Features

Installation
Notes:
- Hard drives are sensitive to static electricity and must be handled properly to prevent data loss. Always handle your hard drive with caution: wear an anti-static strap when transporting it, or touch a grounded metal surface to discharge yourself of static electricity before picking up the drive.
- If your drive has not been formatted, you need to format it using your computer's Disk Management utility before you can copy and access files.

Before unplugging the adapter, make sure to properly eject the drive from your computer to avoid any potential data loss.

Connect the U238-000-1 to your computer using the included USB 2.0 cable.
- Connect the external power supply to the U238-000-1 and plug it into an appropriate power source.
- Connect your SATA and/or IDE drive to the appropriate port on the U238-000-1. Use the included 4-Pin Molex cable to provide power to your IDE drive.
- Upon connecting a drive, your computer will recognize it, making it available for access.
- To install the included backup software, insert the CD packaged with the product. If your computer doesn't have a CD drive, you can download the software at www.tripplite.com/support. Navigate to and run the setup.exe file, following the prompts that appear to install it on your computer.
One Button File Backup
The One Button Backup function performs a backup according to the settings you enter in the J-Micron Backup utility. Simply connect your hard drive via the USB port on your computer, and press the backup button on your U238-000-1 adapter. The backup will take place according to the settings you have entered.
Warranty and Product Registration
1-Year Limited Warranty
TRIPP LITE warrants its products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of initial purchase. TRIPP LITE's obligation under this warranty is limited to repairing or replacing (at its sole option) any such defective products. To obtain service under this warranty, you must obtain a Returned Material Authorization (RMA) number from TRIPP LITE or an authorized TRIPP LITE service center. Products must be returned to TRIPP LITE or an authorized TRIPP LITE service center with transportation charges prepaid and must be accompanied by a brief description of the problem encountered and proof of date and place of purchase. This warranty does not apply to equipment, which has been damaged by accident, negligence or misapplication or has been altered or modified in any way.
EXCEPT AS PROVIDED HEREIN, TRIPP LITE MAKES NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. Some states do not permit limitation or exclusion of implied warranties; therefore, the aforesaid limitation(s) or exclusion(s) may not apply to the purchaser.
EXCEPT AS PROVIDED ABOVE, IN NO EVENT WILL TRIPP LITE BE LIABLE FOR DIRECT, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE OF THIS PRODUCT, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE. Specifically, TRIPP LITE is not liable for any costs, such as lost profits or revenue, loss of equipment, loss of use of equipment, loss of software, loss of data, costs of substitutes, claims by third parties, or otherwise.
