Frequently Asked Questions - 16 Cup Rice Cooker and Food Steamer RC15-G Ambiano

How do I cook rice with the Ambiano RC15-G?
Measure rice using the included measuring cup (1 cup uncooked yields about 2 cups cooked). Rinse rice until water runs clear. Add rice and water to the inner pot (use the water level marks or follow the ratio 1:1.2 for white rice). Place the pot in the cooker, close the lid, and press the cook switch. The cooker will automatically switch to keep warm when done.
Can I use the steamer basket while cooking rice?
Yes, you can steam vegetables, fish, or other foods in the steaming basket while rice cooks below. Add water to the pot (enough for rice), place the steaming basket with food, close the lid, and start cooking. Ensure the steam vent is clear.
How much water should I use for different types of rice?
For white rice, use 1 part rice to 1.2 parts water. For brown rice, use 1 part rice to 2 parts water. For sushi rice, use 1 part rice to 1 part water. Adjust according to personal preference and refer to the water level marks inside the pot.
What should I do if the rice is undercooked or burnt?
If undercooked, add a few tablespoons of water and continue cooking with the switch manually pressed. If burnt, the ratio of water to rice may be too low or the pot may not be properly cleaned. Use the correct water ratio and ensure the heating plate is clean.
How do I clean the rice cooker?
Unplug the appliance and let it cool. Remove the inner pot and wash it with warm soapy water or in the dishwasher (top rack). Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the base in water. Clean the steaming basket and accessories similarly.
Can the inner pot be replaced?
Yes, the inner pot is a spare part. You can order a replacement from Ambiano customer service or authorized retailers. Ensure it’s the correct model (RC15-G) for proper fit.
Why does the cooker automatically switch off?
The rice cooker has an automatic shut-off feature that activates once the cooking cycle is complete (temperature rises). This prevents overcooking and allows the unit to switch to keep warm mode. If it shuts off prematurely, check if the power cord is loose or if the thermal fuse has tripped.
How long does it take to cook rice?
Cooking time depends on the type and amount of rice. Typically, white rice takes 15-20 minutes, brown rice takes 40-50 minutes. The cooker will automatically switch to keep warm when done.
Can I cook oatmeal or soup in this rice cooker?
Yes, you can use the rice cooker for oatmeal, soups, stews, and even pasta. However, avoid cooking acidic foods for extended periods as they may damage the non-stick coating. Always follow the fill line to avoid overflow.
Is the manual available in other languages?
Yes, you can request a translated manual by visiting the product page on notice-facile.com, selecting your preferred language, and providing your email. A translated version will be sent to you.
