should be cleaned using a clean food-safe brush. 19. Never turn the machine upside down. 20. If away for prolonged periods, on holiday, etc., ensure the product is emptied, cleaned, and unplugged. Rinse by operating the rinse cycle before re-using your appliance. 21. Do not turn off the appliance during the descaling cycle. Empty the water tank and clean the appliance to remove residual descaling agent. 22. Any operation, cleaning, and care other than normal should be undertaken by after-sales service centres designated by the NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto® hotline. Do not dismantle the appliance and do not put anything into openings. 23. In case of intensive use without allowing sufficient water, the appliance will stop functioning temporarily, with the power cord and red indicator light blinking. This is to protect you from overheating. Switch the appliance off for 20 minutes and allow it to cool down. 24. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. Do not operate any appliance that malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Return the damaged appliance to the nearest authorised service facility designated by the NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto® hotline. 25. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons. 26. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter.
Touch hot surfaces or sharp edges. Do not allow the cord to touch hot surfaces. EUROPEAN MARKETS ONLY:
(risk of tripping up). Never touch the cord with wet hands. Protect the environment!
- Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated
oven.
- To disconnect, turn the machine off, then remove the plug from the mains power socket. Do not unplug by pulling the cord. The appliance contains valuable materials that can be recovered or recycled.
- Always insert the capsule holder in the machine to prepare the beverage. Do not pull out the capsule holder before the indicator stops blinking. The appliance will not work if the capsule holder is not inserted. At the end of its life, take the appliance to a local civic waste collection point. European Directive 2012/19/EU on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) requires that used household appliances be collected separately.
- Machines equipped with a locking handle: Scalding may occur if the locking handle is opened during the brewing cycles. Do not open the locking handle before the lights on the machine stop blinking. Used household appliances must not be disposed of in normal unsorted municipal waste; they must be collected separately.
- Do not put fingers under the outlet during beverage preparation. For proper sorting and recycling of parts, follow local regulations.
- Do not touch the injector of the machine head. This may impact human health and the environment.
- Never carry the appliance by the machine head.
- The capsule holder is equipped with a permanent magnet. Avoid placing the capsule holder near appliances and objects that can be damaged by magnetism, e.g., credit cards, USB drives and other data devices, video tapes, television and computer monitors with picture tubes, mechanical clocks, hearing aids, and loudspeakers.
- Patients with pacemakers or defibrillators: Do not hold the capsule holder directly over the pacemaker or defibrillator.
- If the mains power socket does not match the plug on the appliance, have the plug replaced with a suitable type by aftersales service centres designated by the NESCAFÉ® Gusto® hotline.
- Packaging is made of recyclable materials. Contact your local council / authority for further information on recycling programs. Your appliance contains valuable materials which can be recovered or recycled.

- Please be aware that the appliance is still using electricity whilst in eco-mode (0.4 W/hour).
- Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children aged less than 8 years. Children shall not play with the appliance.
- This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved.
- Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised by an adult.

4. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SAFE USE



Never add hot water to the water

5. FIRST USE

Rinse the water tank manually with fresh drinking water. Fill the water tank with fresh drinking water. Insert the water tank into the machine.

Open the locking handle. Make sure that the rinsing tool is in the capsule holder and the capsule holder is in the machine. Close the locking handle. Place an empty large container underneath the coffee outlet.

Switch on the machine. The power button starts blinking red while the machine is heating up for approximately 40 seconds. Afterwards, the power button lights steady green. The machine is ready to use.

Make sure that the selection lever is in the "STOP" position. Ensure to use the correct mains voltage as given in section 2. "MACHINE OVERVIEW" on page 5. Connect the power plug to the mains power socket.

Push the selection lever to the "COLD" position. The machine starts rinsing.

After approximately 60 seconds, push the selection lever to the "STOP" position. The machine stops rinsing. The power button blinks red for about 5 seconds.

Push the selection lever to the "HOT" position. The machine starts rinsing.

After approximately 60 seconds, push the selection lever to the "STOP" position. Open the locking handle. Pull out the capsule holder. Remove the rinsing tool. Reinsert the capsule holder.

Empty the container. Fill the water tank with fresh drinking water. Insert the water tank into the machine. Place the drip grid on the drip tray. Then insert the drip tray at the desired position.
6. PREPARING A BEVERAGE

6.1 ONE CAPSULE (E.G. LUNGO)



Check if the water tank contains enough fresh water. Adjust the tray position. Place the cup with the correct opening lock size handle. Pull out the capsule holder. Make sure the opening lock tool is not inside. Insert the capsule in the capsule holder. Insert it back into the machine. Close the locking handle. Switch on the machine. The power button starts blinking red while the machine is heating up for approximately 40 seconds. Afterwards, the power button lights steady green. The machine is ready to use.



Push the selection lever to the "HOT" or "COLD" position. Stay close to the machine throughout the preparation. After finishing preparation, the power button blinks. The recommended beverage preparation time is indicated on the capsule packs. To prepare the desired level, push the selection lever about the seconds. During that time, do not operate the handle. When the desired level is reached, push the selection lever to the "STOP" position. The machine stops preparation.



After extraction is finished, remove the cup from the machine. Open the locking handle. Pull out the capsule holder. Rinse the used capsule holder with fresh drinking water. Put the used capsule in the dustbin. Dry the capsule holder. Insert it back into the machine. Close the locking handle. Enjoy your beverage!

- PREPARING A BEVERAGE
- 2 TWO CAPSULES (E.G. CAPPUCCINO)



Check if the water tank contains enough fresh water. Adjust the tray position. Place the cup with the correct opening. Lock the size handle. Pull out the capsule holder. Make sure the opening lock tool is not inside. Insert the first capsule in the capsule holder. Switch on the machine. The power button starts blinking red. See 3. "BEVERAGE EXAMPLES" or the recommended capsule packs. While the machine is heating up for approximately 40 seconds, afterwards the power button lights steady green. The machine is ready to use.



Push the selection lever to the "HOT" or "COLD" position as recommended on the capsule packs. Stay beside the machine throughout the preparation. After the preparation, the power button blinks. Beverage preparation starts. To stop at the desired level, push the selection lever to the "STOP" position. The machine stops preparation. Do not open the locking handle!



Open the locking handle. Pull out the capsule holder. Remove the used capsule. Put the used capsule in the dustbin.
Insert the second capsule in the capsule holder. Insert the capsule holder back into the machine. Close the locking handle.
Push the selection lever to the "HOT" or "COLD" position as recommended on the capsule packs. Beverage preparation starts.
6. PREPARING A BEVERAGE

6.2 TWO CAPSULES (E.G. CAPPUCCINO)



Stay beside the machine throughout the preparation. To stop at the desired level, push the selection lever to the "STOP" position. The machine stops preparation.
After finishing the preparation, the power button blinks for about 5 seconds. During that time, do not open the locking handle!


Open the locking handle. Pull out the capsule holder. Remove the used capsule. Put the used capsule in the dustbin.
Remove capsule holder and rinse it with fresh drinking water from both sides. Dry the capsule holder. Insert it back into the machine. Enjoy your beverage!

7. CLEANING



Rinse and clean the water tank. Use a clean cloth and washing-up liquid as needed. Afterward, fill with fresh drinking water and insert it into the machine. The water tank is not dishwasher proof!
Clean the drip tray with a clean food-safe brush and fresh drinking water. The drip tray is not dishwasher proof!
Clean the water tank with a soft cloth, washing-up liquid, and fresh drinking water. Rinse both sides of the drip tray holder. Alternatively, wash it in the dishwasher. Dry it afterward.



Open the locking handle. Put the rinsing tool into the capsule holder. Insert the capsule holder into the machine. Close the locking handle. Place an empty large container underneath.
Insert the capsule holder into the machine. The power button starts blinking. Push the electrical lever to lock the machine and it will heat up for approximately 40 seconds. Afterwards, the power output button lights steady green. The machine is ready to use.
Move the selection lever to the "HOT" position. Machine



After approx. 10 seconds, push the selection lever. Open the locking handle. Pull out the capsule holder. Remove the capsule from the machine. Unplug the power plug! Clean the machine. Remove and empty the container. Warning: hot water. Insert the capsule holder. Place a drip tray on a soft cloth. Dry it afterward with a soft cloth. Handle with care! Insert the drip tray at the desired position. If any, remove water from the water tank.
Remove water from the water tank.
8. DESCALING AT LEAST EVERY 3–4 MONTHS


Use NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto® liquid descaler. To order, call the NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto® hotline or visit the NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto® website.

Do not use vinegar for descaling!

Avoid contact of descaling liquid with any part of the machine.

Do not push the power button during the descaling cycle.

If the beverage comes out slower than usual, switch off the machine. If any, remove water droplets, or if it is cooler than usual, or if the power button is steady orange (descaling signal), the machine has to be descaled.

Switch off the machine. If any, remove water droplets. If the power button is steady orange, the machine has to be descaled.

Fill the water tank with fresh drinking water and add descaler. Pour descaling solution into the water tank. Insert the water tank into the machine.

Open the locking handle. Put the rinsing tool into the capsule holder and hold the power button for at least 3 seconds. Insert the capsule holder into the machine. Close the locking handle. The power button starts blinking orange. The machine enters descaling mode. Place an empty large container underneath the coffee outlet.

Hold the power button for at least 3 seconds. The power button starts blinking orange. The machine enters descaling mode. Place an empty large container underneath the coffee outlet.

Push the selection lever to the "HOT" position. The machine descales. The power button blinks orange.

8. DESCALING AT LEAST EVERY 3–4 MONTHS

Check visually when the water tank is empty. Push the selection lever to the "STOP" position.

For the best effect of the descaler, wait for the descaler to work.

Empty the container. Rinse and clean the water tank with a clean food-safe brush and washing-up liquid. Afterwards, refill with fresh drinking water and insert the water tank into the machine.

Push the selection lever to the "HOT" position. The machine rinses. The power button blinks orange.

Check visually when the water tank is half full. Push the selection lever to the "STOP" position.

Push the selection lever to the "COLD" position. The machine rinses. The power button blinks orange.

Check visually when the water tank is empty. Push the selection lever to the "STOP" position.

Open the locking handle. Pull out the capsule holder. Remove the rinsing tool. Rinse the capsule holder with fresh drinking water. Rinse and clean the water tank. Refill the water tank with fresh drinking water. Insert it back. Clean the machine with a soft damp cloth. Dry it afterwards. Empty the container. Place the drip grid on the drip tray. Insert the strip dry cloth at the desired position.

9. TROUBLESHOOTING

9.1 ON / OFF ICON TURNED TO ORANGE COLOUR

ON / OFF ICON TURNED TO ORANGE COLOUR This means that the machine needs to be descaled. Follow instructions in 8. "Descaling at least every 3-4 months" on page 13.

9.2 NO LIQUID COMES OUT - NO WATER?

No liquid comes out and the machine makes a noise. Turn the selection lever to the "STOP" position.

Make sure the machine is not making a noise. Turn the selection lever to the "STOP" position.

Check if the water tank contains enough fresh water. If not, refill with fresh drinking water. Turn the selection lever to the "HOT" position respectively "COLD" to continue preparation. If the water tank is full, proceed as described in "NO LIQUID COMES OUT - CAPSULE INJECTOR BLOCKED?" on page 16.

9. TROUBLESHOOTING
- 9.3 NO LIQUID COMES OUT - CAPSULE / INJECTOR BLOCKED?

No liquid comes out: The capsule may be under pressure.

Always keep the machine upright! To stop, turn the selection lever to the "STOP" position. Do not handle by force. The machine releases pressure. Wait a few minutes to reduce the pressure.

To prepare coffee: Lift the locking handle. Remove the used capsule and dispose of it in the capsule bin. Wait for 20 minutes.

Rinse the machine: Follow instructions in 5. Close the locking handle. Clean with washing-up liquid and fresh drinking water. Clean the needle. Clean the sides of the capsule holder. Rinse the drip tray with fresh drinking water and clean it with a clean food-safe brush.




Unplug the machine! Remove the drip grid and drip tray. To access the injector, tilt the machine. Never touch with fingers! Clean the injector with the cleaning needle. Follow instructions in 8. "Descaling at least every 3-4 months" on page 13.

Machine cannot be switched on.

Check if the power plug is correctly plugged into the power socket. If yes, check your electricity. If the machine still cannot be switched on, call the NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto® hotline. For hotline numbers see "Machine Hotlines".

Power button flashes red fast.

Switch off machine. Check if capsule is blocked. If power button still flashes red, call the NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto® hotline. For hotline numbers see page 16. Unplug power plug and wait 20 minutes. Then plug power plug into mains power socket and switch machine on.
