Frequently Asked Questions - MC-1GSFP AIRLIVE

What is the AirLive MC-1GSFP used for?
The AirLive MC-1GSFP is a Gigabit media converter that converts between copper Ethernet (RJ45) and fiber optic (SFP) connections, extending network distances up to 100 km depending on SFP module.
Which SFP modules are compatible with the MC-1GSFP?
It supports standard 1000Base-SX (multimode) and 1000Base-LX (single-mode) SFP modules. Use any brand compatible with 1.25 Gbps and IEEE 802.3z.
Can I use the MC-1GSFP as a standalone device or does it need a chassis?
It is a standalone media converter and can be used directly with its external power adapter. No chassis required.
What is the maximum distance supported?
The RJ45 copper port supports up to 100 meters. The fiber distance depends on the SFP module: up to 550m for multimode and up to 10-100 km for single-mode.
Does the MC-1GSFP support PoE?
No, the device does not support Power over Ethernet. It requires an external power adapter (5V DC).
How do I connect the MC-1GSFP?
Connect the RJ45 port to your Ethernet device, insert a compatible SFP module into the SFP slot, and connect the fiber cable. Then plug in the power adapter.
Are there any dip switches for settings?
Typically, the MC-1GSFP is plug-and-play with no user-configurable switches. It automatically negotiates speed and duplex on the copper port.
What do the LED indicators mean?
Power LED: solid when powered. Link/Act (Fiber): solid for link, blinking for activity. Link/Act (Copper): solid for link, blinking for activity.
Can I use the MC-1GSFP in a high-temperature environment?
The operating temperature range is 0°C to 50°C. Avoid placing in direct sunlight or near heat sources.
Is the device compatible with 1000Base-T full duplex?
Yes, the copper port supports 1000Base-T full duplex as per IEEE 802.3ab.

MC-10GSFP+

Media Converter (MC-1GSFP, MC-10GSFP+)

The AirLive MC-1G SFP Gigabit media converter allows users to extend communication distance with Gigabit performance via fiber optic, Single or Multi mode SFP transceivers auto-negotiation. It provides media conversion between 100/1000Base-T and Gigabit Fiber via various SFP transceivers for example like the AirLive SPF-LX-1.25G-20KM module. Connect different offices together over a longer distance using fiber.

The MC-10GSFP+ Multi Giga Media Converter provides 10Gbps Ethernet media conversion between SFP+ to UTP. It brings you the best and simple solution for the Ethernet conversion between copper wire and fiber, with the speed of 10G. It allows users to extend communication distance. Connect different offices together over a longer distance using a high-speed fiber connection.

Compact size converter

The Compact Size MC-1GSFP/MC-10GSFP+ have a standalone design with plug-and-play for easy installation and space saving.
