How to descale the Philips HD7310 tea maker?

Use a descaling agent based on citric acid or diluted white vinegar. Fill the jug with the solution, bring to a boil, let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with clean water.

What is the capacity of the jug?

The jug has a capacity of 1.5 liters, ideal for making several cups of tea at once.

Can I adjust the brewing temperature?

Yes, you can select a temperature between 80 °C and 100 °C in 5 °C increments, depending on the type of tea.

Is the keep-warm function automatic?

Optimal brewing of different teas

Different teas require different brewing methods. Especially the water temperature and steeping time are very important for a good end result. For example, some green teas should be prepared at 80^ C, as they would get a bitter taste if prepared with boiling ( 100^ C) water. Tea packages often mention the optimal brewing instructions.

This tea maker helps to you get all the goodness out of each tea and herbal tea as it enables you to use the ideal combination of water temperature and steeping time.

With this tea maker, you can prepare tea in two ways:

1 With one of the four quick-select buttons. These buttons are preprogrammed with the ideal water temperature and steeping time for the main types of tea: black tea (1), green tea (2), fruit and herbal tea (3) and rooibos (4) (Fig. 1).
2 Manually with the personal settings button. When you want to brew a type of tea that you cannot choose with the quick-select buttons or if you prefer different settings than the preprogrammed settings, you can use the personal settings button. When you use this button, you can adjust both the water temperature and steeping time yourself with the increase and decrease buttons. (Fig. 2)

The tea brewing process consists of two phases: heating and steeping. After both phases, the appliance produces a bell sound. After the first bell sound (which indicates that the water has reached the right temperature), you can put the filter with the tea leaves in the teapot. Then the light ring on the base lights up segment by segment to indicate the progression of the steeping time. After the second bell sound, you have to remove the filter. Then your tea is ready for drinking.

Read this user manual carefully before you use the appliance and save it for future reference.

Danger

- Do not immerse the teapot or the base in water or any other liquid.

Warning

- Check if the voltage indicated on the base corresponds to the local mains voltage before you connect the base.

- Do not use the appliance if the plug, the mains cord, the base or the teapot is damaged.

- If the mains cord is damaged, you must have it replaced by Philips, a service centre authorised by Philips or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

- Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

- Keep the mains cord out of the reach of children. Do not let the mains cord hang over the edge of the table or worktop on which the appliance stands. Excess cord can be stored in the base of the appliance.

- Keep the mains cord, the base and the teapot away from hot surfaces.

- Do not place the appliance on an enclosed surface, as this could cause water to accumulate under the appliance, resulting in a hazardous situation.

- Hot water and hot tea can cause serious burns. Be careful when the teapot contains hot water.

- Always make sure the lid is placed on the teapot properly before it starts heating the water.

- Do not remove the lid while the water is heating up or boiling. Be careful when you remove the lid immediately after the water has heated up or boiled: the steam that comes out of the teapot is very hot.

- Never fill the teapot beyond the MAX indication. If the teapot has been overfilled, boiling water may be ejected from the spout and cause scalding.

- Do not touch the hot surfaces of the teapot (lid and filter) when the water or tea inside the teapot is hot.

- Lift and carry the teapot by its handle. Be very careful when you move the teapot while it contains hot liquid and when you pour out the hot liquid. Hot liquid and steam could cause scalding.

- Only use the teapot in combination with the original base provided.

- Do not put the teapot in the fridge, e.g. to make iced tea. This could damage the teapot.

- Do not clean the teapot, the lid, the base and the filter holder in the dishwasher.

- Do not try to tighten/loosen the screws in the handle. The screws are fixed in the product. If you turn them, you may damage the appliance.

Caution

• Remove and safely discard any packaging materials and promotional labels before you use the appliance for the first time.
• Only connect the appliance to an earthed wall socket.
• This appliance can draw up to 1650W from the power supply in your home. Make sure that the electrical system in your home and the circuit to which the appliance is connected can cope with this level of power consumption. Do not let too many other appliances draw power from the same circuit while this appliance is operating.
• It is recommended not to use the appliance in combination with an extension cord or power strip.

- Always place the base and the teapot on a dry, flat and stable surface. Do not put them on an inclined surface, in a sink or on a draining board.

- Make sure that the underside of the teapot stays dry when you fill it. Hold the teapot under the tap before you open the tap.

- Do not move the appliance while it is switched on.

- Always make sure that the lid is on the teapot and that it is placed in such a way that steam from the vent hole is directed away from the handle of the teapot and your hand. This prevents hot steam from scalding your hands when you pour out the hot tea.

- This appliance is only intended for heating and boiling water and preparing tea. Do not use it to heat up other liquids or food.

- Do not operate the appliance without water. Never fill the teapot below the MIN indication to prevent it from boiling dry.

- Do not put milk, sugar or honey in the teapot.

- Never put tea leaves directly in the teapot. Always use the filter to put the tea leaves in the teapot

- This appliance is intended for normal household use only. It is not intended for use in environments such as staff kitchens of shops, offices, farms or other work environments. Nor is it intended to be used by clients in hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts and other residential environments.

- Do not use the appliance outdoors or in moving vehicles or boats.

- Depending on the hardness of the water in your area, small spots may appear in the teapot. This phenomenon is the result of scale build-up on the inside of the teapot over time. The harder the water, the faster scale builds up. Scale can occur in different colours. Although scale is harmless, too much scale can influence the performance of the appliance. Descale the appliance regularly by following the instructions in chapter 'Descaling'.

- The filter has an embedded magnet in its bottom surface. Keep the filter away from bank cards, credit cards, audio tapes, video tapes, computer monitors, TV screens, sharp metal objects etc.

- Never use scouring pads, abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids such as petrol or acetone to clean the appliance.

Boil-dry protection

This appliance is equipped with boil-dry protection. The boil-dry protection automatically switches off the appliance if it is accidentally switched on when there is no water or not enough water in it. If this happens, the appliance produces an alarm sound and the light ring flashes. Lift the appliance from its base and fill it with cold tap water to reset boil-dry protection. The appliance is now ready for use again.

Electromagnetic fields (EMF)

This Philips appliance complies with all standards regarding electromagnetic fields (EMF). If handled properly and according to the instructions in this user manual, the appliance is safe to use based on scientific evidence available today.

Before first use

1 Remove all packaging materials and foils from the teapot and the base.
2 Place the base on a dry, flat and stable surface.

Note: Do not place the base near a hot stove.

3 Unwind the cord from the reel in the base until it has the desired length. Wedge the cord into the slot in the base. (Fig. 4)
4 Rinse the inside of the teapot with hot water. If you want, you can use a soft brush and some washing-up liquid (Fig. 5).

Do not immerse the teapot in water. Make sure the connector on the underside of the teapot stays dry.

5 Rinse the filter and filter holder with hot water. If you want, you can use a soft brush and some washing-up liquid (Fig. 6).

Note: Only the filter is dishwasher-proof.

6 Rinse the lid (Fig. 7).

Using the appliance

1 Remove the lid of the teapot (Fig. 8).
2 Remove the filter from the teapot.
3 Fill the teapot with the desired amount of cold water. Make sure the water level is between the MIN indication (250ml) and the MAX indication (700ml). (Fig. 9)

Note: Make sure that the underside of the teapot stays dry when you fill it. Hold the teapot under the tap before you open the tap.

Note: Do not put milk, sugar or honey in the teapot.

4 Place the teapot on the base and put the lid on the teapot. Do not put the filter in the teapot yet (Fig. 10).
5 Put the mains plug in an earthed wall socket (Fig. 11).
6 Press the on/off button to switch on the appliance (Fig. 12).

The quick-select buttons and the personal settings button light up.

Note: If the teapot is not on the base, the light ring lights up instead of the buttons.

Note: If you have already placed the filter in the teapot, the 'remove filter' light lights up to indicate that you have to remove the filter from the teapot because it should not be in the teapot yet.

7 Decide what type of tea you want to brew.

- With one of the four quick-select buttons, which are preprogrammed with the ideal water temperature and steeping time, you can brew black tea (1), green tea (2), fruit and herbal tea (3) or rooibos tea (4) (Fig. 1).

- With the personal settings button you can brew a type of tea that you cannot choose with the quick-select buttons or you can brew tea at different settings than the preprogrammed settings. When you use this button, you can adjust both the water temperature and steeping time yourself with the increase and decrease buttons (Fig. 2).

8 Gently touch the button for the type of tea you want to brew. If you use the personal settings button, see section 'Using the personal settings button' in this chapter for additional steps (Fig. 13).
The water is heated to the preprogrammed temperature for the type of tea selected.

Note: If the buttons light up but cannot be operated, make sure that the surface of the base is dry.

Note: If you remove the teapot from the base while the water is being heated, the heating process is aborted. To restart the heating process, put the teapot back onto the base and press the desired button again.

9 Put tea leaves in the filter. The amount of tea leaves you use determines the strength of the tea (Fig. 14).

Never put tea leaves directly in the teapot. Always use the filter to put the tea leaves in the teapot.

Note: Most tea packages describe how much tea you should use. You can always adjust the amount to your own preference.

Note: You can also use the appliance in combination with teabags and fresh herbal teas such as mint leaves. Always put the teabag or tea leaves in the filter.

10 When you hear the bell sound, the water has reached the right temperature. (Fig. 15)
If you do not put the filter in the teapot right after the bell sound, the appliance keeps the water hot for 10 minutes. After 3, 6 and 9 minutes, the appliance repeats the bell sound as a reminder. If you do not put the filter in the teapot within these 10 minutes, the appliance switches off automatically.
11 Remove the lid and put the filter in the teapot (Fig. 16).

Wait a few seconds after the bell sound before you remove the lid and be careful: the steam that comes out of the teapot is very hot.

The appliance detects the presence of the filter and automatically starts the steeping process (you do not have to press any button after you have placed the filter). The steeping time depends on the quick-select button you have pressed or the setting you have set with the personal settings button.
12 Put the lid back onto the teapot. First insert the lid positioning lip into the lid positioning hole in the back of the filter (1). Then lower the front part of the lid onto the teapot (Fig. 17).

The light ring indicates how much of the steeping time has passed by lighting up segment by segment. When the tea is ready, the whole light ring flashes and you hear the bell sound again.

To remind you to remove the filter on time, the bell sound is repeated after 30 seconds, 1 minute and 2 minutes. If you do not remove the filter from the teapot or the teapot from the base within 5 minutes, the appliance switches off automatically.

Note: If you want, you can remove the teapot from the base after you have inserted the filter. In this case, the light ring also keeps on tracking the steeping time. When the tea is ready, you hear the bell sound and the appliance switches off automatically right away.

13 Remove the filter from the teapot and put it on the filter holder to minimise spillage (Fig. 18).

When you remove the filter from the teapot or the teapot from the base after the bell sound, the appliance switches off automatically.
14 The tea is now ready. Leave the lid on the teapot, with the positioning lip pointing to the back, when you pour out the tea (Fig. 19).

Note: The base is not a hotplate and does not keep the tea warm during or after steeping, as this would cause the tea to become stronger and turn bitter. However, the teapot is double-walled to keep the tea warm.

Note: Be careful when you move the teapot while it contains hot tea.

Note: Do not put milk, sugar or honey in the teapot (Fig. 20).

15 After use, clean the filter and rinse the inside of the teapot to prevent tea stains (see chapter 'Cleaning', section 'Cleaning the teapot and the filter after every use').

Note: Be careful when you clean parts that are still hot.

Note: Do not leave tea in the teapot overnight to prevent excessive staining.

Using the personal settings button

- With the personal settings button you can set the ideal combination of water temperature (between 60^ C and 100^ C) and steeping time (between 1 and 10 minutes) for the type of tea you want to make. (Fig. 2)

1 Follow steps 1-7 above.
2 Press the personal settings button (Fig. 21).

The display lights up and shows the temperature.

3 Adjust the temperature to your own preference with the increase or decrease buttons (Fig. 22).

The display shows the adjusted temperature.

4 Press the personal settings button to confirm the temperature. (Fig. 23)

The display switches to the steeping time.

5 Adjust the steeping time to your own preference with the increase or decrease buttons. (Fig. 24)

The display shows the adjusted steeping time.

6 Press the personal settings button to confirm the steeping time. (Fig. 25)

Note: The adjusted settings are stored in the memory. The next time you use the personal settings button, these are the initial settings that you see on the display.

7 Continue with steps 9-14 above.

Tips

- Tea packages often mention the optimal brewing instructions (water temperature and steeping time).

- Tea leaves are best stored in an airtight container in a dark and dry place.

- Taste is very personal and you may need to experiment with the amount of tea leaves to obtain the tea strength you prefer. Try to increase or decrease the strength of the tea by increasing or decreasing the amount of tea leaves you put in the filter. It is not recommended to change the strength by adjusting the steeping time mentioned on the tea package.

- Some teas have a low density and do not easily sink when they come into contact with heated water. To improve immersion of the tea leaves, you could briefly rinse the leaves in the filter with hot tap water before you put the filter in the teapot.

• You can take the teapot from the base during steeping, for instance to let the tea steep in the living room. When you do this, the light ring on the base continues to show the progress of the steeping process. When the tea is ready, the base produces a bell sound and switches off automatically. You can then use the filter holder to place the wet filter on.
• The thin film that sometimes develops on top of the tea is formed by natural oils from the tea leaves in combination with natural minerals in the water. You can prevent this layer from developing by using bottled water or a water softener or filter.
• if you live in a hard water area, you could use a water softener or water filter to filter the water before you make tea, as this reduces the hardness of the water. For information about the type of water in your area, contact your local water board.
• Used tea leaves can be used to fertilise garden plants and to improve the condition of the soil.
• Put a sieve in the draining hole of your sink when you rinse the filter. This helps prevent tea leaves from clogging up the sink.
• The sooner you rinse the teapot and the filter after use, the less likely it is that tea stains build up inside the teapot and on the filter.

Cleaning

Never immerse the teapot or its base in water (Fig. 26).

Do not clean the teapot, the lid, the base and the filter holder in the dishwasher. Only the filter can be cleaned in the dishwasher (Fig. 27)

Never use scouring pads, abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids such as petrol or acetone to clean the appliance.

Note: Be careful when you clean parts that are still hot.

Cleaning the teapot and the filter after every use

Clean the teapot and the filter after every use to prevent tea stains. Tea stains can affect the taste of the next pot of tea you prepare. Do not leave tea in the teapot overnight to prevent excessive staining.

1 Let the teapot, the lid and the filter cool down.
2 Rinse the inside of the teapot and the lid with hot water. Hold the teapot under the tap before you open the tap. (Fig. 5)

Do not immerse the teapot in water and do not place the teapot on a wet surface (i.e. in the sink). Make sure the connector on the underside of the teapot stays dry.

Note: Be careful, the inside of the teapot stays hot longer than the outside. Make sure the inside has cooled down before you clean it.

Note: if you want to clean the inside of the teapot thoroughly, you can also clean it with a soft brush and some washing-up liquid.

3 Let the teapot dry.
4 Empty the filter into a dustbin (Fig. 28).
5 Rinse the filter under the tap. Turn the filter a few times to remove all tea leaves (Fig. 29).

Note: If the holes in the filter are clogged or if you want to clean the filter thoroughly, you can also clean it with a soft brush and some washing-up liquid or in the dishwasher. Be careful not to damage the filter with the brush.

6 Rinse the filter holder under the tap (Fig. 30).

Note: If you want to clean the filter holder thoroughly, you can also clean it with a soft brush and some washing-up liquid. Do not clean the filter holder in the dishwasher.

7 Let the filter and filter holder dry (Fig. 31).
8 When all parts are dry, the appliance is ready for use again.

Removing tea stains

During use, tea stains may build up on the base, on the inside and outside of the teapot and on the filter. Using lemon juice is a very effective way to remove tea stains.

1 Let the teapot cool down and remove it from the base.
2 Unplug the base (Fig. 32).
3 Put some fresh or concentrated lemon juice on a cloth moistened with water (Fig. 33).
4 Wipe the base and the outside of the teapot with the cloth moistened with water and lemon juice (Fig. 34).

Do not let the moist cloth come into contact with the connectors (on the base and on the underside of the teapot) and the mains plug.

Note: To clean the connection points of the handle and the spout, you can put some lemon juice on a cotton bud.

5 Wipe the filter with the cloth moistened with water and lemon juice (Fig. 35).

Note: If the filter is very dirty, you can also put it in a bowl filled with 50% water and 50% lemon juice and let the filter soak for a while (Fig. 36).

6 Wipe the inside of the teapot with the cloth moistened with water and lemon juice. You can also pour some lemon juice into the teapot and then use a soft brush to remove the tea stains (Fig. 37).

Note: Be careful, the inside of the teapot stays hot longer than the outside. Make sure the inside has cooled down before you clean it.

7 Rinse and wring the cloth to remove the lemon juice from it. Then wipe the outside of the teapot and the base once more with the moist cloth to remove lemon residues (Fig. 34).
8 Rinse the inside of the teapot under the tap to remove lemon residues (Fig. 5).
9 Rinse the filter under the tap to remove lemon residues (Fig. 29).
10 When the base and the outside of the teapot are dry, the appliance is ready for use again.

Descaling

After some time, scale builds up inside the teapot. Scale is harmless to your health, but it may affect the taste of the tea. We therefore advise you to descale the appliance at least every 3 months. Regular descaling removes scale and also prolongs the life of the teapot.

The amount of scale that develops inside the teapot depends on several factors, such as the hardness of the water you use and the types of tea you brew. Descale the teapot as soon as you see any scale inside or notice that the tea tastes differently.

Descaling with a citric-acid based descaler

Use a liquid or powder descaler based on citric acid to descale the appliance. Philips has developed a citric acid-based descaler (HD7012, HD7011, HD7006) for SENSEO ^® machines, which is also very suitable for this appliance. Note: Do not use vinegar or an acetic acid-based descaler, as this could have a negative effect on the taste of the tea.

1 Put the citric acid-based descaler in the teapot (Fig. 38).

Note: If you use the citric acid-based descaler developed for SENSEO ^® machines, use one sachet.

Note: If you use another type of citric acid-based descaler than the citric acid-based descaler for SENSEO ^® machines, follow the instructions on the package of the descaler and adjust this to the amount of water in the teapot (700ml).

2 Add lukewarm water to the teapot up to the MAX indication (700ml) (Fig. 9).

3 Stir until the citric acid-based descaler is largely dissolved in the water or properly mixed with the water (Fig. 39).

Use a wooden or plastic spatula to stir the solution in the teapot. Do not use metal, sharp or abrasive kitchen utensils.

4 Put the lid on the teapot (Fig. 40).
5 Put the mains plug in an earthed wall socket (Fig. 11).
6 Press the on/off button to switch on the appliance (Fig. 41).

The quick-select buttons and the personal settings button light up.

7 Press the black tea button and the rooibos button at the same time to start the 30-minute descaling program (Fig. 42).

Note: If you remove the teapot from the base during the descaling program, the descaling process is aborted. To restart the descaling process, put the teapot back onto the base and press the black tea button and the rooibos button at the same time again.

During the descaling program, the appliance automatically heats up the water and keeps track of the descaling time. The segments of the light ring light up one by one to show how much of the 30-minute descaling program has passed. When the descaling program is finished, the whole light ring flashes and you hear a bell sound (Fig. 43).

Note: If you do not remove the teapot from the base within 5 minutes after the bell sound, the appliance switches off automatically.

8 When the descaling program is finished, pour the descaling liquid into the sink. (Fig. 44)
9 Repeat the descaling procedure as often as necessary to remove all scale from the teapot.

Note: Each descaling mixture can be used only once. After use, the descaling mixture is no longer active.

10 Rinse the teapot (including the spout) with fresh water at least 4 times (Fig. 45).
11 Rinse the lid (Fig. 7).

Storage

1 Switch off and unplug the appliance.
2 To store the mains cord, wind it round the reel in the base. Wedge the cord into the slot in the base (Fig. 46).
3 Store the appliance in a safe, dry place.

This chapter summarises the most common problems you could encounter with the appliance. If you are unable to solve the problem with the information below, contact the Consumer Care Centre in your country.

Problem Solution

The appliance does not work.	Make sure you have put the mains plug in the wall socket and pressed the on/off button. If the appliance does not switch on, perhaps a fuse in the electrical system of your home has blown. This may happen if the connector on the underside of the teapot or on the base is wet or if too much power is drawn from the circuit to which the appliance is connected. Make sure that you do not let too many other appliances draw power from the circuit to which the appliance is connected while this appliance is operating.
	Make sure that the surface of the base is dry and the teapot is placed on the base before you press one of the quick-select buttons or the personal settings button.
	Do not place the filter in the teapot before the water in the teapot has heated up. Otherwise the ‘remove filter’ light on the display goes on and the appliance does not start heating up. Wait until you hear the bell sound before you put the filter in the teapot.
	Make sure you have filled the teapot with water above the MIN indication, otherwise the boil-dry protection is activated and the appliance switches off automatically. If this happens, the appliance produces an alarm sound and the light ring flashes. To reset the boil-dry protection, lift the appliance from its base and fill it with cold tap water to reset boil-dry protection. The appliance is now ready for use again.
	If the above solutions do not work, unplug the appliance from the mains to reset it.

Problem Solution

The ‘remove filter’ light goes on.	Do not place the filter in the teapot before the water in the teapot has heated up. Otherwise the ‘remove filter’ light on the display lights up and the appliance does not start heating up. Wait until you hear the bell sound before you put the filter in the teapot.
When I switch on the appliance, the green tea button does not light up and I cannot select the lower temperature setting with the manual select button.	If you put hot instead of cold water in the teapot, it is possible that the green tea button does not light up and cannot be operated. In addition, some of the lower temperature settings of the personal settings button may be unavailable. Always fill the teapot with cold water.
I do not hear the bell sound right after the water has heated up.	When you brew a type of tea that requires a water temperature below 100°C, the appliance always heats up the water in at least two steps (with an interruption of a few seconds between the steps) to make sure the water temperature is accurate. Always wait until you hear the bell sound before you put the filter with tea leaves in the teapot.
The appliance switches off before I have inserted the filter.	If you do not put the filter in the teapot within 10 minutes after the first bell sound, the appliance switches off automatically. To reheat the water, switch on the appliance again and then press one of the quick-select buttons or the personal settings button
When the steeping time has elapsed, the bell sound is repeated a number of times.	When you do not take the teapot from the base or remove the filter from the teapot after the bell sound, the bell sound is repeated after 0.5, 1 and 2 minutes to remind you to remove the filter from the teapot. If you do not want the bell sound to be repeated, switch off the appliance.
	You can remove the teapot from the base after you hear the bell sound for the first time after steeping. There is no need to leave the teapot on the base longer, as the base is not a hotplate and does not actively keep the teapot hot. Instead, the teapot is double-walled to keep the tea warm.
After heating, the water in the teapot turns cloudy.	If you live in a hard water area, this is normal. In this case, regular descaling is very important (see chapter ‘Descaling’).
There is a thin film on top of my tea.	If you live in a hard water area, this may happen. To reduce this problem, you can use bottled water or a water softener or filter.
The teapot is dirty. After some time, scale builds up on the inside of the teapot. Scale is harmless to your health, but it may affect the taste of the tea. We advise you to descale the appliance at least every 3 months. Regular descaling removes scale and also prolongs the life of the teapot. See chapter ‘Descaling’.

Problem Solution

	During use, tea stains may build up on the base, on the filter and on the inside and outside of the teapot. Rinsing and cleaning the teapot and filter after every use minimises the build-up of tea stains. A very effective way to remove tea stains from the teapot, filter and base is to use lemon juice. For the connection points of the spout and handle, you can use a cotton bud. For more information, see chapter ‘Cleaning’, section ‘Removing tea stains’.
The tea is not strong enough/too strong.	Taste is very personal and you may need to experiment with the amount of tea leaves to obtain the tea strength you prefer. Try to increase or decrease the strength of the tea by increasing or decreasing the amount of tea leaves you put in the filter. It is not recommended to change the strength by adjusting the steeping time mentioned on the tea package.
I cannot adjust the settings of the quick-select buttons.	The brewing settings of the quick-select buttons have been selected by tea experts and cannot be adjusted. If you want to choose your own settings (temperature and brewing time), you can use the personal settings button.
I do not know what types of tea I can prepare in the appliance.	This tea maker has been specially developed for the preparation of loose tea leaves, but can also be used in combination with tea bags and fresh herbal tea (such as mint leaves). Make sure you always put the tea leaves in the filter (if you use fresh mint leaves, always pull them off the stems before you put them in the filter). You cannot make instant tea with this appliance..
The base does not keep the teapot warm.	The base does not have an active keep-warm function, as actively keeping the tea warm could cause the tea to become stronger and turn bitter. However, the teapot is double-walled to keep tea warm. Do not put the teapot on a teapot warmer, as this causes damage to the teapot.
The teapot does not always boil the water.	Whether or not the tea maker boils the water depends on the type of tea you are brewing. Different teas require different brewing temperatures. For instance, green tea is brewed at 80°C.
My green tea gets cold quickly.	The double-walled teapot is designed to keep tea warm. However, because green tea is brewed at 80°C, it gets cold more quickly than other teas. Try preheating the teacups with warm water before you use them. You can also use cups that keep the tea hot longer, such as double-walled cups or cups with a very thin wall.
