Frequently Asked Questions - VX-1652H SHARP

How do I replace the paper roll?

Lift the paper holder, insert a new paper roll from the left side with paper feeding from the bottom. Feed the leading edge into the opening, press the paper feed key, and cut the paper using the cutter.

What does the error symbol 'E' mean?

The 'E' symbol indicates an overflow or error condition, such as exceeding the digit capacity (10 digits for VX-1652H), division by zero, or memory overflow. Press CE or C to clear the error.

How do I set the decimal point?

Use the DECIMAL SELECTOR switch to choose a fixed decimal place (0-4) or 'F' for floating decimal. In addition mode, the decimal is automatically positioned based on the selector.

How do I store a tax rate?

Press the STORE key, enter the tax rate (up to 4 digits, decimal point not counted), then press the TAX+ key. Only one rate can be stored at a time.

How do I use the memory functions?

Use M+ to add, M- to subtract, RM to recall, and CM to clear. There are two independent memories (first and second) indicated by 'M' and 'Ⅰ' symbols.

What type of paper does the calculator use?

It uses standard 57mm wide adding machine paper rolls. Ensure the paper feeds from the bottom of the roll.

How do I perform percentage calculations?

Enter the base number, press × or ÷, enter the percentage, then press %. For add-on or discount, use the TAX+ or TAX- keys after storing the rate.

Can I use the calculator without printing?

Yes, you can set the PRINT MODE SELECTOR to 'N' (non-print) to disable printing while calculations are still displayed.

How do I clean the calculator?

Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use solvents, wet cloth, or any liquids as they may cause damage.

What should I do if the calculator doesn't turn on?

Check that the power cord is securely connected to the calculator and a working electrical outlet. Ensure the voltage matches the rating on the calculator. If it still doesn't work, contact a Sharp servicing dealer.

To insure trouble-free operation of your SHARP calculator, we recommend the following: 1. The calculator should be kept in areas free from extreme temperature changes, moisture, and dust. 2. A soft, dry cloth should be used to clean the calculator. Do not use solvents or a wet cloth. 3. Since this product is not waterproof, do not use it or store it where fluids, for example water, can splash onto it. Raindrops, water spray, juice, coffee, steam, perspiration, etc. will also cause malfunction. 4. If you are not going to use the calculator for a time period, please pull out the power cord to cut electricity completely. In this case, the presently stored tax/discount rate will be cleared. 5. If service should be required on this equipment, use only a SHARP servicing dealer, a SHARP approved service facility or SHARP repair service where available. 6. Do not wind the AC cord around the body or otherwise forcibly bend or twist it.

Non-Add - When this key is pressed right after entry of a number in the Print mode, the entry is printed on the left-hand side with "#". This key is used to print out numbers not subject to calculations such as codes, dates, etc.

Subtotal - Used to get subtotal(s) of additions and/or subtractions. When pressed following ± or - , the subtotal is printed with "◇" and the calculation may be continued.

By pressing this key even in the Non-print mode, the displayed number is printed with "P".

1. Lift the paper holder up. (Fig. 1)
2. Fold the leading edge of the paper roll 3 to 5 cm. (Do not fold it slantwise.) (Fig. 2)
3. Insert the paper roll from the left side of the paper holder and make sure the paper roll is set in the proper direction (with the paper feeding from the bottom), (Fig. 3)
4. Insert the leading edge of the paper into the open directly behind the print mechanism. (Fig. 4)
5. Press the paper feed key and feed the paper under the edge of the paper cutter. (Fig. 5)
