How to clean the grease filters of the Beko BCL 90 X hood?

It is recommended to wash the grease filters every 2 months maximum. Wash them by hand with a neutral non-abrasive liquid detergent or in the dishwasher at low temperature on a short cycle. Make sure the filters are completely dry before putting them back in place.

How to reset the filter saturation indicator?

After 30 hours of operation, the indicator lights up. To reset it, turn off the hood, then press and hold the turbine speed button for 5 seconds. The indicator goes off and the counter resets to zero.

What to do if the remote control no longer works?

You can use the buttons located inside the hood (Fig. 9-11 of the manual). If the remote control is discharged, replace the batteries. In case of persistent malfunction, contact the after-sales service.

What safety distance between the hood and a cooking hob?

The minimum distance between the lowest point of the hood and an electric, gas or induction hob must be at least 100 cm. Respect this distance to ensure safety and efficiency.

How to activate the Air clean function?

With the hood off, press and hold the on/off button for 5 seconds. The hood starts at speed 1 for 10 minutes, then stops. It will restart automatically every 4 hours for 10 minutes.

How to replace the halogen lamps?

Press on the lamp glass to open the small door. Remove the old lamp and replace it with a lamp of the same type. Avoid touching the lamp with bare hands. For LED lamps, call a specialized technician.

Can I use the hood in recirculation (filtering) mode?

Yes, the hood can operate in filtering mode with air recirculation into the room (Fig. 1A). You must install an optional active charcoal filter for this mode.

How to set the delayed shut-off timer?

Press the delayed shut-off button: if the turbine is off, it starts at low speed and stops after 5 minutes. If it is already running, it switches to low speed then stops after 5 minutes.

What types of descalers to use for external cleaning?

Use a damp cloth with denatured alcohol or a neutral non-abrasive liquid detergent. Do not use abrasive or corrosive products that could damage the stainless steel surface.

Is the BCL 90 X hood compatible with gas cookers?

Yes, but respect the minimum distance of 100 cm between the hood and the cooking surface. Additionally, ensure sufficient ventilation of the room if you simultaneously use the hood in extraction mode with combustion appliances.

Carefully read the following important information regarding installation safety and maintenance. Keep this information booklet accessible for further consultations. The appliance has been designed for use in the ducting version (air exhaust to the outside - Fig.1B), filtering version (air circulation on the inside - Fig.1A).

SAFETY PRECAUTION

1. Take care when the cooker hood is operating simultaneously with an open fireplace or burner that depend on the air in the environment and are supplied by other than electrical energy, as the cooker hood removes the air from the environment which a burner or fireplace need for combustion. The negative pressure in the environment must not exceed 4Pa (4x10-5 bar). Provide adequate ventilation in the environment for a safe operation of the cooker hood. Follow the local laws applicable for external air evacuation.

Before connecting the model to the electricity network:

• Control the data plate (positioned inside the appliance) to ascertain that the voltage and power correspond to the network and the socket is suitable. If in doubt ask a qualified electrician.
• If the power supply cable is damaged, it must be replaced with another cable or a special assembly, which may be obtained direct from the manufacturer or from the Technical Assistance Centre.

- This device must be connected to the supply network through either a plug fused 3A or hardwired to a 2 fase spur protected by 3A fuse.

2. Warning!

In certain circumstances electrical appliances may be a danger hazard.

A) Do not check the status of the filters while the cooker hood is operating.
B) Do not touch bulbs or adjacent areas, during or straight after prolonged use of the lighting installation.
C) Flambè cooking is prohibited underneath the cooker hood.
D) Avoid free flame, as it is damaging for the filters and a fire hazard.
E) Constantly check food frying to avoid that the overheated oil may become a fire hazard.
F) Disconnect the electrical plug prior to any maintenance. G) This appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons without supervision.
H) Young children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
I) There shall be adequate ventilation of the room when the rangehood is used at the same time as appliances burning gas or other fuels.
L) There is a risk of fire if cleaning is not carried out in accordance with the instructions.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

• Assembly and electrical connections must be carried out by specialised personnel.
• Wear protective gloves before proceeding with the installation.

• Electric Connection:

This is a class I, appliance and must therefore be connected to an efficient earthing system.

- The appliance must be connected to the electricity supply as follows:

BROWN = L line

BLUE = N neutral

YELLOW/GREEN = Earth.

The neutral wire must be connected to the terminal with the N symbol while the YELLOW/GREEN, wire must be connected to the terminal by the earth symbol ⏻.

When connecting the appliance to the electricity supply, make sure that the mains socket has an earth connection. After fitting the ducted cooker hood, make sure that the electrical plug is in a position where it can be accessed easily. If the appliance is connected directly to the electricity supply, an omnipolar switch with a minimum contact opening of 3 mm must be placed in between the two; its size must be suitable for the load required and it must comply with current legislation.

- If the hob is electric, gas, or induction, the minimum distance between the same and the lower part of the hood must be at least 100 cm. If a connection tube composed of two parts is used, the upper part must be placed outside the lower part. Do not connect the cooker hood exhaust to the same conductor used to circulate hot air or for evacuating fumes from other appliances generated by other than an electrical source. Before proceeding with the assembly operations, remove the anti-grease filter(s) (Fig.8) so that the unit is easier to handle. - In the case of assembly of the appliance in the suction version prepare the hole for evacuation of the air.

• We recommend the use of an air exhaust tube which has the same diameter as the air exhaust outlet hole. If a pipe with a smaller diameter is used, the efficiency of the product may be reduced and its operation may become noisier.

• Use only motors proposed in the original catalogue.

- Ceiling installation:

- If you install the unit in its remote engine version, choose which of the five available air outlets should be used (four lateral outlets and one superior outlet); remove the metal blanks with a screwdriver or other suitable tool, and fix the air outlet flange with the screws as shown in Figure 1C. If you install the unit in its suction version and place the engine

over the hood, remove the metal blank with a screwdriver or other suitable tool, and tighten the engine group by using the screws provided (Fig.1B).

- Make the hole in the ceiling to accommodate the device taking into account the dimensions shown in Figure 2.

ATTENTION: Make sure that the ceiling structure supports the unit's weight. If not, prepare a suitable frame to fulfil such function.

• Tighten the power box over the upper part of the hood using the screws provided (Fig.5).
• With a fitting pipe, connect the flange (Fig.1C) to the air extraction hole.
• Take the unit and place it inside the hole, just as you did in the ceiling. Make sure that the brackets are perfectly hooked (Fig.6A).
• Tighten the brackets by using the screws inside the hood, as shown in Figures 6B and 6C.
• If necessary, there is also the possibility of fixing the device with additional screws from inside the hood to an undercounter light (if present) (Fig.2A).
• Open the panel by pressing the point indicated in Fig.7.
• For different types of assemblies, use screws and anchors that are suitable for the wall material (e.g.: reinforced concrete, plasterboard, etc). If the screws and anchors are provided with the product, make sure that they are suitable for the type of wall to which the hood is fixed.

USE AND MAINTENANCE

• We recommend that the cooker hood is switched on before any food is cooked. We also recommend that the appliance is left running for 15 minutes after the food is cooked, in order to thoroughly eliminate all contaminated air.

The effective performance of the cooker hood depends on constant maintenance; the anti-grease filter and the active carbon filter both require special attention.

• The anti-grease filter is responsible retaining the grease particles suspended in the air, therefore it is subject to clogging with variable frequency according to the use of the appliance.
• To prevent the danger of possible fires, at least every 2 months one must wash the anti-grease filters by hand using non-abrasive neutral liquid detergents or in the dishwasher at low temperatures and on short cycles.
• After a few washes, colour alterations may occur. This does not give the right to claim their replacement.
• Before remounting the anti-grease filters and the regenerable active charcoal filters it is important that they are completely dry.

- Clean the hood frequently, both internally and externally, using a cloth dampened with denatured alcohol or neutral liquid detergents that are non abrasive.

• The lighting .system is designed for use during cooking and not for the prolonged general lighting of the room. The prolonged use of the lighting system significantly decreases the average duration of the bulbs.
• If the appliance is equipped with courtesy lights it is possible to use them for general room lighting for a prolonged amount of time.
• Attention: the non compliance with the hood cleaning warnings and with the replacement and cleaning of the filters entails risk of fires. One therefore recommends keeping to the suggested instructions.

- Replacing halogen light bulbs (Fig.10):

To replace the halogen lamps, B push the watch glass C and open the flap.

Replace them with a light of the same type.

Attention: do not touch the lights with your hands. If the appliance version includes LED lamps, the intervention of a specialised technician is necessary to replace them.

- Commands (Fig.11):

NOTE: all units' functions are controlled through a remote control.

If the remote control stops functioning (because of low batteries, etc.) you can directly use the control inside the unit (Fig.9-11).

Power Button (A) = The on/off button switches on and off the whole hood (motor and lights).

By pressing the button the motor starts at 1st speed.

Fan Speed button (B) = From the OFF position, press once for the 1st speed, twice for the 2nd speed and three times for the 3rd speed. In order to activate the intensive speed, press the button for 5 seconds regardless of the status of the hood. For each speed only the led indicating the set speed will turn on. The intensive speed is indicated by the flashing of the led indicating speed 3. The duration of the intensive speed is 10 minutes; after this time the hood goes back to the last set speed. In order to remove the intensive speed press the power button and the hood will switch off, or press the Fan speed button and the speed goes back to the previously set one. Speed of the hood with cyclic trend.

Light button (C) = There are three light levels: High, medium, low. From the off position press once for the high level, twice for the medium level, three times for the low level and four times to turn the lights off. The level of the lights has a cyclic trend: High, medium, low, off.

Timer button (D) = With any type of speed (excluding the intensive speed), by pressing the button, the timer function is activated for 15 minutes. After this time has elapsed the hood will turn off (motor and any light on).

Lights indicator (E) = The lights indicator will switch on when the lights are on at any level.

Filters indicator (F) = After 30 minutes of operation, the led of the filters indicator will switch on, not flashing indicating that the anti-grease filters have to be washed. To reset the function (with the hood off), press the Fan speed button for 5 seconds. After this operation, the led of the filters indicator turns off and the setting of the 30 hours starts again from the beginning.

Clean air indicator (G) = With the hood off, press the Power button (A) for 5 seconds to activate the clean air function. This will switch on the motor at speed 1 for 10 minutes every hour. The light indicator will switch on without flashing and the led of the 1st speed will switch on. In the remaining 50 minutes the light indicator will flash. The function can be deactivated by pressing any button except for the lights one.

- Commands (Fig.12):

Light button (1):

• Lights are three level (high, medium, low).
• From off, touch once for high.
• From off, touch twice for medium.
• From off, touch three times for low.
• From off, touch four times to cycle back to off.
• Light level will cycle from high, medium, low, off.

Power button (2):

• Power Button will turn power on and off for the entire hood (fan and lights).
• Hood will remember the last speed and light level it was last turned off at (Example: hood is turned off at when it was last on high speed and high lights; hood will turn back on at high speed and high lights when Power Button is pressed).

Fan Speed button (3):

• From off, press once for low speed (1), twice for medium (2), and three times for high (3).
• Fan should cycle through speeds low (1), medium (2), and high (3) continuously.

Delay Off button (4):

• If fan is off, press once and fan will turn on at low speed and automatically turn off after five (5) minutes.
• If the fan is already on (example high speed) the fan will change to low speed when the Delay Off Button is pressed and turn off after five minutes.
• When the Delay Off Function is on, the user can still change the fan speed by pressing the Fan Speed Button without interrupting the five minute Delay Off Timer.
• Delay Off Function can be turned off by pressing Delay Off Function button or Power Button.

Light indicator (5): Light indicator will turn on when lights are turned on at any light level.

Delay Off indicator (6):

• Delay Off Indicator will light up when Delay Off Function is activated by pressing the Delay Off Button.
• Delay Off Indicator will turn off after the Delay Off Function has completed the five minute cycle or if the user presses the Delay Off Button again or the Power Button (delay off timer enabled and fan speed changed to 1).

Clean Air indicator (7): Clean Air Indicator is disabled by default and must be enabled by the user.

- To enable Clean Air Function:

- With hood off, hold the Power Button down for five seconds. Clean Air Indicator light will illuminate, and the fan will turn on low speed for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes the fan will turn off and the 4 hour timer will begin.

• Clean Air Indicator will remain on when Clean Air Function is enabled, even if fan is not on.
• When Clean Air Function is enabled, every four hours of non fan usage the fan will automatically turn on at low speed for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes the fan will turn off and the 4 hour timer will reset.
• When the Clean Air Function automatically turns the fan on the Clean Air Indicator will blink and the Low Speed fan indicator will illuminate.
• If the user changes the fan speed while the Clean Air Function is operating, the Clean Air Indicator will stop blinking but will remain illuminated. When the user manually turns the hood off the 4 hour timer will reset.

- To disable Clean Air Function:

- With hood off, hold Power Button down for five seconds until Clean Air Indicator light turns off.

• Note 1: Changing the fan speed and interrupting the Clean Air Function while it is operating does not disable the Clean Air Function. Clean Air Function will only be disabled by holding the Power Button for 5 seconds.
• Note 2: Turning lights on/off does not disable the Clean Air Function (*clean air function enabled with low fan speed turned on by clean air function).

Fan Speed indicator (8):

^* = Medium

* = High

• On speed low, only number 1 indicator will be on.
• On speed medium, 1 and 2 indicator will be on.
• On speed high, 1, 2 and 3 indicators will be on.
• When fan off, no fan speed indicator will be on.
