Frequently Asked Questions - VX-792C SHARP

How do I clear the calculator and reset all settings?

Press the CA key to clear the current calculation and reset the display to zero. To clear all stored formulas and memory, turn the calculator off and on, or press CA twice if needed. If "0.E" is displayed, all calculation formulas in memory are automatically cleared.

How can I set and use the tax rate?

To set a tax rate (e.g., 5%), press SET then enter the rate number (e.g., 5) and press %. To confirm the current rate, press SET then %. For tax-inclusive calculation, enter the amount and press TAX+; for tax-exclusive, enter the total and press TAX-. The rate can be up to four digits (decimal not counted).

What is the Playback function and how do I use it?

The Playback function allows you to review entered calculation steps. Press PLAYBACK to recall steps in order; press SHIFT + PLAYBACK (or similar) to reverse. AUTO PLAYBACK automatically scrolls through steps. Use it to verify or modify entries.

How do I correct a mistake in a multi-step calculation?

Use the CORRECT, INSERT, and DELETE functions. For example, to replace a value, press CORRECT until the step is highlighted, then enter the new number. To insert a step, press INS and enter the missing operation. To delete, press DEL on the unwanted step.

What is the Answer Check (Comparison) feature?

After calculating a result, if you recompute the same formula and the answer matches the previous one, the display shows OK. This confirms consistency. Press CA to clear the previous result and disable comparison. Note: Not available for tax or change calculations.

How do I replace the battery?

When the display dims, replace the CR2032 lithium battery. Turn off the calculator, remove the battery cover, take out the old battery, insert a new one with the positive side up, and replace the cover. Dispose of old batteries properly. California users: perchlorate material may apply.

Can I use the calculator with only solar power?

Yes, the calculator has a built-in solar cell. In bright light, it can operate without the battery. However, the lithium battery is needed for dim light conditions and to retain settings like tax rate.

What does the 'Change' key do?

The CHANGE key calculates the amount of change when you enter the amount paid. First enter the purchase price, press −, enter the amount paid, then press CHANGE. For example, pay $130 for $126 purchase: enter 126, press −, enter 130, press CHANGE → shows $4.00.

How many calculation steps can be stored?

The calculator can store up to 102 calculation steps. Steps include each number and operation entered. If you exceed this limit, an error may occur; clear the memory to continue.

What is the 'Last Answer' function?

The last result obtained by pressing = is automatically stored. You can recall it by pressing ANS (or similar key) in a new calculation. For example, after 1+7=8, to compute 64×21+7, press 64×21+ANS=.

LAST ANSWER FUNCTION

This function stores the result of the last calculation (result obtained by pressing =).

By pressing ☐, a new calculation is performed. Therefore, the number stored in the last answer memory changes to "16" since it is the newest calculation result.

The last answer function uses only one memory location to store one number. This memory is always stored with the latest calculation result.

ANSWER CHECK (COMPARISON)

1. If the answer obtained with = , % agrees with the succeeding tested result, "OK" will be displayed.
2. Pressing CA will clear the previous calculated result, disabling the comparison.
3. Comparison with the counter or values of memory calculation, or comparison during calculation process will not be performed.
4. The Answer Check function is not available for tax rate calculations and change calculations.

• To perform a tax calculation, first it is absolutely necessary to set and check the tax rate. (The initial tax rate is 0.) - A tax rate can be set (or changed) with a number containing up to four digits. (Decimal point is not regarded as a digit.) - The set tax rate is retained until it is changed. However, the set tax rate may be changed or lost if the battery is consumed largely.
