Frequently Asked Questions - KTX-H12 ALPINE

How do I wire the Alpine KTX-H12 subwoofer?
The KTX-H12 has a single 4-ohm voice coil. Connect the positive terminal to the amplifier's positive output and the negative terminal to the amplifier's negative output. Ensure the amplifier is stable at 4 ohms.
What is the recommended enclosure size for this subwoofer?
For a sealed enclosure, use 1.0 cubic foot. For a ported enclosure, use 1.5 cubic feet with a 4-inch port. Always check the manual for exact specifications.
What is the RMS power handling of the KTX-H12?
The RMS power handling is 300 watts. It can handle up to 1000 watts peak. Match your amplifier's RMS output to 300 watts for best performance.
Can I use this subwoofer in a car?
Yes, the Alpine KTX-H12 is designed for car audio use. It works well in both sealed and ported enclosures. Ensure proper mounting and ventilation.
How do I break in the subwoofer?
Play the subwoofer at low volume (about 25% of RMS power) for 20-30 hours. This loosens the suspension and improves sound quality. Avoid high power during break-in.
What is the impedance of the KTX-H12?
The impedance is 4 ohms (single voice coil). It is not a dual voice coil model. Connect to a 4-ohm stable amplifier.
Is this a dual voice coil subwoofer?
No, the Alpine KTX-H12 has a single 4-ohm voice coil. For dual voice coil options, see other Alpine models like the Type-R series.
How should I clean the subwoofer?
Wipe the cone and surround with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use water, solvents, or cleaners. Keep the subwoofer dry to prevent damage.
What is the mounting depth of this subwoofer?
The mounting depth is 6.25 inches (159 mm). Ensure your enclosure has enough internal depth to accommodate it, including clearance for the magnet.
Does the KTX-H12 come with a grille?
No, the subwoofer does not include a grille. You can purchase an aftermarket grille for protection. Ensure it does not obstruct the cone movement.
