Frequently Asked Questions - Retro 21673 RUSSELL HOBBS

How do I clean the filter of my Russell Hobbs Retro 21673 kettle?
To clean the filter, remove the lid and push the hook on top of the filter down, then lift it out. Rinse under running tap water while brushing with a soft brush. Reinsert by engaging the bottom hook in the spout and pressing the top to lock.
How often should I descale my kettle and which descaler should I use?
Descale at least monthly using a proprietary descaler. Follow the instructions on the descaler product. Failure to descale may affect performance and warranty.
What does the water temperature gauge do?
The water temperature gauge constantly shows the current temperature inside the kettle. It is useful for making drinks that require specific temperatures, such as green tea (70-80°C) or coffee (90-96°C). The gauge only works when there is at least 1 cup of water.
What happens if the kettle boils dry?
The kettle has a boil dry protection feature that automatically switches it off. Unplug the kettle and let it cool until the safety cut-out resets. Repeated boil dry use may shorten element life.
Is the kettle safe for children to use?
Children aged 8 and above can use the kettle if supervised and instructed about hazards. Children under 8 should be kept away from the appliance and its cord. Cleaning and maintenance must not be done by children unless supervised.
Can I use the kettle without a lid?
No, always fit the lid when boiling to prevent steam escape and ensure proper shut-off. Using without lid may cause spitting or inaccurate temperature readings.
How do I register for the extra year warranty?
Register online at www.russellhobbs.co.uk/productregister/ within 28 days of purchase. Provide proof of purchase. The extra year adds to the standard 2-year guarantee.
Why is there moisture on the base after boiling?
Moisture on the stand is normal and caused by steam condensing when the kettle switches off automatically. It is not a fault.
What should I do if the kettle stops working?
Check the power cord, plug fuse, and main circuit breaker. If it still doesn't work, consult the retailer or contact Russell Hobbs Customer Service at 0345 658 9700. Do not attempt to repair yourself.
Can I use the kettle with other liquids?
No, use only for heating water. Using other liquids may damage the kettle and void the warranty.
