Introduction

Thank you for purchasing a StarTech.com 4 port CardBus 16950 Serial Card. This card allows users to add multiple serial ports to their laptop computer, using an available CardBus slot, for seamless use with serial peripherals, including printers, scanners and more.

Installation

Windows XP

1. With the notebook PC powered on and fully booted, insert the PCMCIA Card into an available CardBus slot on your notebook PC.
2. This will launch the Add New Hardware Wizard, which will guide you through the installation process. On the first screen, click Next to continue. On the screen that follows, select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and click Next to proceed.
3. Insert the driver CD into the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive. Select Include this location in the search, then click Browse to specify the driver location and click Next to continue.
4. Click Next to continue, and click Finish to complete the installation.
5. To verify that installation has completed successfully, right-click on My Computer and choose Manage. Select Device Manager and double click on Ports.
6. Here, you should see Compact Flash OX16CF950 listed, if the card has installed properly.

Windows 2000

Please note: Prior to installation, please ensure that your operating system has been updated with the SP4 (service pack 4) update.

1. With the computer powered down, insert the CardBus card into an available CardBus slot. Once the card is securely placed, please power up the computer.
2. Once the operating system is loaded, it will display the Found New Hardware Wizard.

Click Next to continue.

1. Insert the Driver CD into the CD/DVD-ROM drive, and select Search for a suitable driver for my device (Recommended), and click Next.
2. Select Specify a location, and click Next to continue. Click Browse to specify the location of the driver file (D:\IO\OXFORD, where D:\ specifies the location of the CD/DVD-ROM drive).
3. Click Next to continue, and click Yes to skip the digital signature process. Please note that the software has been thoroughly tested for compatibility and reliability.
4. Click Finish to complete the installation.
5. To verify that installation has completed successfully, right-click on My Computer and choose Manage. Select Device Manager and double click on Ports.
6. Here, you should see Compact Flash OX16CF950 listed, if the card has installed properly.

Windows Windows ME/98

1. With the computer powered down, insert the CardBus card into an available CardBus slot. Once the card is securely placed, please power up the computer.

4. Click Next to continue installation and click Finish to complete the installation.
5. To verify that installation has completed successfully, right-click on My Computer and choose Manage. Select Device Manager and double click on Ports.
