Frequently Asked Questions - FXTHP6NLDSNM012 Panduit

How do I change the MPO gender (male to female or vice versa)?
Squeeze both sides of the outer housing at the back end evenly until you hear an audible click, then pull off the connector. Locate the hole in the inner housing on the slotted side and position the pin retraction tool over the hole. Insert the tool, press down gently, and push backward to retract the connector pins to the female state. Repeat in the opposite direction to extract pins for male state. Re-install the outer housing ensuring the key is in the proper orientation.
How do I change the polarity on the LC Uniboot connector?
Squeeze both sides of the LC Uniboot cover evenly and pull back to disengage the tab on the opposite side. Slide the cover back away from the connectors and rotate it 180°. Then rotate each LC connector downward 180°. Re-install the cover until you hear an audible click.
Can I use a cable tie to secure the cable transition to a rack?
Yes. The slot features in the cable transition allow for the use of a Tak-Ty (cable tie) to secure the cable harness to a rack feature such as cable management fingers, or to more robustly secure multiple cable transitions that are interlocked together.
What tool is required for changing MPO gender?
A pin retraction tool is required. This tool is inserted into the hole on the slotted side of the inner housing to retract or extract the pins.
Where can I find installation instructions in other languages?
Visit www.panduit.com/resources/install_maintain.asp for instructions in local languages and technical support.
Is this cable compatible with standard MPO adapters?
Yes, the MPO connector is designed to work with standard MPO adapters and cassettes, provided the polarity and gender are correctly configured.
What is the typical fiber count for this model?
While the manual does not specify, the model number and typical Panduit configurations suggest a 12-fiber MPO to 2x6 LC Uniboot duplex breakout cable. Check the product label for exact fiber count.
Can multiple cable transitions be used together?
Yes, multiple cable transitions can be interlocked together and further secured using Tak-Ty cable ties for a robust installation.
How do I clean the connectors?
Use a lint-free wipe moistened with isopropyl alcohol to gently clean the ferrule end faces. Avoid touching the end faces after cleaning. For MPO connectors, use a specialized cleaning tool if available.
What is the recommended bend radius for this cable?
To avoid signal loss or damage, do not bend the cable tighter than 10 times the cable diameter. For typical 2.0 mm cable, the minimum bend radius is 20 mm.
