First of all, many thanks for purchasing this Sweex LAN PCI Card. To ensure this product operates correctly, we advise you to carefully read this manual first. If despite this manual you still experience problems during installation or operation of this product, go to www.sweex.com and look under the heading service & support.

We advise you to ensure that the PC operating system is up-to-date before starting the installation. This is easy to check by starting up "Internet Explorer" and selecting the option "Windows Update" in the "Extra" menu. This Sweex LAN PCI Card is fully supported by Windows Microsoft®, Windows® XP, Windows Vista®, Windows® 7.

Installation of hardware

Take the following precautionary measures prior to installing the hardware:

  • Ensure the PC is switched off and not connected to the mains or any other power supply.
  • Also, disconnect the printer and monitor cables (they have their own power supply) to make absolutely sure that the PC is not live.
    • Now unscrew the computer casing.
  • Subsequently, remove any static electricity you may carry on your body. Do this by touching a (neutral) pipe of the central heating system or an unpainted water pipe, among other things. Please note that you must not use a magnetic screwdriver for this. Before you proceed any further, shortly touch the iron frame of the PC casing. Make sure that you minimise contact with any contact points of the PC Card or the memory.
  • Find a vacant PCI slot and remove the metal guard plate part of the computer casing in front of the relevant slot. On occasion the card does not allow to be inserted in the PCI slot smoothly. Should this be the case, do not force anything, but try another available slot.
  • Once the card has been successfully installed, check whether all other cards are still properly inserted in the PCI slots. It is possible that the other PCI cards are lifted up slightly when installing a new PCI card; as a result, the relevant cards or even the entire PC may no longer operate correctly.
  • Replace the casing on the computer base and correctly reconnect all cables.
  • Switch on the PC again.

Installation Windows Microsoft®, Windows® XP, Windows Vista®, Windows® 7

Start the PC once the hardware installation has been completed. Windows will automatically detect the Sweex LAN PCI Card 10/100 Mbps. No drivers are required for installation under Microsoft® Windows® XP, Windows Vista®, Windows® 7 as they are all present within the operating system, provided it is up-to-date. If Windows nevertheless indicates that the hardware must be installed, follow the following procedure:

Click 'Next' in the corresponding screen which will appear automatically. Now select the option 'Search for the best driver' and click 'Next'. In the next screen, select the CD-ROM Driver as the location for the search to be carried out. Windows will locate the driver on the CD-ROM (if not, it can also be found on the CD-ROM — Drivers via 'Specify a location'. Subsequently, select 'Use the updated driver' and click 'Next'. The hardware has been installed successfully and is ready to be used.

Matters that are excluded from the warranty

The warranty of Sweex only covers manufacturing defects. Excluded from the warranty are accessories like batteries, rechargeable batteries and also supplied software, where applicable.

The liability of Sweex is limited to the costs of repair and/or replacement of the product covered by the warranty.

The standard warranty is null and void if the product has been opened, changes have been made, physical damage was caused to the product and if the product is used for another purpose than for which it is originally meant.
