General

The Symptom Charts included in this chapter will help you diagnose specific symptoms related to your product. Because cures are listed on the charts in the order of most likely solution, try the first cure first. Verify whether or not the product continues to exhibit the symptom. If the symptom persists, try the next cure. (Note: If you have replaced a module, reinstall the original module before you proceed to the next cure.)

No preliminary steps are required before you begin this procedure.

1 Remove the Phillips screw.
2 Pull up on the tabs and lift the cover until it comes off the front end.

Note: The speaker and speaker bracket are two separate, replaceable units. To remove the speaker, you must first remove the speaker bracket.

1 Disconnect the speaker connector from the logic board.

2 Gently lift the release latch and pull back on the bracket until it comes free from the case.

1 Gently squeeze together the two bracket latches and release them from the metal tabs.

2 Push up on the latches until you can access the fan power cable connector.

3 Disconnect the cable from the power supply and pull the fan bracket from the case.

4 Release the two latches and push the fan from the bracket.

Replacement Note: Push the fan wire into the power supply case far enough to prevent the fan blades from striking the wire.

1 Set the voltmeter to the 10 volts DC scale.
2 Hold the positive probe of the voltmeter to the positive end of the battery (marked “+” on the logic board) and the negative probe to the negative end of the battery.
