IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING YOUR COOKTOP

  • Know which knob controls each surface heating unit.
  • Use Proper Pan Size—This appliance is equipped with one or more surface units of different sizes. Select utensils having flat bottoms large enough to cover the surface unit. The use of undersized utensils will expose a portion of surface heating to direct contact and may result in ignition of clothing. Proper relationship of utensil to the surface will also improve efficiency.
  • Utensil Handles Should Be Turned Inward and Should Not Extend Over Adjacent Surface Units—To reduce the risk of burns, ignition of fl ammable materials, and spillage due to unintentional contact with the utensil. The handle of the utensil should be positioned so that it is turned inward, and does not extend over adjacent surface unit.
  • Do not use Searing Grill on the cooktop—The Searing grill is not designed for use on the cooktop. Doing so may result in a fire.
  • Never Leave Surface Units Unattended—Boilovers cause smoking and greasy spillovers that may ignite, or a pan that has boiled dry may melt.
  • Protective Liners—Do not use aluminum foil to line oven bottom or any other part of the appliance. Only use aluminum as recommended for baking if used as a cover placed on the food. Any other used of protective liners or aluminum foil may result in a risk of electric shock or fire or a short circuit.
  • Glazed Cooking Utensils—Only certain types of glass, glass/ceramic, ceramic, earthenware, or other glazed utensils are suitable for cooktop service without breaking

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

due to the sudden change in temperature. Check the manufacturer's recommendations for cooktop use.

- Do Not Use Decorative Surface Burner Covers. If an element is accidentally turned on, the decorative cover will become hot and possibly melt. Burns will occur if the hot covers are touched. Damage may also be done to the cooktop.

FOR GLASS COOKTOP ONLY

  • Do Not Clean or Operate a Broken Cooktop—If cooktop should break, cleaning solutions and spillovers may penetrate the broken cooktop and create a risk of electric shock. Contact a qualified technician immediately.
  • Clean Cooktop Glass with Caution— If a wet sponge or cloth is used to wipe spills on a hot cooking area, be careful to avoid a steam burn. Some cleaners can produce harmful fumes if applied to a hot surface.
  • Do not place hot cookware on cold cooktop glass— This cold cause glass to break.
  • Avoid Scratching the Cooktop Glass with Sharp Objects.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING YOUR OVEN

  • Use Care When Opening Oven Door—Stand to the side of the appliance when opening the door/drawer of a hot appliance. Let hot air or steam escape before you remove or replace food in the oven/drawer.
  • Keep Oven Vent Ducts Unobstructed. The oven is vented at the front above the oven door. Touching the surfaces in this area when the oven is operating may cause severe burns. Also, do not place plastic or heat-sensitive items on or near the oven vent. These items could melt or ignite.

FRIGIDAIRE FFEF4015LW - IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING YOUR OVEN - 1

WARNING

NEVER cover any slots, holes or passages in the oven bottom or cover an entire rack with materials such as aluminum foil. Doing so blocks air flow through the oven and may cause carbon monoxide poisoning. Aluminum foil linings may trap heat, causing a fire hazard.

- Placement of Oven Racks. Always place oven racks in desired location while appliance is cool. Remove all utensils from the rack before removing rack. If rack must be moved while oven is hot, use extreme caution. Use pot holders and grasp the rack with both hands to reposition. Do not let pot holders contact the hot oven element or interior of the oven.

  • Do not use a broiler pan without its insert. Broiler pan and grid allow dripping fat to drain and be kept away from the high heat of the broiler.
  • Do not cover the broiler grid or oven bottom with aluminum foil. Exposed fat and grease could ignite.
  • Do not touch a hot oven light bulb with a damp cloth. Doing so could cause the bulb to break. Disconnect the appliance or shut off the power to the appliance before removing and replacing the bulb.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR CLEANING YOUR OVEN

  • Clean the appliance regularly to keep all parts free of grease that could catch fire. Exhaust fan ventilation hoods and grease fi Iters should be kept clean. Do not allow grease to accumulate. Greasy deposits in the fan could catch fire. Refer to the hood manufacturer's instructions for cleaning.
  • Cleaners/ Aerosols—Always follow the manufacturer's recommended directions for use. Be aware that excess residue from cleaners and aerosols may ignite causing damage and/or injury.

SELF-CLEANING OVEN ONLY

  • Clean in the self-cleaning cycle only the parts of the appliance listed in this Owner's Guide. Before using the self-cleaning cycle of the appliance, remove all utensils stored in the appliance.
  • Do not clean the oven door gasket. The door gasket is essential for a good seal. Care should be taken not to rub, damage or move the gasket.
  • Do not use oven cleaners. No oven cleaner or oven liner protective coating of any kind should be used in or around any part of the appliance.
  • Remove oven racks. Oven racks color will change if left in the oven during a self-cleaning cycle.

BEFORE SETTING SURFACE CONTROLS

Using proper cookware

The size and type of cookware used will influence the setting needed for best cooking results. Be sure to follow the recommendations for using proper cookware as illustrated in Figures 1 & 2.

Cookware should have fl at bottoms that make good contact with the entire surface heating element (Figure 1). Check for fl atness by rotating a ruler across the bottom of the cookware (Figure 2).

CORRECT
FRIGIDAIRE FFEF4015LW - Using proper cookware - 1

  • Flat bottom and straight sides.
  • Tight fitting lids.
  • Weight of handle does not tilt pan. Pan is well balanced.
  • Pan sizes match the amount of food to be prepared and the size of the surface element.
    • Made of a material that conducts heat well.
  • Easy to clean.
    ● Always match pot diameter to element surface diameter.

INCORRECT
FRIGIDAIRE FFEF4015LW - Using proper cookware - 2

- Curved and warped pan bottoms.

FRIGIDAIRE FFEF4015LW - Using proper cookware - 3

- Pan overhangs element by more than one-half inch.

FRIGIDAIRE FFEF4015LW - Using proper cookware - 4

- Pan is smaller than element.

FRIGIDAIRE FFEF4015LW - Using proper cookware - 5

- Heavy handle tilts pan.

Figure 2

Cookware material types

The cookware material determines how evenly and quickly heat is transferred from the surface element to the pan bottom. The most popular materials available are:

Aluminum- Excellent heat conductor. Some types of food will cause it to darken (Anodized aluminum cookware resists staining & pitting). If aluminum pans slide across the ceramic glass cooktop, they may leave metal marks which will resemble scratches. Remove these marks immediately.

Copper- Excellent heat conductor but discolors easily. May leave metal marks on ceramic glass (see Aluminum above).

Stainless steel- Slow heat conductor with uneven cooking results. Is durable, easy to clean and resists staining.

Cast iron- A poor heat conductor however will retain heat very well. Cooks evenly once cooking temperature is reached. Not recommended for use on ceramic cooktops.

Porcelain-enamel on metal- Heating characteristics will vary depending on base material. Porcelain-enamel coating must be smooth to avoid scratching ceramic cooktops.

Glass- Slow heat conductor. Not recommended for ceramic cooktop surfaces because it may scratch the glass.

SETTING SURFACE CONTROLS

Coil surface elements

The cooktop has 4 coil surface element positions (figure 1).

To Operate the Coil Surface Elements

  1. Place cooking utensil on the surface element.
  2. Push in and turn the Surface Control knob in either direction to the desired setting (figure 2). Start most cooking operations on a higher setting and then turn to a lower setting to fi nish cooking. The control knobs do not have to be set exactly on a particular mark. Use the marks as a guide and adjust the control knob as needed.

  3. When cooking is completed, turn the surface element off before removing the pan.

FRIGIDAIRE FFEF4015LW - To Operate the Coil Surface Elements - 1

CAUTION

Do not place plastic items such as salt and pepper shakers, spoon holders or plastic wrappings on cooktop when it is in use. These items could melt or ignite. Potholders, towels or wooden spoons could catch fi re if placed too close to the surface elements.

Surface Cooking Settings

Use the chart to determine the correct setting for the kind of food you are preparing. The Simmer settings are used to simmer and keep larger quantities of foods warm such as stews and soups. The lower Simmer settings are ideal for delicate foods and melting chocolate or butter.

Note: The size and type of cookware used will influence the setting needed for best cooking results.

Recommended Settings for Surface Elements
Setting Type of Cooking
HIGH (Hi) Start most foods, bring water to a boil, pan broiling.
MED HIGH (5-8) Continue a rapid boil, fry, deep fat fry.
MED (5) Maintain a slow boil, thicken sauces and gravies, steam vegetables.
MED LOW (2-4) Keep foods cooking, poach, stew.
LOW (Lo - 2) Keep warm, melt, simmer.

NOTE

The surface "Element ON" indicator light will glow when one or more elements are turned ON. A quick glance at this indicator light when cooking is finished is an easy check to be sure all surface elements are turned OFF.

To Operate the Griddle (model C only)

Foods can be placed directly on the griddle for cooking (fi gure 1). To remove the griddle for cleaning the burner box underneath, grasp the griddle in the front and gently pull away from plug terminal, then lift up and out. To reinstall, grasp the griddle with both hands at the end opposite the terminals and using the middle rod at the terminal end as a guide, push the griddle into place.

  1. Push in and turn the griddle control in either direction to the desired setting (fi gure 2). Start most cooking operations on a higher setting; then turn to a lower setting to fi nish cooking.
  2. The control does not have to be set exactly on a particular mark. Use the marks as a guide and adjust the control as needed.
  3. The griddle indicator light glows when the griddle is on. A quick glance at the light when cooking is fi nished is an easy check to be sure the control is turned off.
  4. Preheat for a few minutes (until butter melts or beads of water dance on the griddle).
  5. Use only nylon or plastic spatulas, spoons, etc. Metal can scratch the non-stick fi nish.
  6. Make sure the griddle is turned OFF when cooking is fi nished. Leaving the griddle ON will damage it.

BEFORE SETTING OVEN CONTROLS

Oven vent location

Each oven has its own vent as shown below (Figure 1). When the oven is on, warm air is released through the vent. This venting is necessary for proper air circulation in the oven and good baking results. DO NOT BLOCK OVEN VENT. Never close off the openings with aluminium foil or any other material.

CAUTION

Some models are equipped with a blower which runs in baking and self-cleaning mode to keep all internal components at a cool temperature. The blower may keep running even if the oven has been turned OFF, until the components have cooled down.

Air circulation in the oven

If using 1 rack (Figure 2), place in center of oven. If using multiple racks (Figure 3), stagger cookware as shown.

For best air circulation and baking results allow 2-4" (5-10 cm) around the cookware for proper air circulation and be sure pans and cookware do not touch each other, the oven door, sides or back of the oven cavity. The hot air must circulate around the pans and cookware in the oven for even heat to reach around the food.

SETTING BROI L

This mode is best for meats, fi sh and poultry up to 1" thick. Broiling is a method of cooking tender cuts of meat by direct heat under the broil element of the oven. The high heat cooks quickly and gives a rich, brown outer appearance. The BROIL pad controls the Broil feature. An optional Searing Grill, Broiler Pan and Insert are available via the enclosed accessories brochure (Figure 1 & 2). The optional broil pan and broil pan insert used together allow dripping grease to drain and be kept away from the high heat of the oven broiler.

Broiling Tips:

  • For optimum browning, preheat the broil element for 5 minutes.
  • Broil one side until the food is browned; turn and cook on the second side. Season and serve.
  • Always pull the rack out to the “stop” position before turning or removing food.
  • Always use the broiler pan and its cover when broiling. It allows the dripping grease to be kept away from the high heat of the broil element (see Figure 1).
  • For best broiling results, broil with the oven door in the broil stop position (see Figure 3).

  • If using a Searing Grill (available by mail order), preheat the grill for 5 to 10 minutes before placing your meat.

  • DO NOT use the broil pan without the insert. DO NOT cover the broil pan insert with foil. The exposed grease could catch fi re.

RECALI BRATING YOUR OVEN TEMPERATURE

Recalibrating Your Oven Temperature

The temperature in the oven has been set at the factory. When first using the oven, be sure to follow recipe times and temperatures. If you think the oven is too hot or too cool, the temperature in the oven can be adjusted. Before adjusting, test a recipe by using a temperature setting that is higher or lower than recommended temperature. The baking results should help you to decide how much of an adjustment is needed.

To Adjust Oven Temperature:

  1. Push the BAKE pad.
  2. Set the temperature to 550^ F ( 287^ C) by pushing and holding the UP ARROW pad.
  3. Within 2 seconds, push and hold the BAKE pad until the special 2 digit display appears. Release the BAKE pad. The display now indicates the amount of degrees offset between the original factory temperature setting and the current temperature setting. If the oven control has the original factory calibration, the display will read "00."
  4. The temperature can now be adjusted up or down 35^ F ( 17^ C), in 5^ F ( 1^ C) steps by pushing and holding the UP or DOWN ARROW pad. Adjust until the desired amount of degrees offset appears in the display. When lowering the oven temperature, a minus sign (-) will appear before the number to indicate that the oven will be cooler by the displayed amount of degrees.
  5. When you have made the desired adjustment, push the CLEAR OFF pad to go back to the time of day display.

MODEL B & C - SETTING MAIN OVEN CONTROLS

SELF-CLEANING

A self-cleaning oven cleans itself with high temperatures (well above normal cooking temperatures) which eliminate soils completely or reduces them to a fine powdered ash you can wipe away with a damp cloth.

FRIGIDAIRE FFEF4015LW - SELF-CLEANING - 1

IMPORTANT

Adhere to the following cleaning precautions:

  • DO NOT use oven cleaners or oven protective coatings in or around any part of the oven interior.
  • DO NOT clean the oven door gasket. The woven material of the oven door gasket is essential for a good seal. Care should be taken not to rub, damage or remove the gasket.
  • DO NOT use any cleaning materials on the oven door gasket. Doing so could cause damage.
  • Remove the broiler pan and insert, all utensils and ANY ALUMI NUM FOIL. These items cannot withstand high cleaning temperatures and will melt.
  • Completely remove ALL OVEN RACKS and ANY ACCESSORIES. If the oven racks are not removed, they will lose their special coating properties and will no longer slide in and out of the oven cavity effortlessly.
  • Remove any excessive spillovers in the oven cavity before starting the Self-Cleaning cycle. To clean, use hot, soapy water and a cloth. Large spillovers can cause heavy smoke or fi re when subjected to high temperatures. DO NOT allow food spills with a high sugar or acid content (such as milk, tomatoes, sauerkraut, fruit juices or pie fi lling) to remain on the surface as they may leave a dull spot even after cleaning.
  • Clean any soil from the oven frame, the door liner outside the oven door gasket and the small area at the front center of the oven bottom. These areas heat sufficiently to burn soil on. Clean with soap and water.

FRIGIDAIRE FFEF4015LW - Adhere to the following cleaning precautions: - 1

text_image DO HAND CLEAN FRAME DO NOT HAND CLEAN OVEN DO OR Gasket DO HAND CLEAN DOOR

What to Expect during Cleaning

While the oven is in operation, the oven heats to temperatures much higher than those used in normal cooking. Sounds of metal expansion and contraction are normal. Odor is also normal as the food soil is being removed. Smoke may appear through the oven vent.

If heavy spillovers are not wiped up before cleaning, they may flame and cause more smoke and odor than usual. This is normal and safe and should not cause alarm. If available, use an exhaust fan during the self-cleaning cycle.

FRIGIDAIRE FFEF4015LW - What to Expect during Cleaning - 1

CAUTION

To avoid possible burns use care when opening the oven door after the Self-Cleaning cycle. Stand to the side of the oven when opening the door to allow hot air or steam to escape.

During the Self-Cleaning cycle, the outside of the range can become very hot to the touch. DO NOT leave small children unattended near the appliance.

The health of some birds is extremely sensitive to the fumes given off during the Self-Cleaning cycle of any range. Move birds to another well-ventilated room.

DO NOT line the oven walls, racks, bottom or any other part of the range with aluminum foil. Doing so will destroy heat distribution, produce poor baking results and cause permanent damage to the oven interior (aluminum foil will melt to the interior surface of the oven).

DO NOT force the oven door open. This can damage the automatic door locking system. Use caution when opening the door after the Self-Cleaning cycle is completed. The oven may still be VERY HOT.

FRIGIDAIRE FFEF4015LW - CAUTION - 1

NOTE

See additional cleaning information for the oven door in the General Care & Cleaning section.

CARE & CLEANING (Cleaning Chart)

Cleaning various parts of your appliance

Before cleaning any part of the appliance, be sure all controls are turned OFF and the appliance is COOL. REMOVE SPILLOVERS AND HEAVY SOILING AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. REGULAR CLEANING WILL REDUCE THE NUMBER OF MAJOR CLEANING LATER.

Surfaces How to Clean
Aluminum (trim pieces) & VinylUse hot, soapy water and a cloth. Dry with a clean cloth.
Glass, Painted and Plastic Body Parts, Control Knobs & Decorative Trim PiecesUsing a soft cloth, clean with mild dish detergent and water or a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water. Follow by rinsing the area with clean water; dry and polish with a soft cloth. Glass cleaners may be used if sprayed on a soft cloth first. DO NOT spray liquids directly on the control pad and display area. Do not use large amounts of water on the control panel - excess water on the control area may cause damage to the appliance. Do not use other liquid cleaners, abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or paper towels - they will damage the finish. To remove control knobs, turn to the OFF position; grasp firmly and pull straight off the shaft. To replace knobs after cleaning, line up the flat sides of both the knob and the shaft; then push the knob into place.
Control PanelBefore cleaning the control panel, turn all controls to OFF and remove the control knobs. To remove, pull each knob straight off the shaft. Clean as instructed above. Squeeze excess water from the cloth before wiping the panel; especially when wiping around the controls. Excess water in or around the controls may cause damage to the appliance. To replace knobs after cleaning, line up the flat sides of both the knob and the shaft; then push the knob into place.
Porcelain Enamel Cooktop Surface, Below Cooktop, Broiler Pan & Insert (some models), Door Liner, Oven BottomClean broiler pan and insert (some models) in the dishwasher and dry upon removal. If soils are not removed, follow the cooktop cleaning instructions below.
Gentle scouring with a soapy scouring pad will remove most spots. Rinse with a 1:1 solution of clear water and ammonia. If necessary, cover difficult spots with an ammonia-soaked paper towel for 30 to 40 minutes. Rinse with clean water and a damp cloth, then scrub with a soap-filled scouring pad. Rinse and wipe dry with a clean cloth. Remove all cleaners or the porcelain may become damaged during future heating. DO NOT use spray oven cleaners on the cooktop.
Chrome Cooktop SurfaceCleaners made especially for stainless steel and chrome as Stainless Steel Magic, or other similar cleaners are recommended. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions. Be sure to rinse the cleaners as bluish stains may occur during heating and cannot be removed.
Oven RacksRemove racks. See “To remove and to replace an oven rack” under Oven vent(s) and racks. Use a mild, abrasive cleaner, following manufacturer's instructions. Rinse with clean water and dry. After cleaning the racks, rub the sides of the racks with wax paper or a cloth containing a small amount of baby oil or salad oil (this will make the racks glide easier into the rack positions).
Oven Door FRIGIDAIRE FFEF4015LW - Cleaning various parts of your appliance - 1 and ven ketUse soap & water to thoroughly clean the top, sides and front of the oven door. Rinse well. You may use a glass cleaner on the outside glass of the oven door. DO NOT immerse the door in water. DO NOT spray or allow water or the glass cleaner to enter the door vents. DO NOT use oven cleaners, cleaning powders or any harsh abrasive cleaning materials on the outside of the oven door.
DO NOT clean the oven door gasket. The oven door gasket is made of a woven material, on Self-Cleaning models, which is essential for a good seal. Care should be taken not to rub, damage or remove this gasket.

Porcelain enamel oven Cleaning (main oven on model A) (auxiliary oven on model B & C)

FRIGIDAIRE FFEF4015LW - Porcelain enamel oven Cleaning (main oven on model A) (auxiliary oven on model B & C) - 1

IMPORTANT

Adhere to the following cleaning precautions:

  • Allow the oven to cool before cleaning.
  • Wear rubber gloves when cleaning the appliance manually.

Remove spillovers and heavy soils as soon as possible. Regular cleanings will reduce the number of future major cleanings.

FRIGIDAIRE FFEF4015LW - Adhere to the following cleaning precautions: - 1

CAUTION

Ammonia must be rinsed before operating the oven. Provide adequate ventilation.

Porcelain has a smooth fi nish and is a type of glass fused to metal. Oven cleaners can be used on all interior oven surfaces.

General Cleaning

Remove soils using hot, soapy water. Do not allow food spills with a high sugar or acid content (such as milk, tomatoes, saukerkraut, fruit juices or pie filling) to remain on the surface as they may cause a dull spot even after cleaning.

To Remove Heavy Soil

  1. Allow a dish of ammonia to sit in the oven overnight or for several hours with the oven door closed. Clean softened spots using hot, soapy water. Rinse well with water and a clean cloth.
  2. If soil remains, use a soap-filled scouring pad or a nonabrasive cleaner. If necessary, use an oven cleaner following manufacturer's instructions. DO NOT mix ammonia with other cleaners.

Adhere to the following precautions when using oven cleaners:

  1. DO NOT spray on the electrical controls or switches because it could cause a short circuit and result in sparking or fire.
  2. DO NOT allow a film from the cleaner to build up on the temperature sensing bulb located at the top left rear corner of the oven; it could cause the oven to heat improperly. Carefully wipe the bulb clean after each oven cleaning, being careful not to move the bulb. A change in its position could affect how the oven bakes. Avoid bending the bulb and capillary tube.
  3. DO NOT spray any cleaner on the oven door trim or gasket, handles or any exterior surfaces of the range, wood or painted surfaces. The cleaner can damage these surfaces.

To Clean the Oven Bottom

Clean using hot, soapy water, a mild abrasive cleanser, a soap-fi lled abrasive pad or oven cleaner following oven cleaner manufacturer's instructions.

FRIGIDAIRE FFEF4015LW - To Clean the Oven Bottom - 1

CAUTION

DO NOT line the oven walls, bottom, racks or any other part of the appliance with aluminum foil. Doing so will destroy heat distribution, produce poor baking results and cause permanent damage to the oven interior (aluminum foil will melt to the interior surface of the oven).

CARE & CLEANING

Surface Elements and Drip Bowls

Surface elements can be unplugged and removed to make cleaning the drip pans easier. The surface elements clean themselves when they are turned on. Food spilled on a hot element will burn off. Food spilled on a cool element may be cleaned with a damp cloth—any remaining soil will burn off the next time the element is used. Never immerse a surface element in water.

To Remove the Surface Elements and Drip Bowls

  1. Lift up edge of surface element across from terminal end. Lift just enough to clear edge of the drip bowl.
  2. Gently slide the surface element out of the terminal plug.
  3. Lift the drip bowl up and out.

FRIGIDAIRE FFEF4015LW - To Remove the Surface Elements and Drip Bowls - 1

CAUTION

Be sure the range is cool before removing elements or drip bowls. Be careful not to bend terminal ends when replacing elements after cleaning.

text_image Hold Down Clip (if equipped) Element Support Allow Element Support to rest on drip pan inside rim. Terminal End Terminal Plug

To Clean Drip Bowls

Wash in hot, soapy water or in the dishwasher. Rinse and dry while still warm. Hard to remove, burned on soil can be removed by soaking the drip bowls for about 20 minutes in a lightly diluted liquid cleanser or a solution of ammonia and water (1/2 cup ammonia to 1 gallon of water). A nylon scrubber may be used after soaking. DO NOT use abrasive cleaners or steel wool, as they will scratch the surface. Always rinse with clean water and polish dry with a soft cloth.

To Replace Drip Bowls and Surface Elements

  1. Slide the terminal end on the element through the opening in the drip bowl.
  2. Align the element support to rest on the rim inside the drip bowl. If your drip bowl is equipped with a hold down clip, align the element support opposite the terminal end with the slot in the hold down clip, and snap into place.
  3. After the element is positioned in the drip bowl, line up the terminal end with the terminal plug as shown.
  4. Hold the surface element and drip bowl together as level as possible and firmly push the terminal end into the terminal plug. Make sure element terminal is seated properly into terminal plug. Make sure the surface element is level to reduce the hazard of pans sliding off the element.

To Raise the Top for Cleaning (Some Models Only)

  1. Grasp the sides and lift from the front. Lift-up rod will support the top in its raised position. Only lift the top high enough to allow the support rod to rest in place under the front of the cooktop.
  2. Clean underneath using a clean cloth and hot, soapy water.
  3. To lower the top, lift the top slightly and lower the rod. Lower the range top into the range frame.

IMPORTANT

Before you call for service, review this list. It may save you time and expense. The list includes common occurrences that are not the result of defective workmanship or materials in this appliance.

OCCURRENCE POSSIBLE CAUSE/ SOLUTION

Range is not level.Poor installation. Place oven rack in center of oven. Place a level on the oven rack. Adjust leveling legs at base of range until the rack is level. When range is level, cooktop may appear out of alignment if countertop is not level.
Weak, unstable floor. Be sure floor is level and can adequately support range. If floor is sagging or slopping, contact a carpenter to correct the situation.
Kitchen cabinet misalignment may make range appear to be unlevel. Be sure cabinets are square and have sufficient room for range clearance.
Cannot move appliance easily. Appliance must be accessible for service.Cabinets not square or are built in too tight. Contact a cabinet maker to correct the problem.
Contact builder or installer to make appliance accessible.
Carpet interferes with range. Provide sufficient space so range can be lifted over carpet.
Entire range or oven does not operate.Make sure cord/plug is plugged tightly into outlet.
Service wiring is not complete. Call an authorized servicer.
Electrical power outage. Check house lights to be sure. Call your local electric company for service.
Oven control beeps and displays any F code error (ex.: F10)Electronic control has detected a fault condition. Press CLEAR to clear the display and stop beeping. Reprogram oven. If fault recurs, record fault number. Press CLEAR and call an authorized servicer for assistance.
Oven light does not work.Replace or tighten bulb. See Changing Oven Light section in this Use & Care Guide.
Electrical power outage. Check house lights to be sure. Call your local electric company for service.
Surface unit does not heat.No power to the appliance. Check steps under "Entire Range or Oven Does Not Operate" in this Before you Call checklist.
Incorrect control setting. Make sure the correct control is on for the surface unit to be used.
Surface units too hot or not hot enough.Incorrect control setting. Make sure the correct control is on for the surface unit to be used.
Lightweight or warped pans used. Use only flat, evenly balanced, medium or heavyweight cookware. Flat pans heat better than warped pans. Cookware materials and weight of the material affect heating. Heavy-and medium-weight pans heat evenly. Because lightweight pans heat unevenly, foods may burn easily.
Metalmarks.Sliding or scraping of metal utensils on cooktop surface. Do not slide metal utensils on cooktop surface. Use a ceramic-glass cooktop cleaning cream to remove the marks. "Cooktop Cleaning - Ceramic Glass Cooktop Models" section under General Cleaning.
Scratches or abrasions on cooktop surface.Coarse particles such as salt or sand between cooktop and utensils can cause scratches. Be sure cooktop surface and bottoms of utensils are clean before usage. Small scratches do not affect cooking and will become less visible with time.
Cleaning materials not recommended for ceramic-glass cooktop have been used. See "Cooktop Cleaning - Ceramic Glass Cooktop Models" section under General Cleaning.
Cookware with rough bottom has been used. Use smooth, flat-bottomed cookware.
Brown streaks or specks.Boilovers are cooked onto surface. Use razor blade scraper to remove soil. "Cooktop Cleaning - Ceramic Glass Cooktop Models" section under General Cleaning.

BEFORE YOU CALL (Solutions to Common Problems)

OCCURRENCE POSSIBLE CAUSE/ SOLUTION
Areas of discoloration with metallic sheen.Mineral deposits from water and food. Remove using a ceramic-glass cooktop cleaning cream. Use cookware with clean, dry bottoms.
Poor baking results. Many factors affect baking results. Make sure the proper rack position is used. Center food in the oven and space pans to allow air to circulate. Allow the oven to preheat to the set temperature before placing food in the oven. Try adjusting the recipes' recommended temperature or baking time. If you feel the oven is too hot or cool, see "Adjusting Your Oven Temperature" section in the Electronic Oven Control Guide.
Fan noise during cooking operation.A cooling fan may automatically turn on and off to cool internal parts. It is normal, and the fan may continue to run even after oven is turned off.
Flames inside oven or smoking from vent.Excessive spillovers in oven. Set self-clean cycle for a longer cleaning time.
Excessive spillovers in oven. This is normal, especially for pie spillovers or large amounts of grease on the oven bottom. Wipe up excessive spillovers before starting the self-clean cycle. If flames or excessive smoke are present, stop the self-clean cycle and follow the steps under "Stopping or Interrupting the Self-Cleaning Cycle" in the Electronic Oven Control Guide.
Oven smokes excessively during broiling.Control(s) not set properly. Follow instructions under "Setting Oven Controls".
Make sure oven is opened to Broil Stop Position.
Meat too close to the element. Reposition the rack to provide proper clearance between the meat and the element. Preheat broil element. Preheat broil element for searing.
Grid on broiler pan wrong side up and grease not draining. Always place grid on the broiler pan with ribs up and slots down to allow grease to drip into pan.
Grease has built up on oven surfaces. Regular cleaning is necessary when broiling frequently. Old grease or food spatters cause excessive smoking.
Control(s) not set properly. Follow instructions under "Oven Cleaning" in the Electronic Oven Control Guide.
Self-cleaning cycle does not work.Control(s) not set properly. Follow instructions under "Oven Cleaning" in the Electronic Oven Control Guide.
Self-cleaning cycle was interrupted. Stop time must be 2 to 4 hours past the start time. Follow steps under "Stopping or Interrupting the Self-Cleaning Cycle" in the Electronic Oven Control Guide.
Soil not completely removed after self-cleaning cycle.Set Self-Clean cycle for a longer cleaning time.
Failure to clean bottom front, top of oven or door areas outside oven seal. These areas are not in the Self-Cleaning area, but get hot enough to burn on food residue. Clean these areas before starting the Self-Clean cycle. Burned-on residue may be cleaned with a stiff nylon brush and water or nylon scrubber. Be careful not to damage the oven gasket.
Drip bowls are pitting or rusting.Foods with acids, such as tomatoes, if allowed to stand in/on bowls will cause corrosion. Remove and wash drip bowls as soon as possible after a spillover.
Normal environment. Houses along sea coast are exposed to salt air. Protect bowls as much as possible from direct exposure to salt air.
Drip bowls turning color or distorted out of shape.Bottom surface of cookware extends beyond surface elements and touches cooktop surface. This can cause high enough temperatures to discolor the drip bowls. DO NOT use cookware of this type. Pan sizes should be matched to the size of the element. Replacement drip bowls may be purchased from your dealer.
