How to adjust the ring volume on the Switel TF550?

Press the Volume button located on the side of the handset to adjust the ring volume (high, medium, low, off).

How to save a number in the phonebook?

Press Phonebook, then Store. Enter the number (max 16 digits) and name (max 12 letters). Confirm with OK.

What to do if my phone does not ring?

Check that the ringer is not turned off (press Volume). Ensure the mains adapter is plugged in and the backup batteries are working.

How to use the speakerphone (hands-free) function?

During a call, press the Hands-free button to activate the speakerphone. Hang up the handset to continue in hands-free mode.

Why does the display show 'Low battery'?

This means the backup batteries are low. Replace the two AAA batteries. The device operates normally on mains power.

How to check missed calls?

The display shows the number of missed calls. Press List to view them. To erase, press and hold Erase.

Can I use the Switel TF550 with an internet box?

Yes, it is compatible with boxes that have a telephone port (RJ11). Plug it directly into the 'Tel' jack on the box.

How to lock the keypad to prevent accidental calls?

Press and hold the Lock button (padlock symbol) for 3 seconds. An icon appears on the display. Repeat to unlock.

What to do if the handset has no sound?

Check that the handset cable is properly connected. Test with another handset if possible. If the problem persists, contact customer service.

How to reset the phone to factory settings?

Unplug the mains adapter and remove the batteries. Wait 30 seconds, then reconnect. Settings will return to default values.

CONNECTION

1. Connect the curly cord to the handset and to the socket marked on the side of the telephone.
2. Connect the telephone line cord of telephone on the underside of the telephone, and then to a network wall socket.
3. Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
4. Mount the included desk stand for better angle of display and phone.

Batteries

4x AA alkaline batteries are needed for the display operation. When is displayed, replace all 4 batteries. Use only good quality batteries.

1. Unplug the telephone cord and remove the battery cover.

2. Insert the batteries (4 x AA) ensuring that the correct battery polarity is observed.

3. Replace the battery cover and connect the telephone cord.

BASIC SETTINGS

The set up menu is opened directly after the telephone was plugged into the mains. The phone will return to standby mode after 60 seconds of inactivity or when pressing "phonebook". Confirm with OK and the next setting is displayed. Scroll with △ Access the setup menu at any time with ≡

1. Select desired contrast setting (LCD CONTRAST, 2=normal) using △▽ Press OK.

2. Select desired hour (00-23) using Press OK.

4. Flash time, select desired timer using press OK.
5. NEW CALL IND. Is displayed, press OK, Enable/disable the LED indicator for new calls. Select ON/OFF, and confirm with OK.
6. SERVICE ACCESS is displayed, press OK. Use to select the access number, Press OK, Enter the name for the service, Press OK

Changing the clock, language or contrast If you wish to change the settings for time or language etc. later on, repeat steps as above.

Amplification & Receiver volume control

The receiver volume can be boosted up to +40dB max during a conversation. Press the +40dB button, and the Boost LED will light.

You can increase the handset volume by turning the volume control wheel 2 (located under the handset) to the listening level.

You can turn OFF the BOOST by pressing the RED +40dB button (12) at any time during your conversation, the BOOST LED will turn off and the volume will return to normal level. After the call when you replace the handset to the cradle, the boost volume will be reset to normal automatically.

Note: If you do not need this additional amplification you do not need to press the RED +40dB boost Button.

Warning: Setting your earpiece volume too high can damage your hearing!!!

The display

In standby mode the date and time is indicated on the display, the total number of calls that have been stored in the Caller ID memory, and the number of new calls.

Timer

During a call the display shows a call timer, indicating the duration of the call. The timer is a simple way to help you keep track of how long the call lasts.

MAKING A CALL

Normal call

1. Lift the handset.
2. Enter the phone number.

Pre dial

Pre dial allows you to enter and change a phone number before it is dialled.

1. Enter the phone number. Delete with ✉
2. Lift the handset to dial.

Re dial

Re dial allows you to call the last dialled phone numbers.

• Lift the handset and press to dial the most recently dialled phone number.
• Repeatedly press 📄 scroll through the dialled numbers. Lift the handset to dial the phone number.

Handsfree/speakerphone

It is only possible for one person at a time to talk in handsfree mode. Avoid loud background noises, e.g. music, as this interferes with the handsfree function.

1. Press to activate the handsfree function.
2. Enter the phone number.
3. Press to end the call.

Tip: You can switch between handset and handsfree mode during a call, press or lift the handset.

Service access dial

Shortcut keys to operator service access numbers.

1. Press and hold or 1 or 2 until the service access number is displayed.
2. Lift the handset, press OK or to dial.

Ringer

The ringer volume may be adjusted using the switch located on the switch on the side of the phone. Switch the button to OFF/LOW/HI to adjust the ringer.

Tone control

The tone may be adjusted using the switch located on the side of the phone.

Speaker Volume

The speaker volume may be adjusted using the switch located on the side of the phone.

Speed dial memory

The telephone has 6 one touch memories and 10 two couch memories. When a number has been

saved in these, you only need to press one or two buttons to make a call. The one touch numbers are M1-M3 and 3 photo buttons, the two touch number are the keys 0-9. A photo or symbol can be placed under the transparent cover on the 3 photo buttons. So it's easy to see who you are calling.

Direct call keys

You can use the three photo keys (5) or the keys M1, M2 and M3 (6) as speed dials.

Storing speed dial numbers

1. Press and hold until STORE NUMBER is displayed.
2. Enter the phone number. Press ≡
3. Enter the name. Press STORAGE PLACE? is displayed.
4. Select one of the photo keys or M1, M2 or M3 by pressing the corresponding key. SAVED is displayed

Speed dial

1. Press the phot key or speed dialing key M1, M2 or M3. The stored phone number is displayed.
2. Lift the handset, press OK or 📋 to dial.

Storing two touch memories

1. Press and hold STORE NUMBER is displayed.
2. Enter the phone number. Press ≡
3. Enter the name. Press LOCATION? is displayed.
4. Select 0-9 by pressing the corresponding key. SAVE is displayed

Two touch dialling

1. Lift the handset.
2. Press -9 and select relevant memory location 0-9.

Phone Book

The phonebook will store 50 sets of names and phone numbers. Contacts in the phonebook are arranged alphabetically. Each name can be up to 16 characters in length, and phone numbers can be up to 22 digits in length.

If you subscribe to a caller ID service, the name/number of the caller will be shown when you receive an incoming call (for those numbers stored in the phonebook or the memories).

Note! To access the phonebook features make sure that 📄 is displayed.

MESSAGE WAITING / - indicating a waiting message. Message indication can be erased manually with ✉

Maintenance

Clean the surface of the housing with a soft, fluff-free cloth. Do not use any cleaning agents or solvents.

Guarantee

SWITEL equipment is produced and tested according to the latest production methods. The implementation of carefully chosen materials and highly developed technologies ensure trouble-free functioning and a long service life. The terms of guarantee do not apply when a device malfunction was caused by the mobile telecommunications network operator/provider. The terms of guarantee do not apply to the batteries or power packs used in the products. The period of guarantee is 24 months from the date of purchase. All deficiencies related to material or manufacturing errors within the period of guarantee will be redressed free of charge.
