Should I disconnect the battery before installation?

Yes, Metra recommends disconnecting the negative battery terminal before starting, unless the vehicle manufacturer advises otherwise. This prevents electrical shorts and airbag issues.

Will this kit work with any aftermarket radio?

The kit provides a DIN sleeve for installing a standard single-DIN aftermarket radio. Ensure your radio fits DIN dimensions; the trim plate will cover the gap around the radio.

CAUTION! Metra recommends disconnecting the negative battery terminal before beginning any installation, unless the vehicle manufacturer recommends against so. Please check with your local Dealership for more information. All accessories, switches, climate controls panels, and especially air bag indicator lights must be connected before reconnecting the battery or cycling the ignition. Also, do not remove the factory radio with the key in the on position, or the vehicle running. It would be best to remove the key from the ignition and then wait a few seconds before removing the factory radio.

Dash Disassembly

1. Insert Metra's 86-9001 into the slots in the factory radio and pull the radio out. (Figure A)
2. Disconnect the wiring.
3. For TT models only: Remove (2) Phillips screws from inside the radio opening. (Figure B)

AUDI A4/A6/A8 1996-1999

1. Remove the metal DIN sleeve and trim ring from the aftermarket radio.
   Note: Disregard the trim ring, it will not be used in this application.
2. Slide the sleeve into the radio opening in the dash and secure by bending the metal locking tabs down.
3. Locate the factory wiring harness and antenna connector in the dash, and complete all necessary connections to the radio. Metra recommends using the proper mating adapter from Metra and/or AXXESS. Re-connect the negative battery terminal and test the radio for proper operation.
4. Slide the radio back into the sleeve until it clicks in.
5. Snap Trim Plate (a) onto the front of the radio.

Audi TT 2000-2006

1. Remove the metal DIN sleeve and trim ring from the aftermarket radio.
   Note: Disregard the trim ring, it will not be used in this application.
2. Slide the sleeve into the radio opening in the dash and secure by bending the metal locking tabs down.
3. Locate the factory wiring harness and antenna connector in the dash, and complete all necessary connections to the radio. Metra recommends using the proper mating adapter from Metra and/or AXXESS. Re-connect the negative battery terminal and test the radio for proper operation.
4. Slide the radio back into the sleeve until it clicks in.
5. Secure Trim Plate (b) to the front of the radio opening using the screws removed during disassembly.
6. Place the screw caps into the screw openings in the trim plate.
