How do I brew tea with the Gastroback Design Tea & More Advanced 42438?

Fill the water tank to the desired level, add tea leaves or a tea bag into the removable filter, select the water temperature (e.g., 80°C for green tea, 100°C for black tea) and brewing time using the control panel, then press start. The machine will heat the water, steep the tea, and keep it warm.

Can I use the tea maker for herbal infusions?

Yes, you can use any loose leaf tea or herbal infusions. Simply adjust the temperature and steeping time according to the type of herb.

How do I clean the tea maker?

After each use, empty the jug and rinse with warm water. The filter and jug are dishwasher safe (top rack). For descaling, use a mixture of vinegar and water (1:3) or a commercial descaling solution, run a cycle, then rinse thoroughly.

What does the keep warm function do?

After brewing, the appliance maintains the tea at the selected temperature for up to 60 minutes, so you can enjoy a hot cup later.

Why does my tea maker shut off automatically?

The auto shut-off feature activates after 60 minutes of inactivity for safety. Also, boil-dry protection turns off the machine if there is insufficient water.

Can I adjust the brewing temperature?

Yes, you can set the temperature from 70°C to 100°C in 5°C increments, allowing precise brewing for different tea types.

What is the maximum water capacity?

The water tank holds up to 1.5 liters, which allows you to brew multiple cups at once.

The tea tastes bitter. What should I do?

Bitterness can be due to over-steeping or too high temperature. Reduce steeping time or lower the temperature by 5-10°C. Also, use fresh water and clean the filter regularly.

How do I replace the filter?

The filter is removable and can be replaced if damaged. Contact Gastroback customer service or order a spare filter (model-specific).

Is the glass jug heat-resistant?

Yes, the jug is made from borosilicate glass, which can withstand high temperatures without cracking.

Your new DESIGN TEA & MORE ADVANCED is a real all-rounder. It will heat up water to an individually selected temperature in the range of 40^ C to 100^ C (boiling) and keep it hot thereafter. Additionally, it is suited also for preparing a lot of beverages and even various dishes within the provided glass insert: soups and sauces as well as dips and fondue sauces for your next dinner party—for certain without any burn. But that's not all: The DESIGN TEA & MORE ADVANCED is best suited for warming up baby food and/or melting the ingredients for cakes and cookies, like chocolate, butter, and icings. Pre-programmed functions for preparing various types of tea make the wide range of possibilities complete.

The information in this booklet will easily and quickly inform you on the helpful benefits of your DESIGN TEA & MORE ADVANCED.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

Carefully read all instructions, before operating this appliance and save for further reference. Do not attempt to use this appliance in any other way and for any other purpose, than described in these instructions (intended use). Any other use, especially misuse, can cause severe injuries or damage by electric shock, heat, or fire.

These instructions are an essential part of the appliance. Do not pass the appliance without this booklet to third parties.

Any operation, repair and technical maintenance of the appliance or any part of it other than described in these instructions may only be performed at an authorised service centre (see: 'Warranty').

GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

- This appliance is for household use only and NOT intended for use in moving vehicles. Do not operate or store the appliance in humid or wet areas or outdoors. Any use of accessories, attachments or spare parts that are not recommended by the manufacturer or damaged in any way may result in injuries to persons and/or damage.

- DO NOT leave the appliance switched on and/or the power base connected to the power supply uselessly. Unplug the appliance, when it is not in use.

- Check the entire appliance regularly for proper operation (e.g. check for distortion, cracks, leaks, corroded pins of the power plug). Do not operate the appliance, when liquids escape during operation. Do not operate the appliance, when the appliance or any part of it is likely to be damaged, to avoid risk of fire, electric shock or any other injuries to persons and/or damage. The appliance or its parts are likely to be damaged, if the appliance has been subject to inadmissible strain (e.g. over heating, mechanical or electric shock), or if there are any cracks or leaks, excessively frayed or melted parts, or distortions, or if the appliance is not working properly. If one of these cases occur during operation, immediately unplug the appliance, and get in contact with an authorized service centre for examination and/or repair.

- Always handle the glass parts (kettle, glass insert, glass lid) with special care. Do not expose the glass parts to any excessive

mechanical stress, to avoid injuries and damage. Do not expose the glass parts to extreme variations in temperature to avoid cracks. Do not use the glass parts any more, with the glass cracked or chipped in any way. Even small splinters could cause severe injuries, when getting into your food or beverages.

• Operate the appliance on a well accessible, stable, level, clean, dry, and suitable large table or counter that is resistant against heat, fat, and water. Always wipe off spilled liquids immediately.
• Always keep the appliance in sufficient distance to the edge of the table or counter and to other objects. For operation, leave at least 1 m of free space above the appliance and at least 20 cm of free space on each side, to avoid damage due to steam and hot water. Do not operate the appliance under overhanging boards and drop-lights or near any delicate objects (e.g. curtains) to avoid damage due to hot steam and water, overheating, and fire.
• Do not place any clothes or tissue or other foreign objects under or on the appliance during operation, to avoid risk of fire, electric shock and overheating. Do not place the appliance over a power cord or on wet or inclined surfaces (e.g. sink or drain board).
• This appliance may be used or handled by persons (including children from 8 years and above) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, if they have been given supervision and/or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety, and if they understand and consider the involved hazards. Even cleaning may not be performed by children without supervision. Children must always be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance or any part of the appliance or the packaging. Always keep the appliance where it is dry, frost-free, and clean, and where young children cannot reach it. Do not leave the appliance or any part of it unattended, when in reach of young children.
• Do not place the appliance or any part of it on or near hot surfaces (e.g. burner, heater, or oven). Do not heat any parts or accessories of the appliance via any external sources of heat (e.g. other hea-

ting devices, fire). Do not fill the kettle anew with cold water, when the kettle is still hot, to avoid cracks and leakage. When adding cold water during operation, do not let cold water run down the side walls of the kettle but pour the water slowly into the middle of the kettle. Do not use any parts of the appliance with any other device or for any purpose not described in this booklet. Do not handle the appliance or any part of it with violence.

- Always switch OFF the appliance (hold the "Start/Stop" button pressed for 3 seconds), unplug and wait for the appliance to cool down completely, before cleaning the appliance and when the appliance is not in use. Do not use any hard or sharp-edged objects with the appliance (e.g. forks, knives, scrapers).

- For stirring, only use cooking utensils of wood or plastics to avoid damage to the glass. Do not use any electrically driven mixer for stirring or puréeing within the kettle or glass insert. To avoid injuries and damage, always remove the glass insert from the kettle before pouring.

- For emptying the glass insert, always remove the glass insert from the kettle (see: 'Operation'). For this, always lift the glass insert via the glass insert lid ring out of the kettle. Do not tilt the kettle with the glass insert in it to avoid damage. The kettle is intended only for heating clear drinking water or tea. For heating food and other beverages, always use the glass insert. For de-scaling, only use the liquids recommended in this booklet. Do not fill in any other liquids or food directly into the kettle to avoid injuries and damage due to fire, electric shock, and high temperatures. To avoid overheating, before operation, always fill a sufficient amount of clear drinking water into the tea kettle (at least 500 ml/MIN). Do not operate the appliance with the kettle empty. Always observe the appropriate filling levels (see: 'Technical Specifications'). Please, keep in mind that the filling level may rise significantly, when putting the glass insert into the kettle. Also, the filling level could drop significantly, when operating the kettle for a long time on high temperature. If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may splash out.

- Do not place any hard and/or heavy objects on or in the appliance or any part or accessory of it.

• Do not use any abrasive cleaners, cleaning pads (e.g. metal scouring pads), or any corrosive chemicals (e.g. bleach) for cleaning. Do not place the power base or kettle in an automatic dishwasher!
• Depending on the hardness of your water, you need to de-scale the kettle regularly. A large amount of scale will lead to energy loss and could cause damage to the appliance (see: 'Care and Cleaning').

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS FOR ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES

The appliance is heated electrically. Place the appliance near a suitable wall power outlet to connect the appliance directly to a separately connected and protected mains power supply with protective conductor (earth/ground) connected properly. Ensure that the ratings of your mains power supply correspond to the requirements of the appliance (220/240 V AC, 50/60Hz).

• The installation of a residual current operated circuit breaker (r.c.c.b.) with a maximum rated residual operating current of 30 mA in the supplying electrical circuit is strongly recommended. If in doubt, contact your electrician for further information.
• In various foreign countries, the specifications for power supplies are subject to incompatible norms. Therefore, it is possible that power supplies in foreign countries do not meet the requirements for safe operation of the appliance. Thus, before operating the appliance abroad, ensure that safe operation is possible.
• Do not use any desk top multi socket outlet, external timer, remote control systems or extension cord. The power outlet must always be easily accessible so that it would be possible to unplug the appliance immediately in case of any malfunction or danger.
• The pins of the power plug and the power connectors in the power base and bottom of the kettle must be smooth and clean without discolourations. Especially keep the power connectors (kettle and base) always completely dry. Do not poke in the power connectors. Do not attempt to operate the appliance with the power connectors damaged or polluted in any way to avoid risk of overheating, fire and electric shock.

- Always handle power cords with care. Do not place the appliance on a power cord. Power cords may never be knotted, twisted, pulled, strained or squeezed. Do not let the plug or power cord hang over the edge of the table or counter. The power cord may never touch hot surfaces, sharp edges, or any moving parts. Ensure that no one will pull the appliance by the power cord. Take care not to entangle in the power cord. Always grasp the plug to disconnect the power cord. Do not touch the appliance or power plug with wet hands, while the appliance is connected to the power supply.

- Always unwind the power cord completely for operation to avoid hazard of overheating, fire and electric shock.

- If liquids run out or are spilled onto the exterior of the power base or kettle, immediately unplug the appliance. Always wipe off spilled liquids immediately. If in doubt, check the kettle for leakage, before operating the appliance again.

- Do not place or immerse the power base, kettle or power cord in water or any other liquid. DO NOT spill or drip any liquids on the power base or the power cord or on the exterior of the kettle to avoid risk of fire and electric shock. When parts of the appliance are leaking during operation and/or liquids accumulate under the power base or run down on the exterior of the appliance or any part of it, immediately unplug the appliance. Refer to the instructions in chapter 'Solving Problems'.

- Do not place the power base or kettle in an automatic dishwasher.

- Do not place the power base on a metal surface, large bowl, or tray for operation. If water is spilled or runs out and accumulates, there would be severe risk of short-cut, electric shock, and fire.

- A cordless water kettle should not be filled while standing on its power base. Always remove the kettle from the power base for filling and pouring. For filling, always remove the lid.

⚠ WARNING: The Tea & More is equipped with electric heating elements for heating up drinking water. Thus, the appliance could cause severe scalds, burns and damage, when used improperly.

• Always hold the kettle level when filled, to avoid spilling. The appliance and the contents will be hot even for some time after operation. Always leave the appliance cool down to room temperature, before cleaning or storing the appliance.
• Even with the lid properly closed, hot steam and splashes of hot water could escape during operation. Do not hold your face or other parts of your body over or directly near the appliance during operation and while the appliance is still hot to avoid scalds due to steam and splashes.
• Do not expose the kettle, glass insert, or glass lid to extreme variations in temperature to avoid cracks (see: 'Properties of Your New Tea & More').
• Even the exterior of the appliance could get very hot during operation. Only touch the appliance and its parts and accessories at the operating elements and the handles, when they could be hot. Beware of hot steam and condensate, when opening the lid and/or emptying the kettle. Before pouring, wait until the water has stopped boiling and then pour carefully to avoid spilling. If the kettle is tilted too much, the water could run out besides the spout, thus getting spilled. Keep the lid closed during operation and when the water is boiling or still very hot, to avoid scalding.
• For handling the glass insert after cooking, protect your hands against heat.

PROPERTIES OF YOUR TEA & MORE

Your new Design Tea & More Advanced is intended for heating up drinking water to a selectable temperature in the range between 40^ C to the boiling temperature ( 100^ C). Depending on the currently running program, in the extreme case the selected temperature can be maintained for several hours. For some programs, a keep warm mode is provided.

Several programs for preparing tea or for cooking and heating up food in the provided glass insert are available. When connected to the power supply and after completion of the selected program, the appliance will enter standby mode. Additionally, when in standby mode, without any entries for more than 5 minutes, the appliance will shut-off automatically, to avoid useless power consumption. However, you should not leave the appliance connected to the power supply uselessly. Additionally, you should not leave the appliance operate in keep warm mode uselessly. To avoid excessive energy loss, you may cancel any operating cycle at any time you like by holding the "Start/Stop" button pressed for approx. 3 seconds.

During operation, only the "Start/Stop" button and "°C/Time" button are active (see below: 'Functions, Display and Acoustic Signals'). Any other operating elements are idle. If you wish to make new entries, cancel the running program.

Important: For operation, always close the kettle using the appropriate lid set (lid ring and lid). With the lid open, the temperature control and automatic shut-off will not work properly and there will be high energy loss.

Depending on the water hardness of your drinking water, the appliance needs regular de-scaling (see: 'Care and Cleaning'). Otherwise, the temperature control will not work properly, there will be an increasing energy loss, and overheating of the heating elements could occur.

Important: When using the cooking programs "Boil" or "Custom" with high temperature settings and long cooking times, please check the filling level regularly, because large amounts of water within the kettle could be vaporized during operation, leading to a considerable high drop in the filling level. The filling level may not go down below the MIN filling level (500 ml), to avoid overheating. Thus, keep the filling level under supervision during operation. If required, you can add the appropriate amount of water without cancelling the running program (see: 'Adding Water during Operation').

Note

If the appliance is idle for more than 5 minutes, the appliance will shut off completely and the display gets dark for saving energy. You may reactivate the appliance at any time by simply pressing any button.

FUNCTIONS, DISPLAY AND ACOUSTIC SIGNALS

When connecting the appliance to the power supply, the display will be illuminated. Then the first tea program ("Green") is selected and the display shows the pre-programmed water temperature for this type of tea.

• The upper line indicates the currently selected tea program. You switch to the other tea programs by pressing the "Tea" button.
• By pressing the "Hot water/Cooking" button, you may select the cooking programs, indicated on the lowest line of the display.
• In the central line, the selected parameter values are shown: temperature and time. At any stage of operation, you may press the "°C/Time" button to toggle between the parameters, shown on the display: actual/set temperature or time duration. After approx. 6 seconds, the appliance will switch back to the default parameter automatically.
• During operation, at the leftmost column of the display the current phase of operation is shown: "Heating", "Steeping" (cooking time), or "Warm" (keep warm function). During the heating process, a rising bar is shown on the right side. This bar is illuminated continuously, as soon as the selected temperature is reached, and a signal sounds.

During steeping a count-down timer shows the still remaining cooking time. While the keep warm function is running, a count-up timer is shown.

After the selected program is complete, the set temperature is shown again.

After starting a program, the display will switch to showing the actual water temperature. However, with the actual water temperature below 30^ C there will be two dashes.

Various acoustic signals sound with all significant states of operation: connecting to the power supply, starting or stopping a program, completing the heating process, end of the cooking process.

KEEP WARM FUNCTION AND WAITING FUNCTION

Several programs of the appliance will switch to the keep warm function automatically. After the preset keep warm time (60 minutes) has elapsed, the appliance will switch back to standby mode automatically and the heating plate will be deactivated.

Additionally, with the tea programs and the "Custom" program, the appliance will sound a signal and switch to the waiting function as soon as the set temperature is reached. If you did not press the "Start/Stop" button, after another 2 minutes, the signal will be repeated as a remainder. Use this phase to insert the prepared tea filter or further delicate ingredients and, thereafter, press the "Start/Stop" button.

Important: If you do not press "Start/Stop", the appliance will cancel the running program after 10 minutes automatically.

TEA PROGRAMS - "TEA" BUTTON

There are 6 adjustable tea programs with pre-defined values.

Note

The pre-set steeping times are intended for a somewhat mild tea. Especially when using tea bags, you may prefer an increased steeping time.

Note

Some medicinal plants must be extracted at low temperature for an elongated time period. You can prepare even these special types of tea using the appliance. If required, simply use the cooking program "Custom", which can be programmed in the full range of time and temperature (see below: 'Cooking Programs').

COOKING PROGRAMS - THE "HOT WATER/COOKING" BUTTON

Clear drinking water may be heated directly in the kettle, with the kettle closed with the tea lid set (tea lid ring and tea lid). For heating food, you will need the glass

insert and the glass insert lid set (lid ring with large opening and large lid). Especially delicate food that could burn easily when heated on a range, can be cooked this way without burning. Thus the appliance is perfectly suited for heating delicate food (e.g. baby food) and melting chocolate or butter, or cooking food that is vigorously frothing when cooked on a range.

The appliance provides a completely programmable cooking program ("Custom") for preparing food in the glass insert. If you start this program with new values set, the new values will be kept in memory—even after shut off and disconnecting the appliance from the power supply.

For using the glass insert, the kettle must be filled with 0.5 litres (500 ml / MIN) to 1.1 litres (maximum) of water. You should adjust the amount of water within the kettle according to the amount of food in the glass insert. Otherwise, the glass insert could swim within the kettle and the lid can not be closed properly. Up to 0.48 litres (480 ml) of food or beverages may be filled into the glass insert. For heating, hang the glass insert into the kettle via the glass insert lid ring. This way, your food will not burn during cooking. The water within the kettle can be heated from 40°C to 100°C (boiling temperature). Using the program "Custom", you can set temperature and cooking time as you like.

Important: The large glass insert lid ring will only lay loosely on the kettle to ensure that you can lift the glass insert easily out of the kettle by the lid ring. Thus, you may not tilt the kettle with the glass insert hanging in the kettle.

The "Baby" program is pre-defined for warming up 150 ml to 170 ml milk or baby food (approx. 190 g mash) to 35-40°C in approx. 5-6 minutes. If you wish to heat

up larger amounts, simply leave the glass insert holding the food in the kettle somewhat longer.

SELF-RESETTING DRY BOIL PROTECTION

• too much scale on the heating elements. De-scale the kettle in time (see: 'Care and Cleaning').
• too little water in the kettle. Always observe the MIN filling level (0.5 litre). Please keep in mind, that water will vaporize, when left for a long time in the kettle on high temperature. Observe the filling level during operation.

If overheating occurs, the kettle will automatically switch off the heating elements. In this case, remove the kettle from the base and pour out the water. Then leave the kettle cool down by waiting at least 30 minutes. Thereafter, you can reactivate the appliance.

BEFORE FIRST USE

⚠ WARNING: DO NOT let young children play with the appliance or any part of it! The glass parts (kettle, glass insert, glass lid) are fragile. Always use special care when handling the glass parts. Even small splinters and shards could cause severe injuries, when getting into your food or beverages. Thus, do not use glass parts again, when there are any cracks or chipped edges. Do not pour cold water into the hot kettle. Always leave the kettle cool down before filling it again. For operation, always unwind the power cord completely to avoid hazard due to overheating, fire, and electric shock. Always unplug the appliance before cleaning it, and when it is not in use. Do not place the kettle or power base in an automatic dishwasher. Do not place or immerse the appliance (power base and kettle) or power cord in water or other liquids or spill any liquids on the power base, power cord, or the exterior of the kettle. For filling, always remove the kettle from the power base. Do not use any abrasive or corrosive cleaners for cleaning to avoid damage to the surfaces.

1. Unpack the appliance and all parts and accessories carefully. Check that no parts are damaged or missing (see: 'Knowing Your New Design Tea & More Advanced'). Carefully remove all packaging, shipping materials, stickers, and promotional materials. However, DO NOT remove the model label.
2. Before first use and after a longer period of storage, clean all parts of the appli-

ance (see: 'Care and Cleaning'). Rinse the interior of the kettle thoroughly with clear tap water.

1. Select a suitable place for operating the appliance near a sufficient wall power outlet, leaving a distance of at least 20 cm to the edge of the table or counter and to any other object (see: 'General Safety Instructions'). Completely unwind the power cord and connect the power plug directly to the power outlet.
2. Fill the kettle with 1.5 litres of clear drinking water and bring the water to the boil via the "Hot water" program (see: 'Operation/Bringing Water to the Boil'). Thereafter discard the water and wait until the kettle cooled down.
3. Repeat the previous step.
4. Then rinse the kettle with clear tap water. The appliance is now ready for use.

OPERATION

⚠ WARNING: Always ensure that the appliance and all its parts and accessories are out of reach of young children. The glass parts (kettle, glass insert, glass lid) could break or crack when handled carelessly. Even small splinters and shards could cause severe injuries when getting into your food and beverages. Thus, always handle the glass parts with special care to avoid injuries and damage. Do not use any glass parts any longer when these parts are broken, cracked, or chipped in any way.

Hot water and steam could case severe scalds. Always ensure not to spill hot water. Always ensure that the kettle will not fall or fall over while containing hot water. During operation and some time thereafter, only touch the kettle and lid by the handles, as the exterior of the kettle and the lid may be hot. Even with the lid closed, hot steam could escape from under the lid. Do not hold any part of your body or any delicate objects over or directly near the appliance while the appliance is hot. Beware of hot steam and condensate, when removing the glass insert and/or pouring out the water.

The kettle is heated via electrically powered heating elements. Do not attempt to heat the kettle by any other source of heat. Directly within the kettle only clear drinking water and tea may be heated. Do not fill in any other beverages, food, or any foreign liquids into the kettle. For heating food and beverages other than water or tea, always use the glass insert.

Unplug the appliance and leave it cool down completely, before cleaning the appliance, and when the appliance is not in use. Do not leave the base unattended while connected to the power supply.

If water runs out during operation, immediately unplug the appliance (see: 'Solving Problems').

Ensure to place the appliance on a level, flat, stable, and dry surface. Do not place the appliance near the edge of the working space or on inclined surfaces. Do not operate the appliance in a tray or tub or on a metal surface to avoid high risk of electric shock, when overflow or splashing of hot water occurs. To avoid overheating, before operation, always fill a sufficient amount of clear drinking water into the kettle (at least 500 ml/MIN). Do not operate the appliance with the kettle empty. Always remove the kettle from the base and wait until the kettle cooled down, before filling the kettle anew. For adding water while a cooking program is running, always pour the cold water into the middle of the kettle. For this, take out the glass insert first. Do not leave cold water run down the side walls of the kettle, it the kettle is hot.

Do not fill in more than the maximum amount (see: 'Technical Specifications'). If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may splash out. For moving the kettle, always ensure to hold the kettle level, when it is filled. Regularly de-scale the kettle (see: 'Care and Cleaning').

Important: The maximum water temperature of the keep warm function is limited to 90 - 95°C, because water will vaporize too quickly when kept at boiling temperature. Thus, the water level could fall easily below the minimum amount of 500 ml.

Note

Directly after the "Heating" phase, the actual water temperature within the kettle could rise above the set temperature. Take this into account especially when using only little amounts of water in the kettle and setting low temperatures.

REPARING THE APPLIANCE FOR OPERATION

⚠ WARNING: Always ensure that glass kettle is undamaged, before preparing any food or beverages within the kettle. There may be no cracks and chipped edges. Even small splinters could cause severe injuries when getting into your food or beverages.

1. Place the power base on the designated working place near an appropriate wall power outlet (see: 'General Safety Instructions' and 'Important Safeguards for Electrical Appliances').
2. Remove the kettle from the power base and remove the lid from the kettle.
3. Fill the desired amount of clear drinking water into the kettle. Ensure that the fil-

ling level is above the MIN indicator ("500 ml/MIN"). However, do not overfill the kettle. Observe the maximum filling level depending on the intended task.

• Heating water: 1.5 litres ("1500 ml/Water MAX");
• Preparing tea: 1.2 litres ("1200 ml/Tea MAX");
  • Using the glass insert: 1.1 litres (1100 ml).

Important: Always keep the kettle level, as soon as it is filled. When filling the kettle, ensure not to spill water on the exterior of the kettle. If required, wipe dry the exterior of the kettle, before placing the kettle onto the power base.

1. Ensure that the exterior of the kettle is dry. Then place the kettle onto the power base and connect the appliance to the power supply. A beep will sound and the display will get illuminated. The first tea program ("Green") will be selected and the set temperature of this program will be shown on the display. The appliance is now ready for operation (Standby mode).

Note

You may cancel any operating cycle at any time via holding the "Start/Stop" button pressed for approx. 3 seconds until a signal sounds. The appliance will switch back to standby mode.

If the appliance is idle for more than 5 minutes, the kettle will shut off and the display will get dark. Press any button, if you wish to switch on the appliance. To reduce energy consumption, it is good advice to avoid leaving the appliance in keep warm mode uselessly.

BRINGING WATER TO THE BOIL

Prepare the appliance for operation (see above: 'Preparing the Appliance for Operation') filling the kettle with the desired amount of water from 0.5 litres ("500ml/MIN") to 1.5 litres ("1500 ml/Water MAX").

1. Close the kettle using the tea lid set (see: 'Knowing Your New Tea & More'). Push the tea lid ring down on the kettle until it settles firmly. Then, holding the tea lid by the handle, insert the tea lid in the tea lid ring with the white arrow pointing to "Open". Turn the tea lid clockwise within the tea lid ring to "Close" for locking the tea lid securely.

Important: Do not operate the kettle with the lid open. Otherwise, the temperature control and automatic shut-off will not work properly. Additionally, there will be high energy loss. It is crucial, that the tea lid set is installed firmly on the kettle. Otherwise the lid set could fall down during pouring.

1. Press the "Hot water/Cooking" button to select the "Hot water" program. "100°C" will be shown on the display. With this program you cannot make any further entries.
2. Shortly press the "Start/Stop" button to start the boiling cycle. The kettle starts heating immediately. On the display, two dashes are shown first. As soon as the water in the kettle reaches 30^ C the actual water temperature is shown. With the water at boiling temperature ( 100^ C), the appliance switches off the heating plate and, with an acoustic signal, goes back to standby mode immediately.
3. Remove the kettle from the power base and carefully pour the water. With the tea lid set installed correctly, the lid set will not fall during pouring. Ensure not to spill the hot water to avoid injuries and damage.

MAKING TEA

You may make your tea directly within the kettle. You will need the tea lid ring (with small opening), the small tea lid, and, when using tea leaves or dried fruits without a tea bag, the tea filter.

1. Prepare the appliance for operation (see above: 'Preparing the Appliance for Operation'). For this, fill the kettle with the desired amount of water between 0.5 litres ("500 ml/MIN") and 1.2 litres ("1200 ml/Tea MAX"). Do not overfilling the kettle, to avoid overflow, when the water is boiling or the ingredients for your tea are swelling up.
2. Fill the tea filter with the ingredients for your tea.
3. Place the tea lid ring on top of the kettle and press it down to fix it. Close the opening in the lid ring with the tea lid.
4. Select the desired tea program by pressing the "Tea" button several times until the desired program is indicated on the top line of the display (see: 'Tea Programs'). The pre-set temperature for each tea program is shown on the display.

Note

With the tea program "Ice", only the steeping time can be set.

1. If you wish to change the temperature, turn the "°C/Time" knob, until the desired temperature is displayed. Temperature values from 40°C to 100°C (boiling) are possible.

2. If you wish to change the steeping time, press the "°C/Time" button for switching to time display. Turn the "°C/Time" knob, until the desired time is shown. Time values from 30 seconds (0m30s) to 10 minutes (10m00s) are possible. Using the "°C/Time" button, you can switch between time and temperature as you like.

3. Press the "Start/Stop" button to start the program. The appliance will heat the water within the kettle. As soon as the set temperature is reached, a signal sounds and the "Start/Stop" button flashes. A count-up timer starts counting on the display.

⚠ WARNING: With high water temperature set, hot steam may escape when removing the tea lid and the tea lid may be hot. Only touch the tea lid by the handle and be aware of hot steam, when removing the tea lid.

1. Remove the tea lid and immerse the prepared tea filter into the kettle by hanging the tea filter into the tea lid ring. If required, turn the tea filter on the lid ring until it settles down. Thereafter replace the tea lid.
2. Press the "Start/Stop" button. The appliance will start a count-down timer with the set time value and "Steeping" will appear on the left side of the display.

Important: If you do not press the "Start/Stop" button, the appliance will wait for approx. 10 minutes and thereafter shut off with an acoustic signal, to avoid useless energy consumption.

Important: To keep your working space dry and clean, we recommend to place the tea filter onto the provided stainless steel bowl. The keep warm function is limited to 80^ C. When pressing the " ^ C/Time" button with a program running, the actual water temperature within the kettle will be shown on the display for approx. 6 seconds. Thereafter the display returns to showing the time.

1. As soon as the set steeping time elapsed, an acoustic signal sounds again and the appliance switches to the keep warm function automatically ("Warm"). Remove the tea lid by the handle and take out the tea filter. However, if the tea is still too light and weak, you may decide to leave the tea filter within the kettle for some additional time. To take this into account, a second signal sounds after 40 seconds.
2. After taking out the tea filter, you should replace the tea lid securely within the tea lid ring: Holding the tea lid by the handle, insert the tea lid in the tea lid ring with the white arrow pointing to "Open". Turn the tea lid clockwise within the tea lid ring to "Close" to lock it securely.

Important: Ensure that the tea lid ring is installed firmly on the kettle and the tea lid is locked securely. Otherwise, the tea lid set could fall down during pouring.

1. If you remove the kettle from the power base after steeping to pour some tea, the appliance will switch back to standby mode automatically. Otherwise, the keep warm function will run for 60 minutes. Then the appliance will switch back to standby mode. With no button pressed for another 5 minutes, the appliance will shut off.

Note

You may cancel any running program whenever you like. For this, simply hold the "Start/Stop" button pressed for 3 seconds until the beep sounds.

COOKING IN THE KETTLE - HOT WATER/COOKING

By using the glass insert, you can cook various types of food within your tea kettle. For this, the kettle must be filled with water to a filling level between 500 ml (MIN) and 1100 ml. However, you should adapt the filling level in the kettle to the amount of food in the glass insert. Otherwise the glass insert could swim in the kettle and therefore the stainless steel glass insert lid cannot be closed correctly. Up to 480 ml of food may be filled into the glass insert. Please adapt your recipe. Place the glass insert into the tea kettle via the glass insert lid set (see: 'Knowing Your New Tea & More'). The water within the kettle is heated to a temperature between 40°C and 100°C (boiling temperature). Select the required water temperature in standby mode.

⚠️ CAUTION: To avoid damage and risk of scalds, do not tilt the kettle or pour the water within the kettle or add water to the kettle, while the glass insert is mounted within the kettle. Always remove the glass insert and glass insert lid set, before pouring or adding water.

Tip: You may cancel any running program whenever you like. For this, simply hold the "Start/Stop" button pressed for 3 seconds. To reduce energy consumption, it is good advice to avoid leaving the appliance running uselessly.

ADDING WATER DURING OPERATION

If the filling level within the kettle drops below the MIN filling level (500 ml) during operation, you need to add some water to the kettle.

1. By grasping both handles of the lid ring, lift the glass insert up and out of the kettle. Place the glass insert onto the stainless steel bowl provided or on any other suitable coaster.

⚠️ CAUTION: Do not let cold water run down at the side walls of the kettle, when the kettle is hot. When adding water during operation, always pour the water slowly into the middle of the kettle. Otherwise, the glass could crack! Please observe the maximum filling level for operation with the glass insert (1 100ml). Do not overfill the kettle. Otherwise the water could splash during operation or run out, when replacing the glass insert.

1. Pour the required amount of water slowly into the middle of the kettle.

2. Replace the glass insert in the kettle by holding the glass insert with the handles of the glass insert lid ring. The kettle will heat the water up to the set temperature and carry on executing the running program as normal.

COOKING MEALS WITHIN THE KETTLE - "BOIL" AND "CUSTOM"

Various meals can be cooked within the tea kettle (see: 'Recipes'). For this, it is best to use the cooking programs "Boil" or "Custom". When putting your own ideas into practice, please keep in mind that the temperature within the glass insert will be slightly below the set temperature within the kettle. The higher the set temperature, the higher the difference will be. Additionally, the difference will depend on the amount of water within the kettle and the amount of food within the glass insert. To keep the difference as low as possible, you should always use the glass lid and the stainless steel lid of the glass insert lid set.

Note

You should adapt the filling level in the kettle to the amount of food you wish to cook/heat in the glass insert. With only a small amount of food in the glass insert, you should reduce the maximum amount of water in the kettle to 700 - 800 ml.

⚠ WARNING: Before each use, always ensure that the glass insert and glass lid are undamaged. There may be no cracks or chipped edges. When taking the glass insert out of the kettle after cooking, please keep in mind that the glass insert could be hot and hot condensate and steam could escape, depending on the set temperature. If required, use pot holders or rubber gloves to protect your hands. Do not place the hot glass insert on any surfaces sensitive to heat and moisture.

Note

The cooking program "Custom" will heat the water within the kettle up to the individually adjustable temperature from 40°C to 100°C. With the "Boil" program the temperature is set to 100°C automatically, and the water will be heated up to the boil first. Thereafter the selected cooking time ("Steeping") will start and the appliance will keep the water at the set temperature. However, the maximum temperature during cooking time is limited to 90 - 95°C to avoid too high loss of water due to evaporation. After the cooking time elapsed, a signal sounds and the keep warm function ("Warm") is started, running for up to 60 minutes. With the keep warm function, the temperature in the kettle is limited to 80°C at the maximum.

Tip: If you wish to use special temperature settings or elongated cooking times, use the "Custom" program (see: 'Properties of Your Tea & More/Cooking Programs').

Important: Please keep in mind, that the water within the kettle will vaporize gradually, when kept at high temperature for an elongated time. Thus, check the filling level at least every 15 - 20 minutes, when using the cooking programs at high temperature settings. The filling level may not fall below the MIN filling level (500 ml). If required, add some water to the kettle (see: 'Adding Water during Operation').

USING THE "BOIL" PROGRAM

1. Ensure that glass insert and glass lid are clean and undamaged. There may be no cracks and chipped edges. If required, sterilize the glass parts via hot water before filling in your food.
2. Fill 500 ml to 1100 ml of clear tap water into the kettle and place the kettle onto the power base.
3. Fill the prepared food into the glass insert. However, do not fill in more than 480 ml. Then close the glass insert via the glass lid.
4. Place the glass insert lid ring (large opening) onto the work space and place the glass insert into the central opening of the lid ring.
5. Then lift the lid ring by both handles. With the glass insert hanging in the lid ring, slowly lower the glass insert into the kettle until the lid ring rests on the rim of the kettle. Close the opening of the lid ring via the large stainless steel lid of the glass insert lid set.
6. Press the "Hot water/Cooking" button repeatedly until "Boil" is indicated at the lowest line of the display.
7. Set the cooking time by turning the "°C/Time" knob until the required value is shown.

Note

With the "Boil" program, you can only set the cooking time in the range of 0 to 30 minutes ("30m00s"). The temperature setting is fixed. If you wish to use another temperature, use the completely programmable "Custom" program.

After the program is started, using the "°C/Time" button, you can toggle the parameters shown on the display as you like. After 6 seconds without any actions, the appliance will switch back to the usually displayed parameter.

1. Press the "Start/Stop" button to start the program. The appliance will heat the water within the kettle immediately. As soon as the boiling temperature is reached, the count-down timer of the cooking time ("Steeping") starts. However, during the cooking time the kettle reduces the temperature to 90-95°C. At the end of the set cooking time, a signal sounds and will be repeated once after 40 seconds. The

appliance automatically switches to the keep warm function ("Warm").

Tip: To keep your work space dry, you should keep the provided stainless steel bowl or another sufficient coaster at hand, to place the glass insert on it after cooking.

Note

The temperature of the keep warm function is limited to 80^ C.

⚠ WARNING: The glass insert and glass lid will be hot and hot steam and condensate may escape from the kettle and the glass insert. Protect your hands with rubber gloves or oven mitts to avoid burns.

1. Grasp the lid ring at both handles and lift the lid ring including the glass insert out of the kettle. Carefully place the glass insert on the stainless steel bowl or a suitable coaster and lay down the lid ring. Now you can grasp the glass insert easily for taking out your food.
2. If your food is done, hold the "Start/Stop" button pressed for 3 seconds to switch off the appliance. Otherwise, the appliance will keep the set temperature (80°C at the maximum) for another 60 minutes.
3. If your food needs some more cooking time, you may simply replace the glass insert in the kettle and leave the appliance running the keep warm function until your food is done. Alternatively, you may cancel the program by holding the "Start/Stop" button pressed for 3 seconds and thereafter start the "Boil" program again with the appropriate time setting.
4. After the keep warm time elapsed, the appliance will switch back to standby mode automatically. 5 minutes later on, the appliance will shut off completely and the display will get dark.
5. After usage, you should discard the water within the kettle to avoid excessive build-up of scale on the heating plate. Unplug the appliance.

CREATING YOUR OWN COOKING PROGRAM

You can adapt the "Custom" program to your own requirements. Select a temperature in the range of 40^ to 100^ (boiling) and cooking time of 30 seconds to 12 hours, just according to your recipe. To avoid excessive loss of water within the kettle during operation, the water temperature within the kettle is limited to 90 - 95^ during the cooking time ("Steeping"). However, with a temperature setting of 100^ , the kettle will bring the water to the boil first.

The values you had set when starting the "Custom" program will be kept in memory even after switching off and unplugging the appliance.

Note

After the set cooking time ("Steeping") elapsed, the appliance will switch to the keep warm function ("Warm"), keeping your meal warm for additional 60 minutes. However, the temperature for the keep warm function is limited to 80^ at the maximum.

Important: Please keep in mind, that the recent settings will be overwritten by any new values you have set when starting the "Custom" program again.

1. Ensure that glass insert and glass lid are clean and undamaged. There may be no cracks and chipped edges. If required, sterilize the glass parts via hot water before filling in your food.
2. Fill 500 ml to 1100 ml of clear tap water into the kettle and place the kettle onto the power base.
3. Fill the prepared food into the glass insert. However, do not fill in more than 480 ml. Then close the glass insert via the glass lid.
4. Place the glass insert lid ring (large opening) onto the work space and place the glass insert into the central opening of the lid ring.
5. Then lift the lid ring by both handles. With the glass insert hanging in the lid ring, slowly lower the glass insert into the kettle until the lid ring rests on the rim of the kettle. Close the opening of the lid ring via the large stainless steel lid of the glass insert lid set.
6. Press the "Hot water/Cooking" button repeatedly until "Custom" is indicated at the lowest line of the display. The recently used temperature is displayed.
7. To adjust the temperature, turn the "°C/Time" knob until the required temperature is shown on the display. You can set the temperature in the range of 40^ C to 100^ C.
8. Press the "°C/Time" button to display the set cooking time. Turn the "°C/Time" knob until the required value is shown.

Note

You can set the cooking time from 30 seconds ("0m30s") to 12 hours ("12h00mm"). Using the "°C/Time" button, you can toggle the parameters as you like. After 6 seconds without any actions, the appliance will switch back to the normally displayed parameter.

You may use this interruption to add further delicate ingredients. As a reminder, the acoustic signal will be repeated after 2 minutes.
2. Press the "Start/Stop" button to start the cooking time ("Steeping"). The kettle keeps the set temperature (90 - 95°C at the maximum). At the end of the set cooking time, a signal sounds and will be repeated one after 40 seconds. The appliance automatically switches to the keep warm function ("Warm").

Important: If you do not press the „Start/Stop“ button after reaching the set temperature, the appliance will wait 10 minutes. Thereafter, the program will be cancelled automatically.

Note

The temperature of the keep warm function is limited to 80^ C.

Tip: To keep your work space dry, you should keep the provided stainless steel bowl or another sufficient coaster at hand, to place the glass insert on it after cooking.

1. Grasp the lid ring at both handles and lift the glass insert via the lid ring out of the kettle. Carefully place the glass insert on the stainless steel bowl or a sufficient coaster and lay down the lid ring. Now you can grasp the glass insert easily for taking out your food.
2. If your food is done, hold the "Start/Stop" button pressed for 3 seconds until the beep sounds to switch off the appliance. Otherwise, the appliance will keep the water in the kettle warm (80°C at the maximum) for another 60 minutes ("Warm"). Thereafter the appliance switches back to standby mode automatically. 5 minutes later on, the appliance will shut off completely and the display will get dark.
3. After usage, you should discard the water within the kettle to avoid excessive build-up of scale on the heating plate. Unplug the appliance.

MAKING YOGHURT

You can produce your own yoghurt from up to 400 ml pure milk and 40-50 ml living lactobacillus yoghurt by using the glass insert with glass lid and the assigned lid set.

1. Ensure that glass insert and glass lid are clean and undamaged. There may be no cracks and chipped edges. Sterilize the glass parts via hot water before filling in milk and yoghurt.
2. Fill approx. 1 litre of clear tap water into the kettle and place the kettle onto the power base.
3. Fill 400ml fresh milk into the glass insert. Stir in 40-50 ml of living lactobacillus yoghurt. Then close the glass insert via the glass lid.
4. Place the glass insert lid ring (large opening) onto the work space and put the glass insert into the central opening of the lid ring.
5. Then carefully lift the lid ring at both handles. With the glass insert hanging in the lid ring, slowly lower the glass insert into the kettle until the lid ring rests on the rim of the kettle. Close the opening of the lid ring via the appropriate stainless steel lid.
6. Press the "Hot water/Cooking" button several times until "Yoghurt" is indicated at the lowest line of the display. The pre-defined ripening time is shown on the display.
7. If required, adjust the ripening time from 8 hours ("8h00m") to 12 hours ("12h00m") in steps of 30 minutes. For this, turn the "°C/Time" knob until the desired time setting is displayed.
8. Press the "Start/Stop" button to start the program. The appliance will heat the water within the kettle to 45^ and the timer starts. The appliance will keep the temperature for the set ripening time ("Steeping"). At the end of the set time, a beep sounds and the appliance switches back to standby mode.

Tip: To keep your work space dry, you should keep the provided stainless steel bowl or another sufficient coaster at hand, to place the glass insert on it.

1. Grasp the lid ring at both handles and lift the glass insert by the lid ring out of the kettle. Carefully place the glass insert on the stainless steel bowl or an appropriate coaster and lay down the lid ring. Now you can grasp the glass insert easily for taking out your yoghurt.

2. Leave your home-made yoghurt cool down. Then, carefully decant the liquid (whey).

Tip: You should not discard the whey that accumulated on the yoghurt. With some sugar and/or fruit juice to taste, it is a refreshing drink.

1. After usage, you should discard the water within the kettle to avoid excessive build-up of scale on the heating plate. Unplug the appliance.

WARMING BABY FOOD

The appliance provides a program for warming up baby food and meals for people, who are sick and in need of care. The program "Baby" will heat 150 ml to 170 ml milk or approx. 190 g mash in the glass insert. The water in the kettle is heated to 55°C. If you wish to warm up a larger amount of food, in most cases you can leave your food for a somewhat longer time within the appliance. However, for stirring you should keep a suitable plastic spoon at hand when warming up mash. Do not use any metal cooking utensils to avoid damage to the glass insert.

Note

The "Baby" program is adapted to refrigerated food with a start temperature of approx. 4-5°C. If your food is up to room temperature already, you should take out your food somewhat earlier.

⚠ WARNING: The "Baby" program only warms up food. Your food will not be cooked and thus not be sterilized in any way. At any stage of food preparation you should ensure to prevent harmful germs from getting into the food. Purchased ready-to-eat baby food will meet these essential requirements, if the glass has still been closed airtight directly before warming up.

Additionally, do not use wooden cooking utensils. Even after thorough cleaning, germs could still remain on the rough surface of wood, thus getting in your food. It is much better to use heat-resistant plastic cooking utensils with smooth surface. Always sterilize your cooking utensils, the glass lid, and the glass insert via boiling water directly before use.

1. Ensure that glass insert and glass lid are clean and undamaged. There may be no cracks and chipped edges. Sterilize the glass parts and the cooking utensils via hot water before filling in your food.
2. Fill approx. 1 litre of clear tap water into the kettle and place the kettle onto the power base.
3. Fill the food into the glass insert and close the glass insert via the glass lid.
4. Place the glass insert lid ring (large opening), onto the workspace and place the glass insert into the central opening of the lid ring.
5. Then lift the lid ring at both handles. With the glass insert hanging in the lid ring, slowly lower the glass insert into the kettle until the lid ring rests on the rim of the

kettle. Close the opening of the lid ring via the appropriate stainless steel lid.

1. Press the "Hot water/Cooking" button repeatedly until "Baby" is shown at the lowest line of the display. The pre-defined operating time of 2 12 minutes is indicated on the display ("2m30s"). There is no need for any further entry.
2. Press the "Start/Stop" button to start the program. When warming up mash, you should stir the food within the glass insert several times to get an even result. When the pre-set water temperature in the kettle (55°C) is reached, the warming up time ("Steeping") starts, displayed as a count-down. After 2½ minutes a signal sounds and the display shows "End".
3. Check the temperature of your food. If the food has not reached the desired temperature, just leave the glass insert within the kettle. For your assistance, after each 40 seconds, a beep will sound.

Tip: To keep your workspace dry, you should keep the provided stainless steel bowl or another sufficient coaster for placing the glass insert on it.

1. Grasp the lid ring at both handles and lift the lid ring including the glass insert out of the kettle. Carefully place the glass insert on the stainless steel bowl or coaster and lay down the lid ring. Now you can grasp the glass insert easily for taking out your food.

Important: Before feeding, always check the temperature of the food.

Note

The water within the kettle will stay warm for some time after heating. If you wish to keep your food warm, simply place the glass insert back into the kettle.

1. After usage, cancel the program by holding the "Start/Stop" button pressed for 3 seconds.
2. You should discard the water within the kettle to avoid excessive build-up of scale on the heating plate. Unplug the appliance.

RESETTING TO FACTORY SETTINGS

When making your individual changes to the pre-programmed settings of the "Custom" program, the appliance will keep your settings in memory—even after shut off and disconnecting the appliance from the mains power supply. However, you may wish to restore the pre-programmed factory settings. For this, proceed according to the following steps.

1. Cancel any running program, by holding the "Start/Stop" button pressed for 3 seconds. The appliance will be in standby mode then.
2. Simultaneously hold the buttons "°C/Time" and "Tea" pressed for 5 seconds. The appliance will beep for 3 seconds, and all indicators on the top and bottom line of the display will be illuminated. Thereafter, the factory settings will be restored.

SOLVING PROBLEMS

If any problems occur during operation, you will find the solution in the following table.

Problem Reason The Solution
The kettle is placed on the power base and the appliance is plugged in, but the display is dark.	If the appliance is idle for more than 5 minutes, the appliance will switch OFF completely to save energy.	Simply press any button or remove the kettle from the power base shortly to reactivate the display.
No response to your entries.	The desired entry is not possible with the currently selected program.	Select another program.
	A program is still running. With a program running, entries are blocked.	Cancel any running program (hold “Start/Stop” pressed for 3 seconds). Then try again.
	Malfunction has occurred. Unplug the appliance and leave the appliance cool down to room temperature. Then try again.
The power base is live, but all buttons are dark. A continuous signal sounds.	The overheat protection system has been triggered (see: ‘Self-Resetting Dry Boil Protection’).	Unplug the appliance, empty the kettle, and leave the kettle cool down for at least 30 minutes. Thereafter, fill the kettle with at least 0.5 litres of cold water and try again.
		Too much scale is covering the heating plate, causing overheating. De-scale the kettle (see: ‘De-scaling the Kettle’).
You cannot start the desired program.	The kettle is not placed on the power base correctly.The set temperature is equal or lower than the actual water temperature within the kettle.	Fill the kettle with at least 0.5 litres of water and place the kettle on the power base. Try to turn the kettle on the power base. Then try again.The set temperature must be higher (at least 5°C) than the actual temperature within the kettle to start a program. Wait until the kettle cooled down sufficiently or select a somewhat higher temperature.
You have programmed your own settings but your program is not kept in memory.	To avoid unintended changes to the programmed data, the appliance will only save the current settings, after it has been started with these values.	To save your program, start the program by pressing the “Start/Stop” button. Thereafter, if you do not wish to run the program, you may cancel operation immediately by holding the “Start/Stop” button pressed for 3 seconds.
	Only some programs keep your settings.Only the “Custom” program will save your own data and keep them even after shut off.	Select an appropriate program (see: ‘Properties of Your New Tea & More’).
The appliance does not keep to your selected cooking time.	After reaching the set temperature, with the tea programs and the “Custom” program, the appliance waits for you to press the “Start/Stop” button. If you don't do so, the program will be cancelled after 10 minutes.	Shortly press the “Start/Stop” button, when the set temperature is reached an the “Start/Stop” button is flashing. This will make the appliance to continue operation according to the set values.
The water has an unpleasant taste of plastic.	This may happen on new appliances or appliances that are used only rarely.	Prepare the appliance for usage as described in chapter ‘Before First Use’. If the problem persists, fill the kettle with 1.5 litres of water and add two teaspoons of soda. Bring the water to the boil. Then discard the water and clean the kettle thoroughly.
Water accumulates under the power base or runs down on the exterior of the kettle.	There is too much water in the kettle.	Immediately unplug the appliance. Then wipe dry the appliance completely. Always observe the maximum filling level when filling (see: ‘Technical Specifications’).
	You spilled some water when filling or moving the kettle.	Immediately unplug the appliance. Then wipe dry the appliance completely. Ensure not to spill water on the exterior of the kettle during filling. Always ensure to hold the kettle level when it is filled.
	The kettle is leaking. Immediately unplug the appliance and wipe dry the appliance completely. Then check the kettle for leakage. Do not use the appliance, if the kettle is leaking.
The temperature is set to 100°C, but the water is not boiling.	During the cooking time ("Stee-ping") the maximum temperature is limited to 90-95°C. With the keep warm function ("Warm"), the maximum temperature is limi-ted to 80°C.	This is normal. No action required.
The kettle does not shut off automa-tically when the water is boiling.	The lid is not closed. The temperatute control will only work correctly with the kettle closed via a complete lid set. Cover the kettle by the appropriate lid set.
	You are using the appliance at high altitude.	At high altitude, the ambient pressure is reduced, leading to a somewhat lower boiling tempera-ture. Thus, the temperature for automatic shut off (100°C) cannot be reached. Switch off the kettle manually.
The base gets unex-pectedly hot during operation.	The power cord has been wound partly around the cable storage during operation.	Always unwind the power cord completely before operation to avoid overheating.
	The power socket in the centre of the power base or the pins at the bottom of the kettle are polluted, damp, damaged or corroded.	Immediately unplug the appliance. Check the power connection at the bottom of the kettle and the power socket of the power base for moisture, discolouration, distortion or corrosion. Do not use the appliance again, if the pins are not smooth and clean. There is no use in trying to clean or repair the pins of the power connector as the power socket in the power base will be affected as well.
	The power cord is damaged.	Contact an authorised service centre for replace-ment.
"E1" is displayed. Alarm on overheating. Wait for the kettle to cool down for approx. 30 minutes. Then fill the kettle with at least 0.5 litres of water. Please, always check the water level in time.
“E5” is displayed. Overheat alarm of the “Yogurt” program.	Please ensure that the water temperature inside the kettle is below 70°C. Leave the kettle cool down.

CARE AND CLEANING

⚠ WARNING: Always ensure that all parts of the appliance are out of reach of young children. Always switch OFF (hold the "Start/Stop" button pressed until the signal sounds), unplug, and leave the appliance cool down, before cleaning the appliance.

Do not spill or pour any liquids on or in the power base or power cord. Do not place or immerse the power base, kettle or power cord in any liquids to avoid damage, risk of fire, and electric shock. Especially keep the power socket at the power base and the power connector in the bottom of the kettle always completely dry and clean. Do not attempt to clean the power socket or the power connector, to avoid damage.

Glass can easily break or crack. Always use special care while handling the glass parts (kettle, glass insert, and glass lid). Do not expose the glass parts to extreme temperature variations.

Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids (e.g. bleach, solving agents) for cleaning the appliance or any part of it, to avoid damage to the surfaces and seals. Do not use any hard or sharp-edged objects for cleaning (e.g. scoring pads, knives, scrapers). Do not use violence.

DO NOT clean the kettle, power base, or power cord in an automatic dishwasher!

Depending on the water hardness and the usage, the interior of the kettle gets coated with grey or sand-coloured scale or brown residues of tea. To keep the appliance always ready for use, and to avoid damage to the heating elements, you should remove these residues and de-scale the kettle in time (see: 'De-scaling the Kettle'). However, do not use any de-scaling solution not recommended in this booklet, to avoid damage to the heating plate, temperature sensor, and seals of the kettle.

Depending on the usage, you should clean the appliance and accessories always immediately after use, to avoid the build-up of stubborn residues.

CLEANING THE POWER BASE AND KETTLE

1. Always remove the kettle from the power base, unplug, and leave the appliance cool down to room temperature, before cleaning the appliance.

⚠️ CAUTION: Always keep the power socket in the middle of the power base and the power connector in the bottom of the kettle completely dry. Avoid spilling or dripping any liquid onto the base. Do not use any hard objects for cleaning the kettle to avoid damage to the seals.

1. If required, clean the interior of the kettle using a soft nylon brush or soft sponge. Then, rinse the interior of the kettle thoroughly with tap water. De-scale the kettle, if stubborn residues of scale cover the heating plate (see: 'De-scaling the Kettle').
2. Wipe the exterior of the kettle, power base, and power cord with a slightly damp cloth, removing any residues of splashes. Always ensure to keep the power socket completely dry. Do not spill any liquids onto the operating elements.
3. Thoroughly wipe dry all parts. Thereafter, leave the parts of the appliance dry naturally for approx. 30 minutes, where they are out of reach of young children.

CLEANING THE ACCESSORIES

⚠ WARNING: Glass insert and glass lid are manufactured of thin-walled glass and may crack easily, when handled carelessly. Please, use special care, when handling any of the glass parts to avoid damage and injuries caused by splinters and shards. Do not expose the glass parts to extreme temperature variations to avoid cracking.

You may clean the lid sets, glass insert and glass lid, tea filter, and stainless steel bowl in an automatic dishwasher.

⚠️ CAUTION: For cleaning the glass parts in the automatic dishwasher, always ensure that the glass parts will not touch any other dishes during operation of the dishwasher. Otherwise the rim of the glass could get cracked or chipped. Do not use the glass parts any more, if the glass is chipped, cracked or broken in any way, to avoid injuries due to splinters and shards.

1. Clean the lid sets (lid ring and assigned lid), the glass parts (glass insert and glass lid), tea filter, and stainless steel bowl in warm dishwater using a soft nylon brush or a soft sponge. Do NOT use any abrasive cleaners, abrasive cleaning pads, or hard or sharp-edged objects for cleaning to avoid damage to the surfaces.

2. Stubborn residues can be removed easily, after soaking the parts in warm dish-water for approx. 10 minutes and, thereafter, brushing with a soft nylon brush.

3. After cleaning, dry all parts thoroughly and leave dry naturally for approx. 12 hour, where they are out of reach of young children.

DESCALING THE KETTLE

For descaling you may use white vinegar.

⚠ WARNING: Do not breath-in any vapours escaping from descaling solutions to avoid injuries to your respiratory tracts. Always ensure good ventilation during descaling.

1. Fill the kettle with 12 litre of vinegar and add approx. 1 litre water up to the "Water MAX" filling level. Close the kettle using one of the lid sets. Simply leave the kettle stand for at least 1 hour.
2. To assist descaling with large amounts of scale: You may warm up the solution to the lowest possible temperature (50°C, "Custom" program), and cancel operation by holding the "Start/Stop" button pressed for 3 seconds as soon as the solution is heated and the signal sounds. For this ensure good ventilation, and keep the kettle closed via a lid set. Leave the solution cool down within the kettle for at least 1 hour.
3. Empty the kettle and rinse the interior of the kettle with clear tap water.
4. Then fill the kettle to the "Water MAX" filling level (1.5 litres) with clear tap water and bring the water to the boil ("Hot water" program). Thereafter, discard the water and rinse the kettle again.
5. Repeat the complete procedure, if there is still any scale left.

STORAGE

⚠ WARNING: Young children must be supervised that they do not play with the appliance or any part of it. When the appliance is not in use, always unplug the appliance. Always leave the appliance cool down, before cleaning or storing it. Do not leave the power base connected to the power supply, when not in use.

Do not hold the appliance by the power cord for moving the appliance to avoid damage. Remove the kettle from the power base for moving the appliance to prevent the kettle from falling down. Always handle the glass parts (kettle, glass insert, glass lid) with special care to avoid damage. The power cord may never be knotted, twisted, pulled, strained or squeezed. Do not let the plug or power cord hang down.

Do not place any hard or heavy objects on or in the appliance or any part of it. Do not use any parts or accessories of the appliance for any other appliance or any other purpose than described in this booklet.

Please store the appliance in a frost free, clean and dry place where it is out of reach of young children and is protected against excessive load (e.g. mechanical or electric shock, heat, direct sunlight).

1. Clean the appliance before storing (see: 'Care and Cleaning').
2. For storage, you may wind the power cord around the cord storage at the bottom of the power base.
3. Place the power base on a clean, stable, and level surface, where the appliance cannot fall down. To protect the power connector of the power base from dust and damage, place the kettle onto the power base.
4. We recommend placing the glass insert into the kettle using the appropriate lid set. This way, the glass insert is protected against damage. It is good advice to store the other parts and accessories of the appliance with the appliance too.

NOTES FOR DISPOSAL

Dispose of the appliance and packaging must be effected in accordance with the corresponding local regulations and requirements for electrical appliances and packaging. Please contact your local disposal company.

Do not dispose of electrical appliances as unsorted municipal waste, use separate collection facilities. Contact your local government for information regarding the collection systems available. If electrical appliances are disposed of in landfills, dumps, or refuse incineration, hazardous substances can leak into the groundwater or can be emitted into air, thus getting into the food chain, and damaging your health and well-being as well as poisoning flora and fauna. When replacing old appliances with new once, the vendor is legally obligated to take back your old appliance for disposal at least for free of charge.
