How to use the griddle for the first time?

Before first use, clean the griddle with a damp cloth. Plug in the appliance, set the thermostat to a low setting and let it heat up without food. A slight smoke may occur, this is normal. Ensure good ventilation and keep birds away.

What do the thermostat positions mean?

Positions 1 to 5 correspond to increasing temperatures: 1 = approximately 180°C, 2 = 200°C, 3 = 220°C, 4 = 240°C, 5 = 260°C. Choose the temperature according to the food to be grilled.

Can metal utensils be used on the griddle?

No, it is not recommended to use sharp or metal objects as they may damage the non-stick coating. Use wooden, silicone or heat-resistant plastic utensils instead.

How to clean the griddle?

Unplug the appliance and let it cool completely. Remove the thermostat. Clean the griddle with a damp cloth and a little mild detergent. Dry thoroughly. Never immerse the connector, thermostat, cord or plug in water.

Why does the griddle emit smoke and odor during first use?

It's normal. The heating elements and non-stick coating may produce a slight smoke and characteristic odor during the first heating. This disappears after a few uses. Make sure to ventilate the room well.

Can I leave the griddle unattended while in use?

No, it is not recommended to leave the appliance unattended while it is on. The surfaces become very hot and there is a risk of burns or fire. Always monitor cooking.

What to do if the power cord is damaged?

Do not use the appliance. Have the cord replaced by a qualified professional. Contact Bestron customer service for a replacement thermostat or repair.

Can the griddle be used for all types of food?

Yes, it is suitable for grilling meats, fish, vegetables, etc. However, avoid melting plastic or highly acidic foods that could damage the coating.

How to store the griddle after use?

Let it cool completely, remove the thermostat and wipe the griddle. Store it in a dry place, away from dust. Avoid placing heavy objects on top to prevent deforming the surface.

The appliance makes noise during cooking, is it normal?

A slight operating noise is normal, due to thermal expansion. If the noise is loud or abnormal, unplug the appliance and contact after-sales service.

OPERATION - General

OPERATION - Before first use

1. Remove the grill from the packaging, and remove all packaging materials.
2. Clean the grill plate before using the appliance for the first time (see 'Cleaning and maintenance').

WARNING:

• The appliance may emit a little smoke and a characteristic smell when you switch it on for the first time. This is normal and will stop on its own. Make sure the appliance has sufficient ventilation.
• Keep house birds away from the appliance when it is in use. Fumes released from the non-stick coating are harmful to birds.

OPERATION - Preheating

1. Put the appliance on a level and heat-resistant surface.
2. Insert the thermostat completely into the connection socket of the grill plate. Only the supplied cord with thermostat may be used.
3. Put the plug in the wall socket.
4. Adjust the thermostat dial to the required temperature (position 1 through 5). The indicator light on the thermostat will illuminate to show that the heating element has been switched on.

1. After waiting a few minutes check whether the indicator light is extinguished.
2. Once the indicator light has extinguished the appliance has reached the required temperature, and is ready for use. During use the heating element will switch on and off to keep the temperature of the grill plate constant. Consequently the indicator light will also occasionally be illuminated.

OPERATION - Grilling

1. Allow the grill plate to preheat (see 'Preheating').
2. If so required, grease the grill plate with a little oil.
3. Place the food you wish to grill on the grill plate.
4. Grill the food until it is cooked. Turn the food over occasionally whilst it is being grilled to ensure that both sides are evenly cooked.
5. Remove the food from the grill plate and place on a plate. Take care! The food is hot.

OPERATION - After use

1. Turn the thermostat dial to the "0" position.
2. Remove the plug from the wall socket.
3. Let the appliance cool down fully.
4. Remove the thermostat by holding the appliance's handle with one hand and pulling the thermostat out of the socket with the other hand. Make sure you do not touch the appliance's metal socket; it may still be hot. Always hold the thermostat by the plastic section.

WARNING:

• The metal pin fitted to the thermostat can be very hot.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Clean the grill plate after each use.

1. Remove the plug from the wall socket, allow the appliance to cool down completely, and pull the thermostat out of the socket.
2. Clean the grill plate and the base with a damp cloth, if necessary moistened with a couple of drops of washing-up liquid.
3. Dry the grill plate and the base thoroughly.

WARNING:

• Verify that the appliance is not connected to the power supply before you start to clean it.
• Never use corrosive or scouring cleaning agents or sharp objects (such as knives or hard brushes) to clean the appliance.
• Never immerse the socket, thermostat, plug or power cord in water or other liquid.

RAD - PRIJE PRVE UPORABE

ČIŠĆENJE I ODRŽAVANJE

Očistite ploču za roštilj nakon svake upotrebe.

1. Izvucite utikač iz zidne utičnice, ostavite uređaj da se potpuno ohladi i izvucite termostat iz utičnice.
