The Ground Truth image displays a single, solid horizontal line. According to Rule 2 (UNDERSCORE & LINE RULES), this is a stylistic or background line, not a placeholder underscore. Therefore, the OCR result must ignore it and output nothing or only meaningful text. The provided OCR content is "____", which consists of four underscores. This is an incorrect interpretation of the line as a placeholder, violating the rule that stylistic lines must be ignored. The OCR has hallucinated underscores where none should exist based on the GT's visual context. Hence, the OCR result is inconsistent with the Ground Truth.

text_image 6* 7* 8* 4 2 5 3 1 2

ATTENTION:

Our optional turbo brush (i.e. depending on model and features in scope of delivery) is only for vacuuming scratch-resistant carpets, .rugs, mats, and the like. Do not clean any objects with the turbo brush that you would not clean without a second thought with a conventional brush. Therefore, do not clean furniture, or materials with a delicate texture, nor any other high-quality or polished substrates with the turbo brush. Otherwise material damage might occur. If in doubt, refrain from using the turbo brush. In every instance observe the instructions for care and cleaning of the respective manufacturer.

3.3 Assembly

  1. Unpack the appliance and all its accessories.
  2. Check that the contents are intact.

NOTE:

Immediately contact your dealer if you have found damage resulting from transport.

  1. Select the nozzle according to the surface to be cleaned:

The following are included in the scope of delivery besides the floor nozzle (Fig. 2/1):

  • Crevice nozzle (Fig. 2/2): Use it to vacuum dust from hard to reach places.
  • The 2-in-1 combi nozzle (Fig. 2/3) is used as a:

Furniture brush (Fig. 2/3: Use this to vacuum dust off objects that have sensitive surfaces.

Upholstery nozzle (Fig. 2/4): By simply pulling off the collar brush (Fig. 2/5) you can transform the 2-in-1 combi nozzle into an upholstery nozzle (Fig. 2/4). Use this to clean soft, scratch-resistant surfaces (e.g. upholstered furniture).

- Optionally available* (*i.e. included in the scope of delivery depending on model and features) are also:

  • Parquet brush (Fig. 2/6*): Its long bristles make it especially suitable for cleaning delicate floors.
  • Turbo brush (Fig. 2/7*): This has a rotating brush head and is most suitable for deep cleaning carpets thoroughly.
  • Long flexible crevice nozzle (Fig. 2/8*): Use this to vacuum dust from distant, hard-to-reach places.

NOTE:

When you use the long, flexible crevice nozzle, under certain circumstances the pressure inside the vacuum cleaner might drop too far thus triggering the safety valve. The signal for this is e.g. a whistling noise (depending on the vacuum cleaner model) and greatly reduced suction performance. In this case, depending on the vacuum cleaner model and equipment, you have to reduce the suction power or open the bypass vent until the valve no longer triggers.

  1. Store nozzles not in use out of the reach of children.

! WARNING:

Danger of injury! Only attach the nozzles if the appliance is not connected to the power supply. The cylinder vacuum cleaner could be switched on by accident.

ATTENTION:

Before vacuuming, make sure that the fitted nozzle suits the surface to be cleaned. Also observe the flooring manufacturer's recommendations.

  1. Attach the selected nozzle to the bottom end of the telescopic tube (Fig. 3/A1) or handle (Fig. 3/B1).

  2. Insert the end of the suction hose into the intake opening (Fig. 4/A) of the vacuum cleaner until you hear and feel it locking into place.

If using the telescopic tube:

  1. Insert the handle into the upper end of the telescopic tube (Fig. 4/B).
  2. Adjust the length of the telescopic tube (Fig. 4/C). Press down the release latch on the tube to do this. Then extend the telescopic tube to the desired length. Let go of the release catch while pulling until it locks in place. You will hear a distinct click.

4.1 Operational safety

WARNING:

Danger of injury! Check appliance and power cord before each use. A damaged appliance must never be used.

WARNING:

Danger of injury! Especially when vacuum-cleaning stairs make sure that you always stand on a higher level than the appliance.

ATTENTION:

Only use the cylinder vacuum cleaner when all filters are intact, dry and correctly fitted. Make sure that no objects obstruct the telescopic tube, the suction hose or other openings.

NOTE:

Your vacuum cleaner has an integrated protective function which turns the appliance off automatically before it can overheat (e.g. due to blocked suction channels, an over-full dust container, or a dual protection filter that has not been maintained properly).

If this protective function triggers, the cleaning indicator (Fig. 5/5) flashes red fast. If this occurs, pull the plug out from the socket and proceed as described in Chapter 6.1, "Before you send in the appliance". You can then turn the clean, fully-assembled vacuum cleaner back on. If the cleaning indicator (Fig. 5/5) flashed red before the cleaning work was carried out, then it will still flash red slowly for 20–30 seconds (self-analysis mode) when the appliance is switched back on before changing to green.

4.2 Vacuum cleaning

DIRT DEVIL M5080 Equ Turbo Silence - Vacuum cleaning - 1

text_image Diagram showing a vacuum cleaner's internal components with numbered parts and close-ups of labeled parts A, B, and 1.
  1. Pull out the cord by the plug up to the yellow mark (Fig. 5/1).

WARNING:

Danger of electric shock! If the red marking (Fig. 5/2) shows, retract the cord by pressing the cord retracting button (Fig. 5/3) to pull in the cord up to the yellow mark (Fig. 5/1) again. Otherwise, the power cord may be damaged.

  1. Insert the mains plug into a socket with ground/safety contact.
  2. Switch on the cylinder vacuum cleaner with the on/off switch (Fig. 5/4). The cleaning indicator (Fig. 5/5) is illuminated green.

NOTE:

In normal situations the bypass vent (Fig. 5/6) must be completely closed. With the bypass vent you can quickly reduce the suction power, e.g. to release curtains that have accidentally been sucked in.

  1. If using the floor nozzle, set the "carpet/hard floor" selector according to the type of floor to be cleaned (Fig. 6):

  2. Fig. 6/A: for deep- and short-pile carpets, runners

  3. Fig. 6/B: for smooth floors, e.g. parquet, tiles, PVC, etc.

  4. When working with the vacuum cleaner, pull it after you like a sleigh.

WARNING:

When leaving your working-area, switch off the appliance and comply with the notices in ▷Chapter 4.3, "Switching off". This will help avoid accidents.

4.3 Switching off

WARNING:

Danger of injury! During uncontrolled retraction the power cord can whip around, become a tripping hazard or knock over objects. Therefore, keep the plug in your hand and guide the cord when retracting it.

  1. Switch off the cylinder vacuum cleaner with the on/off switch (Fig. 5/4). The cleaning indicator (Fig. 5/5) goes out.
  2. Pull the plug from the socket and keep it in your hand.
  3. To retract the power cord, push the cord retracting button (Fig. 5/3).

4.4 Transport and storage

■ Only carry the vacuum cleaner by its carrying-handle (Fig. 1/17).
For storage you can park the telescopic tube on the vacuum cleaner by inserting the parking-hook of the floor nozzle into the parking-bracket (Fig. 7).
If you want to store the appliance for a longer period of time, empty the dust container, ▷Chapter 5.1, "Emptying the dust container".
■ Store the appliance in a cool, dry place, out of the reach of children.

ATTENTION:

Never store the appliance next to heat sources (e.g. stoves or radiators). Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight. Heat can damage the appliance.

5.1 Emptying the dust container

ATTENTION:

Switch off the appliance before emptying the dust container. This will prevent dust from damaging the appliance.

NOTE:

You can dispose of the contents of the dust container with your regular domestic waste as long as it does not contain any substances not permitted in domestic waste.

DIRT DEVIL M5080 Equ Turbo Silence - NOTE: - 1

DIRT DEVIL M5080 Equ Turbo Silence - NOTE: - 2

text_image B 2 1 MAX

It is best to empty the dust container after each vacuuming session.
■ Empty the dust container at the latest

  • when the cleaning indicator (Fig. 8/A1) flashes red;
  • if the "MAX" marking (Fig. 8/B1) has been reached; or
  • before sending the appliance or storing it for a long period.

  • Switch off the appliance, Chapter 4.3, "Switching off".

  • Press the release catch for the dust container (Fig. 8/A2) and remove the dust container from its console.
  • Empty the dust container by holding it low over a dustbin and only then press the release button (Fig. 8/B).
  • If the dust container and cyclone unit are still dirty after being emptied, proceed as described in ▷Chapter 5.2, "Cleaning the dust container and cyclone unit".
  • Otherwise put the bottom on and put the dust container back into its receptacle. Check that it is securely fitted.

NOTE:

If the cleaning indicator (Fig. 8/A1) flashed red before the cleaning work was carried out, then it will still flash red slowly for 20–30 seconds (self-analysis mode) when the appliance is switched back on before changing to green (operational).

NOTE:

If the dust container can no longer be completely cleaned by simply opening the bottom, the cyclone unit has to be removed.

  1. Rotate the cyclone unit and the dust container in opposite directions, thus unlocking the cyclone unit (Fig. 9/A). The arrow on the cyclone unit moves in the 'direction.
  2. Take the cyclone unit up out of the dust container.
  3. Release the collar by turning it in the direction of the arrow (Fig. 9/B) and remove it from the cyclone unit.
  4. Take the screen off the cyclone unit (Fig. 9/C).
  5. Remove any residual dust still clinging to the dust container and cyclone unit components using a dry cloth or a soft brush, e.g. the supplied furniture brush.

ATTENTION:

Refrain from cleaning with water or a damp cloth. Otherwise, loose contaminants could turn into caking that is very difficult to remove.

  1. Before you slide the screen back onto the cyclone unit, pay attention to the position of the two locking tabs (Fig. 10/A).
  2. Slide the screen back onto the cyclone unit as shown (Fig. 10/B) so that the recesses in the screen fit the two locking tabs (Fig. 10/C).

NOTE:

If the screen is not completely below both the locking tabs, you will not be able to put the collar on correctly.

  1. Also push back the collar onto the cyclone unit so that both locking tabs on the cyclone unit fit into the two recesses of the collar (Fig. 11/A).
  2. Tighten the collar by turning in the direction of the arrow (Fig. 11/B).

  3. Place the cleaned cyclone unit back on the dust container. Make sure that the arrow on the cyclone unit and the 'mark' on the dust container are opposite one another.

  4. Connect both parts by turning them towards one another. The arrow on the cyclone unit moves in the direction.

  5. Push the cleaned dust container back into its receptacle in the vacuum cleaner. You will feel and hear it snap into place.

It is best to check/clean the dual motor protection filter each time you clean the dust container and cyclone unit, Chapter 5.2. "Cleaning the dust container and cyclone unit".
- Clean the dual motor protection filter at the latest when the cleaning indicator (Fig. 12/A1) flashes red.
1. Release the retaining clip on the cover as shown (Fig. 12/B) and open the cover.
2. Remove the dual motor protection filter (Fig. 12/C).
3. Hold the dual motor protection filter low over a dustbin. Separate the filter elements from one another (Fig. 13/A). Remove larger agglomerations of dirt by hand.
4. If the filter elements are still dirty, thoroughly rinse them by hand until all dirt is gone.

ATTENTION:

The filter elements are washable, but may not be cleaned in dishwashers or washing-machines. Also, do not use detergents or brushes with hard bristles to clean them. Let the filters dry for approx 24 hours at room temperature after cleaning. Only put them back into the appliance when they are completely dry.

  1. If one of the filter elements is damaged, replace it with a new one (▷Chapter 6.2, "Spare parts and accessories").
  2. Put the completely dry filter elements back together again.
  3. Put the dual motor protection filter back onto the cyclone unit (Fig. 13/B).
  4. Put the cover back on. Lock the cover by pushing it firmly onto the cyclone unit (Fig. 13/C) until the retaining clip clicks into place.

It is best to check/clean the hygienic exhaust filter each time you clean the dual motor protection filter, ▷Chapter 5.3, "Cleaning the dual motor protection filter".
1. Switch off the appliance, ▷ Chapter 4.3, "Switching off".
2. Slide the release catch of the exhaust filter cover to the right (Fig. 14/A) and open the exhaust filter cover.
3. Remove the hygienic exhaust filter (Fig. 14/B).
4. Tap the dirt out of the hygienic exhaust filter over a dustbin.
5. Remove residual dust with a soft brush, e.g. the supplied furniture brush.
6. If the hygienic exhaust filter is still dirty after this procedure, thoroughly rinse it by hand until all dirt is gone.

ATTENTION:

The filter is washable, but it may not be cleaned in dishwashers or washing machines. Also, do not use detergents or brushes with hard bristles to clean them. Let the filter dry for approx. 24 hours at room temperature after washing it. Only put it back in place when it is completely dry.

  1. If the exhaust filter is damaged or deformed, replace it (ordering information ▷Chapter 6.2, "Spare parts and accessories").
  2. Place the clean/new exhaust filter back into its receptacle (Fig. 15/A).
  3. Fit the exhaust filter cover on the bottom first and then pivot it in upwards into place (Fig. 15/B).

6.1 Before you send in the appliance

WARNING:

Danger of injury! Never use a defective appliance! Always switch off the appliance and disconnect it from the mains before starting troubleshooting ▷ Chapter 4.3, "Switching off".

Before contacting your authorised Royal dealer, Royal service partner or appliance market or sending in the appliance, first follow the procedure in the following table to check if you can solve the problem yourself.

No.Problem Possible cause Solution
1The cleaning results are not satisfactory although the cleaning indicator (Fig. 1/8) is green. The bypass vent (Fig. 1/19) is open. Close the bypass vent (Fig. 1/19).
The attached nozzle is unsuitable. Change the nozzle, ▷Chapter 3.2, "Selecting the proper nozzle".
The position of the 'carpet/hard floor' selector (Fig. 1/2) is unsuitable. Set the "carpet/hard floor" selector (Fig. 1/2) to the correct position for the type of floor, ▷Chapter 4.2, "Vacuum cleaning", step 4.
The dust container is full. Empty the dust container, ▷Chapter 5.1, "Emptying the dust container".
Nozzle, telescopic tube or suction hose is blocked. Remove the obstacle. If necessary, use a long wooden stick (e.g. a broom-stick) to do this.
2The cleaning indicator (Fig. 1/8) suddenly begins to slowly flash red during cleaning. The dust container has not been emptied often enough, or the nozzle, telescopic tube, or suction hose is blocked. 1. Switch off the appliance and pull the plug from the mains socket, ▷Chapter 4.3, "Switching off". 2. Empty the dust container, ▷Chapter 5.1, "Emptying the dust container". 3. Replace the dust container. 4. Plug the plug into a socket and turn the clean and fully-assembled vacuum cleaner back on. 5. If the cleaning indicator (Fig. 1/8) flashes red for more than thirty seconds after being switched back on despite the dust container being empty, then you also have to clean the components of the vacuum cleaner, ▷Chapter 5.2, "Cleaning the dust container and cyclone unit" and ▷Chapter 5.3, "Cleaning the dual motor protection filter". 6. Take this opportunity to remove the nozzle, telescopic tube, or suction hose from the appliance and remove any blockages (e.g. with a broom stick). 7. Plug the plug into a socket and turn the clean and fully-assembled vacuum cleaner back on. The cleaning indicator (Fig. 5/5) will continue to flash red slowly for 20-30 seconds (self-analysis mode) and will then change to green (operational).
3The cleaning indicator (Fig. 1/8) slowly flashes red for 20-30 seconds after being switched back on.This is normal. Your vacuum cleaner performs a self-analysis during this time. After 20-30 seconds the cleaning indicator (Fig. 1/8) turns back to green.
4The cleaning indicator (Fig. 1/8) slowly flashes red for longer than 30 seconds after being switched back on.The cleaning carried out was not sufficient. Proceed in accordance with the solution for problem no. 2.
5The cleaning indicator (Fig. 1/8) flashes red fast after flashing red slowly for a while during cleaning. The dust container has not been emptied often enough, or the nozzle, telescopic tube, or suction hose is blocked. If you do not react soon, the integrated protective mechanism in the vacuum cleaner will turn the appliance off automatically before it overheats. Proceed in accordance with the solution for problem no. 2.
6The appliance suddenly stops vacuuming and the cleaning indicator (Fig. 1/8) continues to flash red fast. The protective function in the vacuum cleaner, which turns the appliance off before it overheats, has been triggered because you continued to vacuum even though the cleaning indicator was flashing red, meaning there was a risk of over-heating. Proceed in accordance with the solution for problem no. 2.

6.3 Within the warranty period

We grant the legally prescribed warranty of 24 months from the date of purchase for the appliance distributed by us.

Within this period we will, at our discretion, either repair all appliance defects due to manufacturing or materials or replace the appliance or accessory (damages to accessories do not automatically cause a replacement of the complete appliance) at no cost. Damage due to inappropriate use (operation on wrong voltage or type of current, connecting to unsuitable power supplies, breakage, etc.) are exempt from warranty, as are normal wear and minor defects that only negligibly influence the appliance's serviceability. Interventions by unauthorised parties and the use of spare parts not supplied by RoyalAppliance make the warranty null and void. Consumable parts are not included in the warranty and therefore must be purchased by the customer!

The warranty is only valid if the date of purchase has been acknowledged by the dealer's stamp and signature on the warranty card or if a copy of the invoice or sales slip is included with the sent-in appliance. Warranty work does not extend the warranty period nor does it constitute a claim for a new warranty!

Send us the appliance with its dust container empty and a short description of the defect in printed letters.

Head your accompanying letter with the comment 'warranty claim'. Send it to the following address, including the warranty card or a copy of the invoice or purchase slip:
