Frequently Asked Questions - MCT-005A Jocel

How do I assemble the Jocel MCT-005A barbecue?
Refer to the included manual. Typically, attach the legs to the base, insert the ash tray, place the charcoal grate, and attach the cooking grid. Use the provided screws and tools.
What type of charcoal should I use?
Standard lump charcoal or briquettes are suitable. Avoid using lighter fluid alternatives; use a chimney starter for best results.
How long does it take to preheat the grill?
Preheating typically takes 15-20 minutes for charcoal to ash over and reach cooking temperature (around 230°C / 450°F).
Can I use the barbecue in windy conditions?
It is not recommended as wind can cause uneven heat and flare-ups. If necessary, place the grill in a sheltered area and adjust vents accordingly.
How do I clean the cooking grid?
After each use, brush the grid with a wire brush while still warm. For deep cleaning, remove the grid and wash with warm soapy water, then rinse and dry thoroughly.
How often should I replace the grill grid?
Replace when signs of rust or warping appear, typically every 1-2 years depending on usage and maintenance.
Is the barbecue safe to use on a wooden deck?
Always place the barbecue on a non-flammable surface. Use a grill mat or heat-resistant pad to protect wooden decks from sparks and heat.
How do I control the temperature?
Adjust the air vents on the bottom and lid. Open vents increase heat, closed vents reduce it. Use a grill thermometer to monitor internal temperature.
What spare parts are available for this model?
Replacement grill grids, ash trays, and leg sets are available. Contact Jocel customer service or check online retailers.
Does the barbecue come with a warranty?
Yes, the Jocel MCT-005A includes a 1-year limited warranty covering manufacturing defects. Retain your proof of purchase.

The unit heats up automatically to the set temperature and then turns the heat off. The control light comes on while it is heating up. Should the temperature fall below the set temperature the unit heats up again and the control light comes on again. Thus a constant temperature is maintained.
The grill rack can be placed at various heights to ensure the optimum distance between the food and the heating element.
Power consumption depends on the thermostat setting. For lengthy grilling it is advisable to set the temperature as high as possible.

Do not move the unit until it has cooled down.
