Frequently Asked Questions - HCM-1100D Heinner

How do I descale the Heinner HCM-1100D coffee machine?
To descale, fill the water tank with a mixture of water and descaling solution (or white vinegar and water in a 1:1 ratio). Run a brewing cycle without coffee grounds, then repeat with clean water twice to rinse. Descale every 2-3 months depending on water hardness.
What should I do if the coffee tastes bitter?
Bitterness may be due to over-extraction or old coffee grounds. Use fresh, medium-ground coffee and reduce the amount. Also, clean the machine regularly, especially the filter basket and carafe, to remove coffee oil residue.
How do I clean the permanent filter?
Rinse the permanent filter under running water after each use. For deeper cleaning, wash it with mild dish soap and a soft brush. It is also dishwasher safe (top rack). Avoid abrasive cleaners.
Why does the machine stop brewing mid-cycle?
This may happen if the water tank is empty or if the machine overheats. Check the water level and ensure the carafe is properly positioned. If the issue persists, unplug and let it cool for 30 minutes, then try again.
Can I use ground coffee other than drip grind?
For best results, use medium grind coffee specifically for drip coffee makers. Fine grinds can clog the filter, while coarse grinds may under-extract. Avoid espresso or Turkish grind.
How do I replace the water tank or carafe?
The water tank and carafe are removable. To replace, simply lift the old part off and snap the new one into place. Ensure proper alignment. Spare parts can be ordered from Heinner or authorized dealers.
What do the indicator lights mean?
The power light (usually red) indicates the machine is on. A keep warm light (orange) activates when the carafe is on the hot plate. If blinking, it may indicate an error; consult the manual for details.
Is the carafe microwave safe?
No, the glass carafe is not microwave safe. It is designed for use on the hot plate only. Do not heat it on a stove or in a microwave.
How do I prevent coffee from dripping onto the hot plate?
Ensure the filter basket is properly seated and the permanent filter is not overfilled. The anti-drip valve prevents dripping when the carafe is removed, but if dripping occurs, check for cracks or misalignment.
What warranty does the Heinner HCM-1100D have?
The Heinner HCM-1100D typically comes with a 2-year warranty covering manufacturing defects. Register your product online for warranty activation. Proof of purchase is required for claims.
