Frequently Asked Questions - TR 55 LCD Reka

What type of glue can I use with the Reka TR 55 LCD?
The TR 55 LCD is designed for hot-melt granulate, pillows, and 43 mm sticks or slugs with a viscosity range of 2,000 to 15,000 mPas. For glues outside this range, performance may be limited.
How do I set the working temperature on the TR 55 LCD?
Press the button to turn temperature control on or off. To raise temperature, press the button until the desired temperature is displayed, then press once to confirm. To lower, press the button until desired temp appears and confirm. Two dots appear behind the first two digits during adjustment.
What safety precautions should I take when using the glue gun?
Always wear protective gloves and safety goggles. Never direct the glue jet towards people. Keep the nozzle pointed downward. Do not lay the applicator on its side. Unplug before changing nozzles. If hot glue contacts skin, cool with cold water immediately; do not remove adhesive. Seek medical attention if necessary.
Why is glue leaking from the nozzle?
Minor leakage during heat-up is normal due to expansion. If persistent, check if the silencer/vent valve (SEV) is clogged. Clean the vent valve and replace the silencer if needed. Also check for foreign objects in the nozzle or a stuck piston in cartridge models.
How do I clean the glue gun?
For standard glues, the applicator seldom needs cleaning if used properly. Lower heating temperature during breaks to prevent coking. Never use solvents or flammable materials. For PUR glues, use a special cleaning cartridge: remove the old cartridge, attach a cleaner cartridge, warm for 20 minutes, then flush the nozzle adapter until clean cleaner comes out.
What does the flashing display mean?
When the applicator is heating up to the set temperature, the numbers on the LCD display flash. Once the set temperature is reached, the display becomes steady.
How do I load glue into the tank?
Wait until the applicator is warm. Turn the star grip (item 6) anti-clockwise and open the lid upward. Fill the tank up to max. 1.5 cm below the upper rim with hot-melt granulate, pillows, or sticks. Close the lid by turning the star grip clockwise. Allow 3-10 minutes for melting.
What should I do if the glue is too thin or too thick?
Check the temperature setting. If the glue is too thin, the temperature may be too high; if too thick, it may be too low. Adjust the temperature accordingly. Also ensure the glue viscosity is within the recommended range.
How do I replace the nozzle?
Unplug the connecting cable first. Only replace nozzles when the applicator is warm (60-80°C) and the glue tank is empty. Use protective gloves and safety goggles. Unscrew the old nozzle and screw on a new one. Do not replace when cold or too hot to avoid damage or burns.
Can I use PUR hot-melt cartridges in the TR 55 LCD?
No, the TR 55 LCD is designed for granulate, pillows, and sticks. For PUR cartridges, use models TR 700, TR 70, or TR 80. The TR 55 LCD has a tank capacity of 330 ml, not a cartridge holder.
