Frequently Asked Questions - ACR-4 AudioControl

What devices is the AudioControl ACR-4 compatible with?
The ACR-4 is designed to control AudioControl processors, signal processors, and amplifiers that support IR control, such as the DM-6080 or D-4.800 series.
How do I program the ACR-4 to work with my device?
No programming is needed for AudioControl devices; it works out of the box. For non-AudioControl devices, the ACR-4 has a learning function: hold down the desired key and point the original remote at the IR receiver to learn the code.
What type of batteries does the ACR-4 use?
It uses two AAA batteries (alkaline recommended). Battery compartment is located on the back.
How do I clean the remote control?
Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surface. Do not use water, solvents, or abrasive cleaners as they may damage the rubber keys.
What is the range of the IR signal?
The effective range is up to 30 feet (9 meters) with a clear line of sight. Performance may degrade in bright sunlight or if the IR window is blocked.
Is the ACR-4 backlit?
Yes, the keypad has a blue backlight that activates when any button is pressed, making it usable in low-light conditions.
Can I replace the backlight if it stops working?
Backlight repair requires disassembly and should be performed by an authorized AudioControl service center to prevent damage.
Does the ACR-4 work with brand X amplifiers?
The ACR-4 is pre-programmed only for AudioControl devices. It can learn IR codes from other remotes, so compatibility depends on whether the brand X amplifier uses standard IR protocols.
What should I do if the remote stops responding?
First, check the batteries and replace if low. Ensure the IR emitter is clean and pointed at the device. If still not working, try resetting by removing batteries for 10 seconds.
Where can I download the user manual?
The manual is available for free on the AudioControl official website under the Support section, or through the product page at retailers.

AudioControl ACR-4 - 1

Add volume control to any system

The ACR-4 is a dual-knob remote level control designed to work with specific AudioControl processors. The ACR-4 can be surface or custom-mounted to add discrete level and function control to your audio system. Installation is simple and no power is required.

Placement And Mounting of the ACR-4

The ACR-4 may be mounted under a dash or console using its own bracket or through custom mounting holes in the dash/console. It should be within reach of the driver and in a spot where the LED is plainly visible.

Bracket Installation

ACR-4 mounts with four screws, which attach to the underside of a dashboard/console. Slide under the dash or console and place the ACR-4 in its mounting position, mark the mounting holes, drill pilot holes, and secure with screws.

Custom Installation

For that custom, finished look, the ACR-4 can be flush mounted directly on the dash/console panel (or anywhere else). Referencing the drawing right, disassemble the ACR-4. Drill a 9/32" (7 mm) hole in the panel for the control along with a 3/32" (2.3 mm) hole for the lock tab and a 1/8" (3 mm) hole for the LED. Reassemble the ACR-4 components on the dashboard or console.
