How do I install the VRFFD-79D?

Installation involves connecting the T-harness between the vehicle harness and the radio, then plugging the white 18-pin connector into the module. Set the DIP switches according to your camera setup. Refer to the installation diagram in the manual.

Which vehicles are compatible with the VRFFD-79D?

How do I set the DIP switches?

Can I use my factory backup camera with this interface?

Yes, the VRFFD-79D supports factory backup cameras. Connect the 6-pin plug from the OEM camera to the module if using the factory camera. For vehicles without a factory camera, use the RVCFD-790 (sold separately).

Can I add an aftermarket front camera?

Yes, you can add an optional front camera (e.g., CFF-01 bullet type). Connect it to the front camera input and set DIP2 to ON to enable it. The front camera will automatically display for 10 seconds when shifting from Reverse to Drive.

How do I toggle between camera views?

Press and hold the SEEK UP button on the steering wheel for 3 seconds to enter forced camera view mode. Then each press of SEEK UP toggles through enabled cameras (front, backup, video input). While in reverse, press and hold HANG UP to toggle between reverse and video input.

Why is my backup camera not showing?

Ensure the DIP switches are set correctly (DIP5 for video input, DIP2 for front camera, etc.). Check that the camera is connected properly and receiving +12V power from the module. If using an OEM camera, confirm the 6-pin plug is connected. Also verify the vehicle is in reverse.

What is the forced camera view mode?

Forced camera view mode allows you to manually cycle through camera inputs (front, backup, video) by pressing the SEEK UP button after holding it for 3 seconds. This mode lets you view cameras outside of the automatic reverse trigger.

How do I connect the T-harness?

First, disconnect the original radio connector from the vehicle harness. Plug that connector into one end of the T-harness. Then plug the other end of the T-harness into the radio. Finally, connect the white 18-pin connector from the T-harness to the VRFFD-79D module.

What optional cameras are available for the VRFFD-79D?

1. Lift the rubber mat on the dashboard upper tray and remove the 2 screws.

1. Carefully pull out the radio bezel. This is held by multiple clips.

1. Install the cameras and run the video and power cables towards the radio. Make the video and power connections. The VRFFD-79D provides +12V power to the cameras.

1. Remove the tray and remove the 2 screws holding the radio bezel.

1. Remove the radio, unplug the connector and plug it into the VRFFD-79D T-harness. Plug the other end of the T-harness to the radio.

1. Plug the white, 18-pin connector of the T-harness to the VRFFD-79D module. Set the DIP switches according to the chart on page 2.

OPERATION:

1. Press and hold the SEEK UP button for 3 seconds to turn on forced camera view mode. Each press of the button thereafter toggles which ever cameras are turned on using the DIP switches.(Forced view of the backup camera is only available if using an aftermarket backup camera.) While in reverse gear, press and hold the HANG UP button to toggle between reverse, and the extra video input.

1. The front camera (if installed) will automatically show on the screen for 10 seconds when the gear is put to Drive from Reverse.
