Frequently Asked Questions - EL-6460 SHARP
How do I replace the ink roller?
To replace the ink roller, first remove the paper roll. Open the printer cover, lift the ink roller out, and insert a new one (model IR-40T). Ensure it clicks into place, then reinstall the paper and close the cover.
How do I change the paper roll?
Lift the paper arm and remove the old roll. Place a new 58 mm thermal paper roll on the arm, insert the paper into the slot under the printer, and press Feed until it appears correctly.
How do I set the decimal selector?
Use the slide switch marked F, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, ADD to choose the number of decimal places. F gives floating decimals, ADD automatically adds two decimals for money calculations.
How do I use the cost/sell/margin function?
Enter two of the three values (cost, sell, margin) and press the corresponding key. For example, enter cost, press Sell, input the sell price, then press Margin to calculate the profit margin.
How do I use the grand total (GT) function?
The Grand Total automatically accumulates totals of each independent calculation. Press GT to recall the accumulated amount, and press GT again to clear it.
How do I set the tax rate?
Press and hold the Tax key, then enter the desired rate (e.g., 20) and press Tax again. The rate is saved and used for all tax calculations.
What AC adapter is required?
Use a SHARP EA-69A AC adapter (or equivalent: 6V DC, 500 mA). Using an incorrect adapter can damage the calculator.
Why does the display show "E"?
An E error indicates a calculation overflow or division by zero. Press C or CE to clear the error and reset the calculator.
How do I clean the calculator?
Turn off the calculator and wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners. For the printer head, use a cotton swab lightly moistened with isopropyl alcohol.
Can the calculator operate on batteries?
Yes, but batteries only power the display memory; the main printer and display operations require the AC adapter. Install 2x AAA batteries as backup to preserve settings.
