Frequently Asked Questions - VP29 Music Hall

What type of turntable cartridge is compatible with the VP29?
The VP29 is designed for magnetic phono pickups (moving magnet). It will not work with ceramic or crystal cartridges.
How do I connect the VP29 to my turntable and amplifier?
Connect the turntable's RCA cables to the INPUT jacks and connect the ground wire to the GROUND terminal. Then connect the OUTPUT jacks (RCA or 1/4" TRS) to your amplifier or receiver.
What power supply does the VP29 require?
It requires a DC power supply of 12-18 VDC with a tip negative polarity. Use the included adapter or one with at least 100mA.
Can I use the VP29 with a powered speaker?
Yes, the VP29 outputs line-level signal, so you can connect it directly to powered speakers or an amplifier's line input.
Why is there no sound or very low volume?
Check that the turntable is connected to the INPUT jacks, the ground wire is secured, and the power is on. Make sure the output is connected to a line-level input, not a phono input.
Does the VP29 need a ground connection?
Yes, connecting the turntable's ground wire to the GROUND terminal helps reduce hum and noise.
What is the frequency response of the VP29?
The frequency response is +/- 1.5 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, conforming to the RIAA equalization curve.
Can I use both RCA and 1/4" outputs simultaneously?
Yes, you can use both outputs at the same time to connect to multiple devices.
What is the input impedance of the VP29?
The input impedance is 47k Ohms at 1 kHz, which is standard for magnetic phono cartridges.
How do I clean and maintain the VP29?
Clean the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquids or abrasive cleaners. Keep the unit away from moisture and extreme temperatures.
